Never stayed here before but came a few times for massage. There is a massage centre in this hotel offering foot massage, thai traditional and oil massage. Prices at 250THB for foot massage for an hour, THB 300 for a course of traditional massage (approx 1.5 to 2 hours) and THB 350 for an hour of oil massage.

Clean and decent place though I feel the masseurs prefer men. Perhaps due to more tips?

The massage is not bad though I found it a bit too painful most of the time. They provide clothes for traditional massage and absolutely no clothes for oil massage so be prepared. The masseurs are young and middle aged women who are slim but have lot of strength.

You should give tips at this place because of how they structure it. You will pay at the cashier and then the girls will wait for you at the door to see you off and also hope/ expect to receive tips. I would say a tip of 50-100 THB should suffice, depending on how satisfied you are. The few times we went, did not need to make booking in advance because they have many masseurs and many rooms.

They have rooms for like 2-4 people in a private room without toilet and locking facility FYI.

Recently stayed at this hotel and found it to be well located, quite central to Lee Gardens Plaza and Thanon Thamanoovithe, maybe a 5 minute walk. The hotel and its rooms are a little dated but not too shabby, albeit the bathroom looked a bit 'tired'. It may be desirable to check which room you are going to be allocated before accepting it. Carpets are starting to look quite grubby. There also seems to be no differentiation between smoking / non-smoking rooms, whereas in some hotels, all bedrooms now are non-smoking. Mention has been made of miserable check-in staff but I have to say I found them OK, maybe it's how you treat them, OK they are not as cheery as those at the Tune Hote, but they are OK, and very helpful. There is a good sized tewo-level underground secure car park at the side of the hotel (free for guests) and the hotel has its own restaurant and an on-site massage parlour with room service available. Room service food is also available, the menu is quite extensive and reasonably priced.

The rooms are spacious and have a relaxed feel to them with beige decor and light woods. Furnishings are of a good standard with a good sized wardrobe with ample hangers, a large rooms safe, large fridge, dressing table and chair, small table and two chairs and a suitcase / shoe storage cupboard. Lighting in the room is also tasteful with a standard lamp and table lamps on each of the bed-sdie tables. There is a good sized TV, drinking water (2 bottles daily) . The bed is either King Size or two singles. The King Size was OK for me but some may find the mattresses quite hard, the pillows are also very firm. The air-con is OK and not too intrusive in terms of sound at low settings. Bathrooms are OK size wise and showers are over a bath with a pull across curtain as opposed to a shower cubicle. Water flow is good and hot. There are some limited toiletries in the bathroom (soap, shampoo, shower cap and cotton buds).

In terms of rates I actually found the walk-in rate better than both Agoda or the voucher seller rates at the border (THB 1,350 and THB 1,110 respectively versus THB 1000 walk-in) but this may vary according to time of year and how much advance notice you have for your stay.

Positives
+ Reasonable central location (about 5 minutes walk to Odean Shopping Mall)
+ Quiet area of town
+ Quite close to rail and bus stations
+ Free early check-in if room free and cleaned
+ Opening windows if your prefer fresh air and no AC
+ Good size TV with reasonable range of channels
+ Breakfast included
+ Spacious relaxing rooms
+ Housekeeping staff friendly and helpful
+ Wifi throughout hotel
+ Room Safe
+ Free drinking water (take note that this is for the 2 glass bottles - the plastic bottles are chargeable)
+ 4 glasses in each room
+ On site and secure off-road parking
+ On-site massage parlour

Negatives
- Wifi can be VERY slow in room
- Air Con does not seem the most efficient with medium to high fan settings required to cool room (which then gets noisy)
- Only 2 lifts servicing 15 floors - waits can be long
- No differentiation between smoking / non-smoking rooms
- Beds and pillows may be too firm for some
- Only two pillows in room
- Curtains let in a bit too much light so room not very dark in mornings
- No tea / coffee facilities in room
- No hair-dryer
- No iron / ironing board in room
- Bathrooms a bit tired
- Hotel clearly ageing a bit

Beware:Unethical pratice/advertisement.

There is a old hotel across the road but described as "OLD WING of Sakura hotel"

Never accepted the "ran down old wing "hotel run by the same management across the road.

We book via internet but was given a bad deal,we were put up in the old wing" which is a ran down hotel across the road.

We took up this matter with the booking agent but was told that they could do nothing.
They said they would remove the "old wind"from their advertisement after we complained >>What if nobody complain?????

An old wing is another extension of the same hotel and not a "run down"hotel across the road run by the same management.

We felt cheated.

Hi
I went to Hat Yai Sakura and check for a room, i wanted a room for 2 nights, the receptionist told me that there is ONLY 1 room and I need to check out tomorrow to a different room but have to pay more. Ok agreed, the first day she gave me a superior room that cost me Baht 1150 no breakfast. Ok fine, the second day I need to pay 1500 baht for the deluxe room. ok I paid all in all 2700 baht. The next day I call the receptionist and enquiry to change the room since I have a similar in Songkala and will be late, I was so surprise she told me I can still use the same room without any changes. But what I was so frus is that I paid more compare to the first day. WHY. The service at the front desk was so bad and no respect to me as a guest, if I encounter this I do believe many like will do the same too. I wonder does the management educate their staffs or do any monitoring I insist to see the manager but was told he in on leave and I cant see. What is this. . Please take note I feel this Sakura is not a good hotel and not safe unless you wanted to be cheated and pay your money for nothing. What a way to make money from us a day light fraud and cheat. I am so upset and I am sharing with all my networking friends NOT to book or stay in this hotel . I am writing all over the world to my friends and I wilkl soon send all the documents after scanning for you to see.
Sad been so stupid
I check in on the 22/1/12 check out 24/.1/12 move to other hotel.

I stayed at the hotel on 29-30/4/11. Luckily for only one night. During check in, the receptionist didn't even smile..so that for the rest of the stay....instead not only one person but all of the receptionists seem to be trained not to smile I guess. Room was ok..nothing much to expect but quite far the town...can't walk from the railway station..tuk tuk is 20baht per person everywhere in town... Overall..worst experience of customer service, except for one bell boy who was very helpful to find us a tuk tuk to Klonghae Floating Market that cost 400 Baht for 6 of us...

A few mins walk to the central shopping. Average rooms, A downside of it is the front office, if only the staffs can smile :) U can get a voucher for this hotel at tour agency for THB 920 not inclusive of breakfast. Sintavee tour located next to the hotel give very good rates for money exchange and sell the voucher for this hotel at THB 920. Others sell at THB 950.

I am a regular visitor to Hat Yai and stay at Sakura Grand View most of the time. My last stay there was a disappointment. We booked four rooms there and all our rooms at the 9th level had small cockroaches crawling all over the place in the toilet. You kill those and more of them appear the next day. This will probably be my last stay in this hotel.

Try not to stay on the 9th level. That was where we had the problem in all 4 rooms which we stayed at.
