The hotel is not situated in central Hatyai, you have to take tuk tuk. We had our own transport so, the travelling was not a problem. The hotel provides free parking. Drinking water provided but you have to borrow flask from front desk (refundable deposit required) for hot water.
In general, if you want no-frills accomodation you may want to consider this hotel. Clean rooms and we love the triple rooms...suitable for our group.
Hotel condition was okay, clean. Can't expect much services as this is not a 5-star hotel. No worries on finding transportation if you are not driving there, as there are few tut-tut services just below the hotel. Communication was a bit troubled as English is not their main language. With sign language and pictures you will get to your places. May look for tut-tut driven by AhWang. He is a nice and polite guy, but may need to negotiate with him on the price though.
Few things that troubled during out stay: 1) They only have 2-pin plugs and no universal adaptor provided. Kindly prepare yourself with a universal adaptor to re-charge your gadgets. 2) Air-conditioning was noisy. 3) No water boiler; unable to cook water inside room.
Overall, it is still okay. Like i said, can't expect much with the price you are giving :)
On that day, the driver picked us up, brought out his passport (he is a Thai Chinese), and when we reached the Thai border immigration, he told us he is not going in cos the queue is long. He said he will get us a taxi to bring us into the Malaysian train station. He threatened that the queue is long and we will be late. Our train leaves at 9.30am Malaysian time and we were only at the Thai immigration at 6.30am. He had full of excuses which were lame....and that gives me an impression that he has something to hide.
I did not want to pay him the remaining amount cos he did not fulfill his promise. Instead, he called a taxis who was kind to bring us in and he paid him 300TB. In the end, I paid him the remaining 600TB as it was the amount we promised to him. He, shortchanged the other Thai driver--- an extremely dishonest man. Before giving him the 600TB, my mom and I gave him a piece of our mind on him as a dishonest human with zero integrity. What an irresponsible human!
When contacted the hotel to inform of this incident, the first reaction the hotel said was they are not responsible of any negotiation between taxi and guests. However they mellowed down when we showed them the official receipt they issued. As expected, their receptionist said they informed us of 1200TB till Thai Border. I asked why should I get a taxi till Thai Border when I get up the train at Malaysian train station. Logic will also tell you I paid 50% ie 600TB.
To those who are travelling back to Padang Besar Malaysia, please be careful with this hotel and the driver. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
Pros :
- Wide parking space
- Easy check in/out
- Staff were attentive and helpful
- High speed internet, averagely more than 30Mbps
- Location isn’t an issue as Grab service is available. Going to Lee Garden Plaza only cost 95BhT
- Very clean, spacious and comfortable rooms
- Basic amenities provided - Toothbrush, shampoo, soap, cotton buds etc.
- Hot water works very well
Cons :
- No halal joints around. You’ll have to go somewhere else to find halal foods if you’re moslem. Worry not, there’s convenient store at the lobby.
Tips :
- Key deposit is 100Baht/room (refundable)
- Grab service always available with very cheap fare
- Pick the room facing city view and high floor is recommended
- Extra pillow is only 100Baht for overall stay
- Minibar is provided with free drinking water
Overall stay was great! Definitely coming back!
Tip: When we first inquired at reception about an available room, they first showed us printed pictures of what the room looks like. We ofcourse insisted to actually see the room and then we agreed to stay.
Tip: We took a tuk/tuk from the bus station at 30 baht each to the hotel. Driver tried to charge 100 baht, but we negotiated lower.
Negative: Only issue with the location of the hotel is that the restaurants in walking distance had trouble speaking english and the menus were only in Thai. Some of the locals tried to help us but if you are a picky eater (like me) we settled on food from 7 eleven.
I am very surprised to see the reviews about cockroaches or bugs in the rooms here because the place was spotless! We didnt see any and if I had this would be a very different review.
Air con was ok, bath clean, shower head at funny position, pointing at the door. Wifi pretty ok. Has a little cafe which serves pretty good and reasonable food, also provide room service.
"Location is at industrial area + housing. Just towel, soap and bottle water. Dishonest taxi driver, hotel said used them for 10 years."Read full review
