I booked this hotel for the weekend due to the exceptional deal we got online for it, and also for the fact that I am part of the Elite Club which offers its members 50% flat discount on dining at any of the facilities in the hotel (cardholder + plus one guest) (more on that to come!)

We arrived late night on Thursday and were (sort of) welcomed with a smile at the reception. For an international hotel chain I was really expecting better in that aspect.

We got to our room, unpacked, and as we had arrived late we were tired so wanted to sleep shortly after. This plan was cut short though as we found a small amount of blood on the bed covers and bed sheets. We then questioned if the bed sheets had been changed at all prior to our arrival; definitely a major human error there. The staff were very concerned in this sense and we thank them for being so quick to rectify this issue by changing our room and giving us a suite (we had booked a suite for our second night anyway, so they gave us our room a day earlier and let us stay there for both nights). I have no doubts that this is not something that happens often and was a genuine mistake but it was just an experience that unfortunately put a damper on our stay overall.

Next, the breakfast. We hadn't included breakfast as part of our first night but were fine with that as we are eligible for 50% discount through the Elite Club. Upon paying, the front of house tried to tell us it was only 15% discount (even though our membership app clearly states it's 15% for cardholder + FIVE GUESTS (and 50% for cardholder + 1 guest - i.e, myself and my husband). So, it seems as though the hotel must inform themselves more on the procedures/workings of Elite Club if they are registered and part of it as there seemed to be a lot of confusion surrounding it. The same issues were faced when dining at Eden Rock too.

I won't ramble on much more regarding the issues we faced as I understand they might not pertain to other guests - as I mentioned, the housekeeping issue is probably 1 in a million.

The views from the hotel room were exceptional and the majority of the staff we interacted with were very hospitable and friendly, especially those working in the health club/pool side, so many thanks to them. The location is great and there is lots to do within the hotel grounds, so that is a plus. However, a site wide renovation would be a welcomed idea to modernise the hotel and facilities.

Overall, our stay was comfortable - I won't be rushing back any time soon but we look forward to visiting other Mercure hotel destinations soon.

We stayed here for one night as part of a tour. The location atop the mountain afforded great views. Our large room with balcony had everything we needed, including hot water with adequate pressure. The furnishings in the room and bathroom were very dated and could have been cleaned a bit better, with stray hairs in the bathroom. The tub was very deep, fine if you need a good soaking, but not the easiest to get in and out of.

The great staff is the highlight of the Mercure. From check in to check out the staff was wonderful. We stayed one night on a Friday night and really enjoyed the break from the heat of Abu Dhabi. It’s at least 10 degrees cooler. The pool was refreshing and we really enjoyed the wind and the view at the mountaintop restaurant. All details were taken care of for us; as soon as we walked out to the pool the staff was arranging disinfected sun loungers for us. The food at the pool restaurant was great and we had both dinner and lunch the next day there. I had the chicken breast with grilled vegetables and for lunch I had the turkey club sandwich with fried shrimp. The prices are very, very reasonable.
The Deluxe room (pool view) was perfect and spacious enough. Very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had a curtain and could use a redo but otherwise it was fine for us. The balconies are quite tiny, but we managed to pull the chairs out, sit and enjoy the sunrise with our favorite cocktails.
The gym needs some attention though. The rower was not functional, and there are no disinfection hand wipes or towels to wipe down the machines and weights. I was able to get a quick workout in but would probably not return. There were quite a few other fun activities available like ping pong, mini golf and pool I noticed other guests playing and they looked like they were having lots of fun.
We were able to walk up to the top of the mountain from the hotel and we really enjoyed the little trek. Not too tough, about 3 kilometers up and 3 back for about 2 hours of walking. The views of Al Ain at night are worth the effort. There is a local restaurant at the top where you can purchase drinks and snacks, but we did not stop in and had brought our own water.
The highlight of our stay The Mercure is truly the staff. We would like to especially thank Ibrahim Oladele, the Assistant Front Office Manager for his hospitality throughout the duration of our stay. He seemed to be everywhere from check in to the pool to the restaurant, greeting us and asking if we needed anything. Also, all the staff at the pool restaurant (including the very helpful lifeguards) were awesome, and very attentive and helpful.
Overall, we look forward to returning. It is a very unique spot at very reasonable prices and the views and memories are priceless.

We booked 2 rooms overnight during Eid. Prices were double of 5 star hotels in Al Ain but we figured it was worth it because of the location.

Staff were friendly and polite however simple basics were missing. For example, I ordered an additional bed as well as towels (as there were none in our bathroom believe it or not) and only got these after 3 hours. Calls to reception were not answered (I called 7 times before someone picked up) and I had to walk around the corridors to find the cleaning crew and ask for towels.

The good point was that the pool was open and clean with a lifeguard present. My biggest problem however was with the restaurant when we went down for dinner. That was overpriced and just a bizarre experience. Of course there were Covid19 related limitations in place, however the food was cold or barely luke warm and the selection of salads and desserts was an absolute joke. Entire restaurant was serviced by only 2 waiters that either ignored any requests (we never got the baby chair that we requested twice) or simply got them wrong.

Pool side restaurant was also bizarre. We went there for some hot drinks in the evening but were advised not to order any hot drinks as these had to be obtained from the main kitchen in the hotel and that apparently required at least 20 minutes.

The view from the top of the mountain was beautiful and the mini golf was alot of fun for the children. The hotel and the rooms were clearly dated but overall what was disappointing was that we were charged a huge premium for our stay and despite that, the simple basics of service were frequently unashamedly missing. For prospective visitors, I would strongly recommend to avoid this hotel as you can easily stay at a 5 star (this one is 4 stars)at the bottom of the mountain for half the price and twice the quality of service. You can then buy snacks and drive up the mountain to enjoy the sight from the many vantage points.

Overall, hotel has a lot of potential but is completely let down by its very poor service standards. I can't imagine going back there soon.

The Mercure Grand Jebel Hafeet is a beautiful hotel on top of a beautiful unique mountain. The staff are great and very professional and the rooms are very clean. So as far as what is the basic necessities of what a hotel should be it is great. Issues though are many as you can see everywhere that the hotel is in desperate need of being refurbished and modernized.

The golf course views as advertised online ended up being of the putt putt golf course where the Astro turf was peeling off of the fairways. The lights around the “golf course” are all beaten up and damaged.

The bar called Lawrence’s did not have sufficient ventilation from the kitchens and was full of kitchen smoke. This was the case on the two occasions that we went inside.

The buffet restaurant was below UAE average with regards to the food quality and the service was non existent. We asked for drinks menu and received them and that was it nobody came back for the table to ask for our drinks order.

The decor in the rooms is from the previous century and the curtain rails didn’t work properly.

At the end of the day I don’t regret staying in the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay but for such an iconic location the hotels restaurants and actual physical building needs a massive facelift.

Our friends booked to go here and suggest we try the hotel also. We arrived Fri afternoon for one night.
Polite and friendly staff and wonderful location are sadly let down by Mercure management who seem to have let this place rot and crumble.
Even for covid standards the menu was poor and limited at the only two restaurants open, pool bar and Belvedere. If you're happy with simple microwaved snack food then you will be fine here. After already booking direct and stating we were a family with daughter who needed her own bed we were emailed a price for our room which changed when we arrived and they tried to charge us for the extra bed which on phone and be email we had been assured would be fine no extra cost and bed would be set up. We rang a couple of times to ask for this bed which finally turned up in the evening but were chasing towels for our hotel room till the next morning and ended up using our pool towel we brought up. I can't fault the staff they seemed run into the ground and extremely minimal numbers and seemed equally frustrated with the poor organisation and management of the hotel as the guests were. The Belvedere restaurant is the only choice for evening food if you're not by the pool. We waited over an hour for food in a not even full restaurant. Our daughter was so hungry by this time that we cancelled our order so we could try to at least get her a pizza back at the pool bar.
After many apologies (not by any management I may add), we finally got served food that was half cold and the rest looked dry and overcooked.
Our other friends who stayed at the hotel didn't even get breakfast the next day as the queue was so long for getting in and their children were getting upset. They ended up having to eat at the pool bar and order and wait for non breakfast snack foods to have instead.
The old saying 'you get what you pay for' would apply but we didn't get a specially great rate or anything so if you're happy to go and pay dirt cheap for basic food and amenities it will be OK I guess.
Just to add we had chatted to reception about the issues but nobody seemed interested in rectifying complaints.

We arrived around 1230pm after a long drive from Abu Dhabi after my 4 year old threw up in the car due to the altitude. Ranjani at reception at first could not even find one of my bookings and then informed me that this is early check in and would be chargeable. I asked her if she expected me to sit here and wait in the lobby with one sick child and a baby till 3pm and she said yes. She did not offer for them to hold our luggage as we use the facility and actually got a little angry at my reaction. I then asked for the manager who explained that none of the rooms are available which is not what she said. She was only worried about charging for early check in (I did not ask even how much it is because it’s not about the money it’s the principle of the matter). I have not in my life checked in at a hotel where they have asked me to pay for early check in if a room was available (we arrived at 1230pm so it wasn’t as if we arrived at 6 am) and if it wasn’t they would offer to hold our luggage while we enjoyed the facilities. If we didn’t just drive two hours from home and up a mountain to be here we would have left at that point.

When we finally got our room, it is extremely dated, smells like smoke, i got locked in the bathroom because the door doesn’t close properly and my husband had to go down to get our own luggage since they just left our stuff laying there for almost an hour.

DO NOT BOOK HERE it’s an old dated and not well kept hotel and they do not care about hospitality or customer service they clearly just care about getting as many extra dirhams from you as possible.

The only good thing about this hotel is it’s location.

I checked in late at night (11pm) because I had no plans to be in the hotel apart from to sleep and then wake up for sunrise.

When I enquired about al ain zoo/al ain oasis they basically said “go online and check” with no idea for themselves.

Someone’s room service was left outside their room when I checked in and then when I woke up a few hours later the food was still there.

My room was very spacious however not nice. There was a stale smell, the mattress and pillows were not in good condition and quite frankly I couldn’t wait to get out. The shower was so bad I actually decided to not shower at all as that felt cleaner than actually having one.

I always try to make a factual and objective review, and leave out personal preferences.

Quiet atmosphere, and not cluttered by crowds; the scenic drive is high away from the horns and traffic of city life.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly and attentive staff, coupled with great hospitality, quick and smiling service, and all the information we would need about the hotel and amenities.
The lobby was very expense and reflected the Al Ain feel of greenery and vegetation. Clean and polished surfaces were everywhere, along with hand sanitizing stations. A welcoming sight.
The room was quite clean, neat and organized, and with a great view overlooking the south part of Al Ain.
The pool area was very clean and well-kept, organized, complete with a swim-up bar and cafe behind.
Breakfast was solid and on par; the omelettes and pancakes were done perfectly.
Overall, it's worth the drive to get away from the noisy city, and for the current rates, it was hard to pass up.
We absolutely will return to stay again.

Very bad service, careless staff, receptionist staff looked unhappy to be in his position, didn’t feel any hospitality warmth at all, in fact no hospitality at all.

Staff didn’t even bother to explain anything during check-in, we had to push the receptionist to speak up as he was not showing any sign of communication.
It is very sad that during holidays festive we come so motivated to spend nice time and then we find this unhappy faces !!!
We also mentioned that we are newly married couple but they didn’t even care enough to say congratulations, when we booked we mentioned the same and got a reply that they cannot do anything because of COVID. Actually, if they can provide toiletries, water and tea bags in the room, they definitely can place a little gesture as well.

Overall very poor customer service.

Honestly I’m not even proud to share your hotel location in my social media, I’d rather share only jebel hafeet location because I don’t feel proud to be here.

Their restaurants are good. I've tried their Dinner buffet ( AED 80/ US$22) and it was quite good. I also tried food in their bar and it was quite good too. There is no reason to look for a kitchen to cook. Their rooms do not have a kitchen facility. But they are building a new block with different kinda rooms. Once that is launched, maybe they'll have kitchen facility there.
