Nice and cozy place. Only 17 rooms each of them with different decoration. Posada plaza Mayor is an an historical construction made by portugueses. Only 2 things that could make things better: habe a pool but according to the front desk man it is forbidden to build it in such area and the internet wireless signal is very low, maybe...

Very convenient location, nice courtyard and wonderful breakfast room. Very accommodating despite our very late arrival thanks to American Airlines 18 hour delay. Our room was off the courtyard, very private, very clean, beds are comfortable and decor put is in the mood to visit the sights in old town. Wished we had more time there.

Really cute! Nice central courtyard with fountain and benches. Great location next to water and major plazas, although Colonia is small overall. My only complaint is there is no wifi in the rooms - only in the lobby, and intermittently in the courtyard (the stone walls prevent the signal). You can store your bags in the lobby (not very secure)...

Posada Plaza Mayor is where you want to be while visiting the charming town of Colonia, founded by Portugese settlers in the 1700s. The hotel is located in two buildings, an old one and an older one, connected by pretty gardens. Although it is located right in the heart of Old Town, it was very quiet, even in the streetside...

This Posada is walking distance from the Ferry and very well located in the beautiful town of colonia. We booked the best room (#18) which is separated from the main house, in the garden in the back. Stone walls, new and very clean bathroom, two large doors opening on the courtyard and a very comfortable bed! While getting ready for...

We stayed for one night and we were delighted by Posada Plaza Major. We arrived 4 hours earlier then check in time and Marcello was more than happy to allow us into the room. The Suite we stayed in was very large and homely with a very comfortable bed and large light filled windows. This Posada is located in a...

They must repaint the walls in the rooms each season, as they were spotless, brilliantly white -- a breath of fresh air. Our special need of an early departure time was graciously accommodated by allowing us to eat from the breakfast buffet before opening time. The Plaza Mayor is centrally located within the historic district of Colonia, just steps from...

We couldn't fault this beautiful little guest house when we visited in February. The courtyard is enchanting and the smell of the Jasmine divine. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and the 2 breakfasts were lovely. Ask for the room at the back with the tiny door, you can see the river from it and it is very quiet....

This hotel is extremely well situated just a block away from the banks of the Rio Del Plata. The rooms situated on two levels are located around an inner courtyard which features a water fountain in a middle of a small garden. The building has kept its old colonial style like the rest of the old quarters in Colonial Del...

This place has a great location, although noisy if you stay in a room on the street side, as we did. Would recommend either 17 with the small door or the beautiful new suite, both of which look out over a charming river side private garden. The new suite is $250 and was not yet listed online. Breakfast was fine-nothing...
