Of all the hotels we have been in, this is the only one that left me with a mixed feeling. The hotel is fine, the rooms are not huge, but big enough. The personnel are helpful and the position is great because you can walk to Gur-I Emir and enjoy it by night without problems. However, the bathroom had a...

Nice clean hotel located within walking distance to Samarkand's historical places and market. Quiet area. Clean, spacious, modern rooms. Modern lobby, could do without the rather loud TV. Free wifi connection, but only worked at the lobby. Average breakfast.

my husband and I travelled with a group. We got one bed for both of us, while single travellers got two. I don't know why! Breakfast was poor and could be more. Staff was friendly and helpful. They turned off the TV in the Lobby. Lobby would be better without TV and with suits.

As other reviewers noted, this place is decent but not great. The blaring TV in the lobby was very annoying, the breakfast was edible, but tiresome when repeated. There isn't really anyplace to relax except in your room. The staff is helpful and courteous. The wifi only works well in the lobby (where the TV is blaring)...but is always slow....

The City Hotel is by all means a decent hotel. The rooms a quite large and clean, although they are a little dated. There is a refrigerator and the hotel offers free wifi (slow). The shower is not very good in that there is little water pressure. The staff is very friendly and some staff members speak good English. The...

after staying at this hotel with our group for several days we departed for further travels and it was not until several days later that I realised I had left my good travel shirt at the hotel! I contacted the hotel who informed me that they had found the shirt and they would post it back to Australia for me...

Good location, as the hotel is set back off the main street and close to several attractions. Breakfast is downstairs and not a minute before 7 a.m. Beds are fairly comfortable. Given the entropy that is currently seizing this country, a reasonable and fair choice.

Within easy walking distance of things to see in Samarkand. Had a room on the first floor. WiFi available in the lobby. Breakfast was served in the "basement"/lower level (down a flight of stairs) off the lobby. Good selection of items. Staff were very accommodating. Shower water pressure varied and temperature as well. Several light bulbs were out in the...

a thoroughly delightful boutique hotel within walking distance of 'downtown' samarkand. rooms in hotel building larger than rooms on garden level, but if prefer not to climb -- two floors, but no elevator, request a garden room (with the added benefit of in-room wifi). mattresses look brand new, and comfy chair for watching cable tv... highlight of hotel: staff who...

Just off the central road leading to amir temur monument, the city hotel is small but clean and cozy. Accessible by foot and taxi to the best part of samarkand, the hotel is good value for the rent. The staff is friendly, services reasonable and rent affordable. Breakfast needs definite improvement. The bed matresses are arthopedically hard , butbstaff does...
