Samarkand is a good walking city and the Hotel Grand Samarkand is well located for this. it doesn't live up to the 'grand' description, being small and intimate. Make sure you get a room with an external window. I paid a little extra and got a front room and it was well worth it. The lack of a lift would...

Grand Samarkand is in the new part kf the city, but still with the good position. Staff is hospitable. Breakfasts are decent with wide selection. Even coffee, espresso, which is not so common in Uzbekistan is good. The only drawback is that majority of rooms are situated towards covered inner courtyard so that you cannot get fresh air.

Perfectly acceptable, clean and comfortable hotel with decent rooms. Wifi in rooms more reliable than in other parts of Uzbekistan. Reasonable buffet breakfasts, friendly staff. Located in a quiet side street - a 30-45 minute walk from the Register, Bibi Khanym Mosque etc

The hotel is relatively small but comfortable with comfortable beds and pillows and the water is drinkable though I didn't try it. For Uzbekistan the food is surprisingly good. It is quite handy for the city centre

We stayed here for 2 nights and i would not recommed it. The lighting in the room was poor as the switch for the bedside light was wedged behind the headboard and was temperamental to say the least. Lighting in corridor to ground floor room was not good. The way the beds were made up was very strange, the top...

Too many chairs, suitcase-stand blocking the window & one of the beds, almost inaccessible fridge, wardrobe so narrow the door wouldn't close unless you turned the coathangers sideways - and the switches! These controlled the lights & power-points but as they were labelled in Japanese we never managed to sort them out. We didn't have dinner in the hotel, only breakfast....

There are two sister hotels on opposite sides of the street. The rooms in the Hotel Grand Samarkand are very small and claustrophobic. They are set around a pretty courtyard where you can have coffee, tea and other drinks and food and snacks. Breakfast is very good with a great choice and all very fresh with helpful and friendly staff....

Arrived too early to check in which was no problem and the reception called us a taxi. When we got into the room it was large and clean. There was no bottled water which was a surprise. We used the duvet which was available. The following day the bed spread and pillow case covers were missing or damage and the...

IA small hotel in a quiet location . I had a single room which was small but comfortable .The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was good . One drawback was that the wi-fi only worked in the hotel lobby .

This looks a very modest hotel tucked into a quiet street just off major streets. It is modest. It's unpretentious. It's even quaint to some eyes- but everything works. My room opened over a very pleasant central courtyard and could have been noisy had people stayed up late out there, but our small tour group retired tired and early. The...
