Spent 2 nights here the week before Christmas as we wanted to visit the Shin-hotaka ropeway & try a traditional onsen. It is less than 5-min walk from the Hirayu bus station (just walk straight ahead) but be careful of the slippery road due to the ice. Check-in was a breeze & the staff could understand English. Stayed in the...

I had taken the local bus from Takayama station to Hirayu Onsen (bus stop) which is about an hour ride. Hirayunomori is just a few steps from the bus stop. The staff were nice and speak english very well. The dinner is interestingly good for my taste. Grilling the Hida beef by yourself and a variety of local dish. The...

The hotel room is huge. Its onsen facility is excellent. It even features 2 private onsen rooms in which you and your partner can enjoy private time together. It is quite peaceful and comfortable. The only downside is that it takes about 45 min by driving from takayama city.

This was a really tranquil two days after touring hectic Kyoto. The hotel has a relaxed, mountain lodge feeling in a beautiful spot. Great outdoor hot springs - only downside bring that the changing and washing areas for hotel guests are seriously dilapidated, compared to the nice set-up for day visitors. Most rooms are inside the lodge, but four of...

I only visited this place because I had decided to see as much Japanese culture as I could. I didn't really see the attraction of sharing a bath with other naked men but my son said it was a must do while in Japan and he was right. We didn't stay in the accommodation, just visited the baths. It was...

We (family with children age 16 and 14) stayed here for two nights in the beginning of July as part of our journey to Japan. In the after math this was selected as the best experience on the whole journey by my family! We had a cottage (kura) which was equipped in Japanese style with a (western style) toilet, own...

Split between males and females, I wasn't planning on going to an onsen on my trip, but on my way from Shinhotoka Ropeway course, I thought itd be stupid of me to go to a mountain and not visit an onsen. So i went in, and it was amazing, just like a traditional onsen from hundreds of years ago. Sitting...

An amazing onsen near Kamikochi and also on route between Matsumoyo & Takayama. We visited it as day onsen customers rather than an overnight stay. Very large pools. A very rustic yet very well maintained. I'd come back in a heartbeat. Be careful when driving as low lying clouds often seem to cloud your view when driving. But what an...

We were staying in Takayama town centre with my wife and were not satisfied with the onsen at the hotel so I started looking for a good one around the neighborhood and I found this place. Although we were not staying in the hotel we could use the facilities with a day pass which we purchased from a vending machine...

A sincere and warm thank you to the founders and staff of this heavenly spot on earth. The food at the restaurant is lovely, and the various onsens are even lovelier! We came here twice this week and havent been disappointed. Feeling very relaxed and loved ❤❤
