Very welcoming couple, clean room and in the downtown. The man gave me a map upon arrival of the town and pointed out some attractions, like a Sake distillery tour. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again if I am lucky enough to visit Takayama again. (My stay was really in January 2015 but I couldn't select that...

We stayed here for 3 nights over the Spring Festival, so it was a full house the first 2 nights. As other reviewers state, the older couple running this B & B/minshuku are warm hosts, while at the same time being very thorough/professional. The house is well kept and a large breakfast is served, it's not gourmet (instant coffee) but...

I stayed 4 nights here while taking day trips out of Takayama, and I must say it's a wonderful accommodation and a hidden gem. Basics first - rooms, toilets, and bathrooms were spotlessly clean, the location is convenient (15 minutes walk from the train station.. with luggage it might take some effort but really not a biggie), and at night...

Simple, sweet, perfect! It's not a fancy place to stay in, but a place you should definitely stay in if you're in Takayama. There were private bathrooms fitted with indoor onsen. :-) Breakfast included the local delicacy of mouth-watering Hida beef mixed with miso paste, delicious miso soup, rice, fish and rice! The lovely couple who run this place are...

I have been using TA for many years but it's my first time to write a review. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The owners have been very nice and friendly. We feel very warm :) We can't speak Japanese but can still communicate with them as they can speak some English. The Japanese style room is...

I absolutely love this place. The old couple that run it are delightful and will bend over backwards for you. We had a nice explanation of the town and were given plenty of information. The location is across the road from a beautiful temple and close to everything. The breakfast we received the following morning was amazing. It was a...

My fiancee and I stayed here for one night during our short stay in the Takayama-Hida region. We arrived mid-morning and while our room wasn't ready yet, the elderly couple who run this Minshuku were quick to greet us and allowed us to bring our luggage up first. Thereafter, the older gentleman gave us a comprehensive run-down of Takayama using...

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The hosting couple are friendly and courteous and when you first arrive, the male host spends a good 10 minutes explaining how the indoor onsen, bath and other facilities work. He also went through how to best spend your time in town while you're visiting which was...

Spent 3 nights in this guesthouse during the fall Takayama festival. Traditional tatami rooms with available private onsen. About 15 minute walk from the JR station. Fantastic Japanese style breakfast is not to be missed. The elderly couple who runs the guesthouse were very friendly and attentive. While their English was limited and our Japanese non-existent, we had no trouble...

For the three of us we had two adjoining rooms in this minshuku, it was simple but comfortable. It is run by an elderly couple who were very pleasant and welcoming. A nice touch was coffee delivered to our room first thing on both mornings. We did not have breakfast here so I cannot comment about that. There were two...
