Just a short walk from the station, we arrived at Oyado Koto no yume to be greeted by the most gracious people in the most beautiful, serene and welcoming ryokan. After some lovely refreshment and choosing yukatas for our stay, we were shown to our room. It was absolutely lovely! Traditional, but with all the mod cons. We had booked...

This place is amazing!! Everything is clean, cozy and the stuff is amazing, looking after and responds to every need. Our shows got wet, and they took them to dry in special machine and we got boots! And we are two adults, a 12 year old boy and a 10 year old girl. We were amazed.

Runs like a well looked machine from the time you arrive until you leave. The breakfast was just amazing each morning, the rooms and decor superb. Staff couldn't do enough to help, even to remembering who belonged to which pair of shoes when you left the Ryokan each day. Local area is a wonder, particularly the older area, which some...

If you read the reviews from others who have stayed here they basically summarise what a wonderful ryokan this place is. We stayed here for three nights from March 29 -31, 2017. I was afraid that I would not be comfortable sleeping on the beds on the floor but it was one of the best sleeps I have had. Japanese...

An amazing experience, first class treatment by staff. Loved the relaxing onsen and the traditional Japanese meals. Dressing up in yukatas, having a tatami mat room and sleeping on futons added to the charm. Very welcoming environment, very different from the everyday hotel environments. Five minute walk from historical part of town and equally near to the train station.

Personally, I do not like ryokan-style hotels, however, this one was actually pretty good since service is OUTSTANDING and staff members are very pleasant, speak good English, and get out of their way to help you. Two options for breakfast- Western or Japanese. I went with Western that was excellent (for a ryokan). Don't forget- you sleep on a thin...

We had a wonderful two night stay. Very close to the train station and near most if not all attractions. Staff was also very helpful prior to our arrival, as well as once we arrived. Would highly recommend.

Excellent staff who seem to be everywhere and very proactive. Outstanding hospitality. Warm greeting and tea on arrival. Traditional rooms with futons. Japanese outfits provided. Free guest laundry. Outstanding breakfast. Free Onsen (public). Very convenient to train station (2 minute walk). Hard to fault... but staff could have provided more detail about the town on arrival (recommends sites and shops)....

Stayed here for one night mid-March with my husband. I left with mixed feelings. Location is great, close to the train station. Everything was clean. Private and public onsen were both very nice. Staff was friendly and spoke english. Food was good. Still, it felt that something was missing all the time. Although the place is clean it felt really...

Love the location, which is like a block from the main road opposite Takayama JR station and bus terminal. The staffs are extremely courteous and helpful, most of whom speak English to some extend. The shared onsen is nice, while they also offer private hot spring to reserve too.
