Fantastic experience and I would love to come back again one day. The food is outstanding and the entire Japanese inn experience is a must. Very close to takayama station and walking distance to the old town.

We spent 2 nights in this Ryokan, we had an choice over breakfast traditional or western. Private shower or shared bathroom. Staff takes good care of you and it's a nice walk from the train station and center of town.

This Ryokan is located close to the Takayama station and the main attractions of Takayama are within walking distance. Still, since the station is close by, busses are also within reach. The staff is really friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the japanese breakfast here, what a treat!! We stayed in a rather spacious tatami room,... More

This was a nice surprise, very friendly staff, shared bathrooms and toilets and hot baths, but we never had to wait, it all worked. Robes, towels changed each day, and the traditional dinners (2) were delightful. Breakfasts can be western style or Japanese style, and start at 7.00am on the dot, if you want breakfast it is at 7.00am. Busy... More

The Ryokan was in a central location, only a short walk from the train station and good walking distance to the town attractions (10-15 minutes from town centre/shops).The family who ran the ryokan were very welcoming and friendly. They cooked excellent food for breakfasts and dinners. One of our group members had her birthday while we were here, and they... More

I kind of think that this should be more of a three star review, but giving an 'average' does not really seem fair either. Our main problem with the place were very, very thin walls. You could hear every noise from the rooms next door, door opening and closing, conversations, people coughing, etc. This of course stopped at night and... More

Fantastic traditional ryokan, with good facilities including both ladies and gents hot bath, friendly and helpful staff and tasty and beautifully presented food. Both breakfast and dinner were very tasty. Served Japanese style but with pits under the table so much, much easier for Westerners to sit under. I'd stay here again if I came back to Japan.

Centrally located, this is a very nice Ryokan with an awesome friendly staff. It has shared toilet and bathrooms but very clean and well maintained. The hot pool is ok, don't expect something fancy but it does the job. The breakfast is super great and served with love. The room is well equipped and the matrices are very cosy to... More

We have been staying in quite a few ryokan around Japan - sleeping on futons on the floor in smallish rooms - just like Sosuke. Sosuke is a nice ryokan, with some wardrobe space (including space to get your suitcases out of the way), a low table and cushions, a small flat-screen TV that we never bothered with, towels, yukata...
