This was our 3rd ryokan stay in a two+ week trip, and probably the best. The service was very friendly and helpful (we still needed some help), the food was terrific (sitting on the floor takes some getting used to) and the location was great. It seemed like a stretch for our budget, but when you calculated in the three...

This is probably the best guesthouse / ryokan stay we had had in our two visits to Japan. Very friendly and helpful staff (who met our train to transport us and our luggage). The facilities including onsen, separate shower, sitting area with coffee, a beautiful small garden, and corridors filled with displays of the owner's antiques and collectables. The stay...

We had a traditional japanese room, the food was amazing and the people are very friendly and helpfull. The onsen was also nice to experience. Scenery around the hotel was nice to see, with posibillities to travel to the mountains.

Stayed in this cute ryokan for the April Matsuri , you need to book months in advance to get a room (we could only get one night over the festival so missed the night parade) Service was wonderful throughout. We were unexpectedly picked up from the station (phew!), We had left our camera chord at home, and the staff here...

We had a lovely stay here! The hotel is a quick taxi ride from the station and we were met with a friendly smile at reception. Not having a place to sit in your room takes some getting used to-mum is 82 and couldn't sit on the floor but here are lovely little seating areas around the hotel (they just...

Nice ryokan, very good food and very nice staff. With a shuttle to pick you up from the station if you let them know a day in advance. They even had a little western yoghurt and little croissant to come with the traditional Japanse breakfast ! A recommendation !

We stayed there for two nights with our two children. In few places have we ever felt so well looked after. The food was amazing, not only beautifully presented but full of delicate and interesting flavours. The onsen is very relaxing and the tatamis very comfortable. Thank you!

The hotel offers onsen, breakfast and dinner for nearly 173 dollars per couple per night. I really believe it was worth it. You can wear the yukata they provide to stroll around the city LOL. Great stay!

Traditional, affordable family run ryokan. Lovely onsen (mineral baths) to relax in. Onsuite toilet/washbasin. A wonderful 12 course Kaiseki dinner that was worth the room charge alone and a huge japanese breakfast all included in the room price. Attentive friendly staff are always smiling and helpful. They have a shuttle bus to pick you up and drop you off at...

Amazing ryokan in lovely Takayama! The traditional guesthouse welcomes you with most delicious meals, relaxing onsen and breathtaking views. They also offer a free transfer from the JR station. The only downside is that you can hear everything happening around the house. As in all traditional ryokans, the walls are very thin and pipes make a lot of noise. Just...
