Ryokan is 10 mins walk fro station . It is a Japanese stye hotel and a culture lesson for us . It was spotless and staff could not do enough to ensure your stay was great . Please look at web site to see room layout etc as it would take me a long time to explain . We had...

Ryokan tanabe felt a little more like a conveyor belt hotel than the traditional and intimate experience I had hoped for. Breakfast was only served very early in the room, which meant that the bed had to be removed to make room for the breakfast because the room was so small, the staff seemed very rushed all the time.

This was the first ryokan I've ever stayed at and it was a fantastic first experience. The service, the food, everything was exceptional. There is a japanese bath included in the ryokan (stone or wood, depending on the day) which was perfect after a long (cold) day out in Takayama. It's about 10 minutes walk away from the train station...

This was our first stay in a ryokan, so we were a little nervous and excited. But, from the moment we crossed the threshold, the service and kindness was exceptional. You will want for nothing, and understand everything. The food was amazing, the facility excellent, and the location perfect. We stayed in more ryokans during our trip, but none came...

We enjoyed our stay a lot, the whole experience felt very warm and local. The owner lady is lovely and so so friendly, felt like we were really guests staying over at her place, you don't get that in hotels. Everybody is raving about the food-yes the food was next level. Presentation, deliciousness and overall experience-everything was great. We had...

This place is extremely clean and tidy. There are free Japanese bath and delicious meal. The rooms are equipped with everything you need, plus the staff is very polite and helpful. It's easily accessible with just eight-minute walk from the Takayama bus station.

I've been to many ryokans throughout the years and this is hands down THE BEST. It is authentically Japanese. The reception was cordial and helpful (English friendly by the way). We got to choose our own yukata and they can help you put it on. They recommended some places for us to visit in the area. The room was absolutely...

Ryokan Tanabe is a fantastic place. The staff are super friendly (and all appear to be over 70),the service is excellent, the food is authentic (although we are struggling the with Japanese breakfasts). Rooms are spacious and have a TV and WiFi - which was a pleasant surprise. Sleeping on a futon was interesting on the first night, but you...

We stay here during end of Feb 2017, and I'm glad that we do so. The owner of this ryokan is aged, but she still very active and try to served us the best she could. Beside that, the 2 ladies who served our dinner and breakfast, make us feel so Home. Really like our grandma and mother serving meal...

This is a very authentic Ryokan with futons on the floor and shoes at the door. The rooms are clean and simple. We did not have any meals at the ryokan so I cannot comment on them. The owner is lovely and very helpful. Her English is good and it was easy to communicate. Overall we were very glad we...
