My husband and I stayed at the hotel for four nights. The hotel is a bit of a trek from the train station, if you are walking with luggage, but the location can’t be beat for access to the two big sites in Kanazawa, the Castle and Kenrokuen. The front desk staff at the hotel were lovely. They were very well prepared and it was very nice to have staff that spoke English (although we could have muddled through with broken Japanese). They were prompt in getting us checked in and very helpful with their explanations of where things were situated in the hotel Our room was fine. Enough space for the two of us. There was some stains on the carpet, but other than that the room was immaculately clean. My one complaint about the room was the pillows. They were so hard. We find that most Japanese hotels offer very hard pillows and it makes for uncomfortable stiff necks in the morning. If there had been some nice fluffy pillows it would have been great We had a kaiseki dinner at the hotel’s restaurant one evening. It was excellent. The food was prepared and presented in a traditional fashion. The service was bar none and the food was delicious My only other complaint about the hotel was with regard to breakfast, and it was only one of the mornings. There are a lot of rules in place right now due to Covid and we were more than happy to follow the rules during breakfast to ensure everyone’s safety. However, on the Saturday morning we were there, it was busy and several other patrons did not feel the need to properly mask or wear the gloves that were offered, when at the buffet. There was one family in particular that had no masks, no gloves and were coughing and sneezing, as well as one other woman who did not wear gloves or a mask. As it was busy we could not grab the attention of the manager to inform him of their flagrant disregard for the “rules”. We opted to leave our breakfasts half eaten in order to preserve our health. The other three mornings we enjoyed breakfast without issue and everyone following the rules …
Just perfect hotel for location to Kenroku-en gardens and Kanazawa castle, not far from main hub of the city, and station.Hotel staff were unbelievably helpful and polite.Breakfast buffet was included with our deal and totally different to what we are used to,but a great experience no doubt. The hotel rooms are clean and very comfortable.
Great location. Within walking distance to Kenroku-en garden, Kanazawa Castle, Omicho Market, Higashi Chaya District. Room prices differ by checkin time. During checkin, we were given a really kawaii hand drawn map of nearby attractions and eateries in English. We booked a traditional Japanese room with futon beds. The room is spacious and clean. The onsen is the highlight. There are yukata that we can wear to the onsen area via a dedicated onsen elevator. The afternoon is not crowded at all, gets more crowded in the evening and night time. And I guage the morning to be the most crowded. Breakfast is good. Service is great. All in all I recommend this property.
* A beautiful hotel with the most modest exterior. * Located a gentle stroll from Kenrokuen. * A delicious and bountiful breakfast buffet * A well appointed onsen - ladies and gentlemen's onsen change through the day so you can experience both. * Delightful olde world styled lobby. * Comfortable rooms. * Professional, courteous staff service
The location was perfect for us. We were able to easily walk or grab a bus to what we needed to do. Delicious dinner options nearby. Breakfast was delicious. We ate early and enjoyed that everything was readily available and fresh. Beds were comfy. Room was small as expected but we only needed to be comfortable for getting ready and sleeping. Beds met those needs just fine. The price was right, I'm not feeling short changed, however, I expected better front desk service. It just always felt like they were just going through the motions. I've had excellent service at other places in Japan, even convenience stores, so when the hotel that gets great reviews seemed lacking it's noticeable. Overall, a good stay as there were not any real negatives to speak of.
