We came by bus from Takayama (great scenery trip) and stayed for an afternoon and night. Location is literally 2 mins from the (back exit of) station. Receipt at hotel was quick and friendly. We used the free complementary bikes for a ride, nice! Room was clean, big enough and the bed was good. Only minor was the breakfast, quiet...

Good and close to the station (5 min walk, if that), free bike hire and happy to hold our bags before we checked in. Clean and tidy room and easy to get to the castle and attractions. Side trip to Kamikochi was amazing too - great views and lots of mountain monkeys!!

Generally a good standard business hotel. Rooms are rather big for Japanese standard business hotels. The breakfast is very good. Convenient location, next to the station and in walking distance to Matsumoto Castle.

It took me around 2 mins to walk from the station, but the location of the hotel is in the opposite side of the city. So I had to walk pass the station to really see the downtown (not that far though). Great hospitality from the staffs and nice room condition. One thing though, the wi-fi didn't work well for...

Only 100 m from JR Matsumoto station. To reach the hotel, head towards West exit and walk down the escalator. Walk straight ahead into a small alley for 100 m. The hotel is just on your left. Matsumoto Castle is only 15 minutes walk away. The room was dated but comfortable. Most of the guests we saw are businessmen. Tip...

We drove, we missed the hotel on the first time. a few parking spaces outside the hotel. Room: spacious, reasonably clean, very good rate, even room is dated. a standard budget hotel. We had a room on high floor with good...

Firstly this hotel is really easy to find from the station, it's very comfortable with large rooms by Japanese standard and a good, reasonably priced, breakfast. However, what stood out for us was the incredible customer service. We travel with English movies on a tablet which we watch via HDMI on the room's television. When we couldn't get the TV...

Hotel Montagne's best feature, for those travelling by rail, is its proximity to the train station, which is an easy 200 or so metres away. The staff were excellent, and while they weren't fluent in English, they were very easy to deal with. Just after New Years there was complimentary sake (straight from the barrel) in the lobby, which was...

The hotel is nice, a bit dated but still nice and clean. The location is good, 2 mins from the train station (jr) and 5 mins from the bus station. Also only a 12 min walk to the castle. We got a free upgrade to a large room which is huge (for Japan standards) 2 beds and a lounge section...

During my two week stay in Japan, this hotel was by far the easiest-found accommodation. In fact, you can see it right from the "Alps Exit" of Matsumoto Station! Needless to say, the 2-minute walk from the station to the hotel was a godsend and added to the usefulness for Matsumoto as a base for exploring more of Nagano. The...
