We only stayed here one night but would liked to have stayed at least a couple of days. The hotel is situated near a wonderful area of shopping, museums and dining establishments. The rooms are large and comfortable. Our first room smelled of cigarette smoke and we were immediately moved to another room. People who smoke in non-smoking hotels should... More

This hotel is very comfortable. The rooms are incredibly spacious and full of character. Our bathroom is large and nicely-appointed. It is located on the edge of the historic Bokan district. A late afternoon/ evening walk was beautiful. The old buildings are well preserved.

I said the morning of our travel to Kurashaki, that no hotel would have large rooms due to Japan being crowded. This seemed to reflect on the compact rooms we had occupied during our three previous stays on this trip. All that changed here, because we had a huge room, with grand views, great air conditioning, and a fine bar... More

This is an excellent boutique hotel downtown Kurashiki a few minutes on foot from the station and at one end of the histrical area. The room was ample (by any standard9 and perfectly appointed. Service outstanding as usual in Japan. My only concern was the buffet breakfast, which was good, but didn't fare on a par with the quality of... More

Nice hotel, excellent location near the historical area where most museums and restaurants are located. Very good breakfast including traditional Japanese and Chinese as well as western favorites. Their restaurant is also quite good and I had a nice dinner. Very comfortable room, except for the temperature that is kept very warm. Excellent bathroom. Pleasant staff fighting against their poor... More

Friendly and approachable staff made our stay relaxing and comfortable. Decent sized rooms with all the requisite home comforts. Breakfast buffet was sufficient and set us up for the day. Location was convenient for exploring the sights and nice and quiet due to its being a little away from the main road. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a corner room on the 6th floor which was spacious, very comfortable and offered all the luxurious extras one would expect. We found the room impeccably clean, good writing desk with free wifi. Reception staff were efficient and friendly. The breakfast was generous and there was plenty of variation to please plus it came at a very competitive... More

The rooms are of a decent size. Corner Rooms are a bit bigger, tv's are big and some of them had an HDMI port. Nice bathrooms. The breakfast is not great, same thing everyday but they have delicious miso soup, and the coffee is surprisingly good for Asia. Nice views of the surrounding mountains. Down the street from the Bikan Historical... More

Luxurious hotel a few blocks away from the historic district in town. Rooms were very large and well furnished. The breakfast buffet was not as expansive compared to other hotels that we visited on our package tour.

We were surprised to find the Kurashiki Royal Art hotel so mediocre, down-at-the-mouth. The interior is pretty grim; the downstairs bar smoke-filled; the lobby worn and sad-looking. Not a lot of competition of course, but Royal Art is a sad little place
