Maybe our expectations were too high, but we were really dissapointed with this hotel. We chose to stay here rather than a hotel downtown, because of the amenities and facilities offered on this hotel`s website. The hotel is on the pricey side and you also really have to rent a car if you stay here unless you want to depend on the once a day shuttle provided by the hotel or taxis.

The hotel`s website makes it seem like the hotel is a resort with pool, tennis courts, gym, and other nice facilities for guests. But after arriving we were told that hotel guests have to pay extra for the pool even though it is tiny and really only good for kids to splash around in. There is a nice jacuzzi. After some haggling with the front desk, the hotel agreed to let us use the pool for free during our stay. Regardless, when you are paying that much the pool should be included in the price which is the norm at every hotel/motel around the world. The tennis courts were being used by schools so they weren`t available for guests. The gym equipment was all from the 1970`s.If they want to charge extra for the other services or these services are not really for hotel guests, they should make that clear on their website. It was really a case of false advertising.

In addition the wi-fi in our room didn`t work at first. The first staff member who came to check on it just shrugged her shoulders and said her phone was getting a signal. Finally, they sent a more knowledgable person to check on it, and he fixed it fairly quickly. I think he just re-set the router or something simple. Still it was annoying to have to ask several times for this to be fixed. Definitely not up to the service levels expected from the price, especially in a country and service-oriented as Japan.

The hotel definitely needs a face lift too. While our room was clean, the hallways and public spaces need new carpets and fresh paint. In their defense, all of the skiers and winter tourists are probably pretty hard on the place because they wear boots and track in tons of snow and mud.

Also, no one in the hotel spoke a word of English. That didn`t really surpise us, but foreign travelers should be prepared to pantomime or use a phrase book.

On the plus side, the indoor/outdoor onsen was really nice, albeit a little crowded at times. The rooms are really spacious for Japan. We were able to fit our family of five into one room relatively comfortably.

We wouldn`t choose to stay here again . There are several other options downtown near all the tourist attractions. You`d be better off to stay at one of those hotels and just walk or use taxis to go around the downtown area.

I love this quiet hotel and staff are so friendly. they welcome you with nice piano and smiles in snow season. the room is not fashion, and request you re-use the towels to save the world. the hot spring are awesome and you cannot miss the outdoor one if it snows. remember to schedule your plan carefully because you need to take taxi or shuttle bus to get this hotel and snows could shutdown JR to Sapporo/Otaru. Enjoy the trip, don't be rush.

The nice and comfort feeling of soaking yourself in hot springs surrounded by snowy mountain is indescribable. The staffs are helpful and the room is spacious, bigger than any hotels in Tokyo or Osaka, which with the same price. Free bus from Otaru City Centre to the hotel is provided and very convenient.

We came from Sapporo with a direct bus which stops right outside the hotel and it is conveniently located to Asari ski resort (1 min drive)

Free shuttle bus to the ski resort in the day at selected timings (see photo) - can check with the lobby staff at the counter. If you miss the bus timing you can ask them for a Taxi voucher and the staff will call a taxi to pick you from the hotel. This is not publicized but if you ask, they will offer. Very good service!

This hotel provides travel adaptor (subjected to availability)! Counter staff speaks good English (selected few,not all).

Love the hot springs at this hotel as it has an outdoor area to look at the nice snowy mountain view, great for relaxation!

Highly recommend this place for skiing and to stay the night to recharge!

After staying in a compact hotel in downtown Sapporo, we are delighted to find ourselves in a spacious room at the Asari Classe hotel. The room came with two single beds and a tatami deck upon which a japanese styled table and two floor chairs with backrests sat. That's where the delight ends.

After we checked in and were helped to our room by an English speaking porter, all service evaporated and English speaking staff vanished. When we got back from a day of shopping, we had to help ourselves to a trolley to unload all our purchases from the car, wheel the trolley to our room and then return the trolly to the main entrance because there wasn't a bellhop in sight. When we checked out, we had to push the trolley out the main entrance and load the suitcases to the car ourselves, again because there were no wait staff in sight. One evening we came home with take-out we wanted to heat up and no one at the service desk could understand we were asking for a microwave until I drew it for them to guess...like pictionary.

My hubby tried the onsen and came back to the room within 20 mins because the smell of cigarette smoke was so strong in the non-smoking indoor pool.

They are also missing the small touches. There's no free ice dispenser or ice bucket for you to collect your paid ice from the vending machine. There's no humidifier in the room. The one chair, toilet sink and beds are so low like the room was designed for elves. One side of our wardrobe door wouldn't open.

The breakfast spread seems large but the food is repeated daily and caters primarily to the tastebuds of domestic travelers. I had toast and cornflakes for all my breakfasts.

The hotel is located quite a distance from town so you should only consider staying here if you drove and if room space is especially important to you.

Greeting!

I spend 2 nights at asari classe hotel recently.

We had good and valuable time in your hotel.

I was so satisfied this hotel.

Especially beautiful spa and spacious and clean room. But the most touch thing is hearted service.

Actually I have never written a letter to hotel before but this time, I want to appreciate this great supoort. when I stay there, we lost 10 am shuttle bus but one lady at frontdesk helped us to go otaru chitko station by requesting another small bus. At that time I felt she really worry and concern about our journey and time. Thanks to driver and her help,  we could take our train without any problem. Thanks again.

We deeply appreciate your hearted service and hope stay your hotel again.

Best choice for this trip.

I recently had the pleasure of spending a lovely night in this hotel! The room was immaculate, very comfortable and spacious. The bathing facilities in the room were also excellent. The communal onsen, (spa) was both stylish and very comfortable and visiting the outdoor bath with the snow falling around me was a special moment for me.

Another special moment was the service. Having larger than average feet, the staff soon provided me with large slippers, something which does not happen often in this 'one size fits all' world!

The final memorable moment was undoubtedly the buffet breakfast which had a large selection of foods catering for all tastes. I stumbled onto the bacon and have to say it was the nicest bacon I have tasted in all the years I have lived in Japan

Thank you very much for a lovely night in this beautiful skiing resort!!!

You would need a car to get to this hotel. It is a huge complex located in Asari which is a suburb of Otaru. Very reasonably priced rooms, great breakfast, and very nice hot spring. The only downside is the gym-quite small and opens only at 10 am.

This time thank you very much for staying at Otaru Asari Classe Hotel from among several hotels. Also thank you again for your submission to the review. The hotel is located in the Asakura Onsen area about 30 minutes by car from Otaru city · tourist area. There are few eating and drinking establishments around, and honestly location is not good. We would like to respond as much as we can, but the current situation is that the service is not fully prepared. For those visiting on the bus, we will provide refund support for one way, we will guide you free of charge for guests coming by private car or car rental. It seems that you are satisfied with breakfast and hot springs, and I am happy. The outdoor bath creates a healing space as a lighting reminiscent of the fireflies' lights. When you come to Otaru please stay at Otaru Asari Classe Hotel. Thank you for your post.

Free shuttle bus from Otaru JR station. We had fried octopus and soybeans with a beer at their little bar. It was delicious. They had free breakfast buffet on the 2nd floor. We had excellent free dinners. You telephoned your reservations into the restaurant the first night. After dinner the first night they asked us where we wanted to eat. Both dinners were set menu's full of fresh and excellent seafood. The onsen was enjoyable. The service excellent.

We stayed in this hotel last week. While it is about 10 minutes' drive from JR Oatru Chikko Station, it actually runs shuttle service between the hotel and Otaru town. If you miss the shuttle time, you can just walk across the road to get a bus(one or two every hour). Service in the hotel is excellent. We were offered two rooms, one of which has strong smoke smell. They have no problem to give us another room without any problem.

Food serving in the restaurant is very good.

If you have children, do not forget to take them to the pottery classes just opposite the hotel.
