The term you get what you pay for is so true with this old, outdated and misleadingly located hotel.
For starters, its about 30 minutes from the airport, so they shouldn't call it the Mercure Hotel Narita airport.
The rooms are very old, the carpet...More
The hotel calls itself an airport hotel, but its takes 40 minutes by their free shuttle bus to get to the hotel, which is a little long for a short stopover. It would be OK if you are leaving on the train the next morning...More

You can contact the hotel before you travel for the schedule or upon arrival if you go to the Visitor Information desk in the Arrivals terminal, they also have the schedule. The bus is very easy to find outside the airport terminal, you will have no problem finding it, they will also tell you at the Visitor information desk where to meet the bus. It will definitely be on time so be there a few minutes before the time it is due to leave. I believe the bus runs every 1.5 - 2 hours from the airport to the hotel. It is not customary to tip in Japan so I would say no to the tip. I would highly recommend purchasing a JR Rail Pass before you travel to Japan. Enjoy all that Japan has to offer - it is truly incredible.
