This hotel is good for business people who are there for a specific purpose or a tourist who could not find accommodation in the heart of Sakuragi-cho and does not mind walking around. The hotel is accessible by subway and the shops and attractions aren't far away but just don't count on a good Japanese service or warm welcome "Omotenashi". When you reach the reception on level 2, there are check-in machines in front of the reception counter where the reception staff are busy doing their office work. They will not greet you or pay attention unless you are taking time checking in with the machine provided. If you cannot operate this machine, they can get annoyed for the customers to be interrupting their work. It's not a robot hotel but almost makes you feel like one. It can be cheap, but I recommend going elsewhere where the hotels showcase more Japanese style good service and staff.

This hotel is located walking distance from Minato Mirai, and next to a subway station, as well as close to the JR station, which makes moving in the city very convenient. Many dining restaurants nearby, and other landmarks like the Red Brick Warehouse and Cup Noodles museum are very close too. The rooms are small (typical in Japan) but convenient. It's a good value for the price to stay in one of the best areas in Yokohama!

Thank you for staying the other day. Also, this time I am grateful for the appreciated evaluation. Our hotel is not a luxury hotel. However, it is a hotel with "Clean rooms, cheap, comfortable beds, very good location" as a selling point. If you have the opportunity to come to Yokohama again, please come to our hotel again. Thank you.

The hotel seems to be quite old, but I could tell from the moment I entered that it was well-kept.

The air in the room was clean.

The bathroom area felt like a standard business hotel.

The bed was a queen size, but I was able to sleep comfortably.

It was good that the bed had an outlet.

All the amenities were available at the front desk (on the second floor), so I was able to use the bare minimum.

There was an air purifier. I turned it on, but I'm not sure if it was working properly.

The room was quiet.

And best of all, it's right outside Bashamichi Station Exit 3.

Very easy to access.
The port is just a short walk away.

The convenience store is within 5 minutes. You can see it, but it's across the main street. On the same side, there was the first Jonathan's main store in Japan? Or should I say?

Check-in was all automatic.

It doesn't seem to work well when you make a reservation in English, so I hope they update the system in that area. It seemed like there were a lot of foreign guests.

In summary, it was well maintained and we had a comfortable stay.

I booked this hotel because they had nice pictures of the view etc on another platform, advertising the spacious and good view property of theirs.

They charge for early check in, I arrived 2 hours early and they wanted to charge 2000 yen.

The room they assigned me had no view, and instead I could only see the wall of another building.

I have requested to change the room, they offered a downgrade with no refund of the difference quite unacceptable frankly.

Reception was extremely rude, and she went on to cancel my booking without even taking my consent.

I do not recommend this place, if you are a tourist and encounter problems and have no access to internet for example, you won’t be able to get in touch with your agency or platform where you booked it, and the staff are not helpful either.

The room that I saw had dirt stain everywhere, including water dropping from the phone for some reason. In times like this I’d expect a better hygiene also.

Right from the start upon checking in, dont feel good about it, the check in lobby is on the 2nd floor and upon stepping in to the building, can smell of vomit on the floor carpet.
The lift is extremely small and so is the check in lobby.
The female staffs are friendly though, cant say the same or the male staffs, they are pretty rude.
The room is extremely small at only 18meter square, we are glad we sent 1 luggage over to our next hotel otherwise we wont be able to open it in this small room.
I felt like a giant entering a dwarf house, it is that bad.
The only good thing is the location, in which it is near a subway station, but if you are playing around the entertainment areas, you will find yourself walking more than relying on the train, so the nearby subway station is pretty useless too.

This hotel was a great choice to stay prior to a cruise. The price was excellent for what you get. Because I booked far ahead, I was able to secure one of their larger rooms. Clean and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the Minatomirai line and a short walk to the Sakuragicho station for the JR line. Their breakfast buffet was pretty decent. We also used their laundry facilities prior to our cruise.

Best of all, the location is good.
The entrance to Bashamichi Station is right there.
If you walk a little further, you'll find a red brick warehouse, a convenience store nearby and nothing to say.

The room was clean and comfortable.

As a frequent traveler to Japan, I rarely get disappointed by my hotel experience and this hotel has to ruin it...

I booked a non-smoking room through a well known hotel booking site, a site that I have used dozens of times and never had any serious issue before. Upon arriving and checking in using the kiosk, the system assigned a smoking room to me instead. I tried to work through the discrepancy with the staff, but they insisted I booked a smoking room, which contradicts my confirmation email which clearly laid out I booked a non-smoking room.

I tried to explain I can't stay in smoking room because of my allergy but no dice. After some back and forth, they told me they are sold out of non-smoking room, so they have to give me a smoking room, but at the same time their own website show non-smoking room being available. I requested a cancellation so I can go somewhere else but that was also declined.

I called the booking site for help and because of my elite status with that site, they quickly called the hotel to address this issue. After even more back and forth, it turns out I can magically have non-smoking room, but I need to pay more money!!! This was 11pm at night and I had came from a long day of flights, so I was not in the mood to be extorted more money. The booking site overwrote the cancellation policy and took care of me. I then prompted rebooked another hotel just across the street, with plenty of non-smoking rooms.

Regardless if this was indeed some type of error or an effort to squeeze more money from me, the way the staff handled the situation was shocking to me. When I was able to show confirmation of non-smoking room, the issue should have been resolved there and then. This was slow season, and room occupancy was not even 50% for most hotels in the Bashamichi area, so I question their wisdom of losing me, a potential repeat customer, to one of their competitor across the street over this...

Be warned if you book this hotel via 3rd party booking site, you may not get the room you booked.

I'm very sorry for this trouble, but the reservation was made for smoking room so we were preparing for smoking room. I believe our staff explained that because you were planing to stay for few days, we were able to change to non-smoking room only one day. The next day was already fully booked so we could only offer higher grade room which costs extra charge. Our staff tried their best, but sorry that we couldn't help you at all. The staff talked to the booking site and we haven't charge any cancellation for this. I don't know if it was booking site's mistake or what, but if you showed the confirmation and proved that your booking was non-smoking, we might have done more things to help you.

I stayed at the Sotetsu Fresa for two nights while attending a conference in Yokohama... compared to the other hotels I was considering this turned out to be an absolute bargain! The location is fantastic, right at the entrance to the Bashamichi Subway Station, from where you can ride directly to Minatomirai, Yokohama Station, or even Shibuya in Tokyo. The hotel is also within walking distance of some great restaurants and bars in Sakuragicho, Landmark Tower and the waterfront, as well as Chinatown (if you are up for a somewhat longer stroll)

The service was friendly and efficient, the room was the perfect size, everything was nice and new and clean, and I have no complaints about my stay. Great option in Yokohama!

Stayed 1 night at this hotel and jumped on the Diamond Princess the next day. Room was nice and hotel was quiet even though full. Can't beat the location. If you are coming from Tokyo Narita airport, do yourself a favor and take the NEX train from Narita airport to Yokohama rather than the limousine bus. The train kiosk attendants are very helpful and getting a ticket is super easy, even if you speak no Japanese. Make ABSOLUTELY SURE you get on the right train car as the train splits and becomes 2 trains mid journey. At Yokohama, change to the Minatomirai line for 3 stops. Ticket machines are available in English and the fare is 180 yen. You will get off at Bashamichi station. When you exit the station look for exit #3. At the top of the stairs, the hotel is directly to your left. Enter and take the elevator to the 2nd floor which is where the lobby is located. While the staff speaks very little English they are very kind. Breakfast is fantastic and the old man running the buffet is nothing but smiles and outgoing. A great value and exceptional stay so close to everything. If you don't have a ton of baggage the cruise terminal is an easy walk about 8 blocks away. Otherwise, jump right back on the metro for 1 stop in the same direction and you will be 2 blocks from the terminal. BTW...great little french patisserie just inside the metro station in case you need a snack or breakfast on the go. It is before the turnstyles so no need to ride to access a tasty croissant. Hotel is perfectly safe to walk around at night or to and from Chinatown.

Thank you for staying at Sotetsu Fresa-Inn Yokohama. I'm so happy to hear your generous feedback. To the cruise port, it has quit distance, but either you can take a walk about 10 minutes or use subway train to the port. Since the subway station is very close to our hotel, it is easy to have sight seeing or even you can walk around and see the popular spots. Also, It is good to know that you could enjoyed your stay at our hotel and had a good time. Hope you had great time on the cruise ship and if you have another chance to come Yokohama, please come to stay with us again. I appreciate your comments.

Hi! Taxi from Narita to Yokohama is expensive, it is a 2 hour drive. I paid about 300 Euro. The staff at the train-information are great and can help you out where to change (there are several options) to get to Yokohama either the central station (5 min walk from the hotel, several lines stop here) or the Minato mirai line that stops just outside. All the sightseeing mentioned above is walking distance, ChinaTown is 15 minutes walk and the port about 10-15 minutes from the hotel. There are Maps at the hotel :) there are a few great parks to see if you take the Minato mirai line further on, those are nice. My room was clean and fresh, I stayed for a week. And its cheap, so moneys worth for me absolutely. Good luck and safe Journey.
