This was one of three ryokans during our stay in Japan and supposed to be the finest one (priciest at least). The location was excellent: close to Toshogu shrine and right next to a river with murmuring of the rapids audible to the rooms and baths. Actually, there is a road between the ryokan and the river that does not...

Our room's large windows overlooked the river and we listened to the water all night. In the morning, watching the fog rise from the trees was spectacular. Similar views could be had from the public bath on the roof, which was large, private and well-appointed. There were some nice touches, like our names on signs when we entered and to...

This ryokan has a superb location for visiting the shrines and temples of Nikko. The rooms all face the rear of the structure, where there is a very calming small river. The food was varied and there was plenty of it. Meals (breakfast and dinner) were served in private rooms but not IN your room, as some ryokans do. Overall,...

Stayed in room with private onsen. Was just wonderful. Comfortable futons. Spacious, clean room. Gorgeous view of river. Unbelievable food. Steps from world heritage site. Everything was done carefully and with both class and quietude. Was incredibly relaxing...I think I took 8 baths in less than 2 days!

This ryokan dose not have real hot spring. The water in the public bath is nothing like that. But the scenery from the bath, room is so nice and you can feel the nature itself. The ryokan is also near to Toshoku and Shinkyo. You can walk from the ryokan. We had dinner and breakfast there and food was fresh...

So friendly- our first experience of Japan and the customs re Yukatas and food, staff patiently walked us through the intricacies of the Onsen. Food was amazing. Would stay there again without a doubt. Free bus back to the station and close to the main shrine/ temples.

We had a magical time here during our stay in Nikko. The location is super convenient - literally steps away from the Toshugu Shrine complex and several museums, and a short walk from Nikko town. We were lucky enough to have a private, open air bath in our room with a breath-taking view of the mountain and river. This alone...

We stayed in a room with a private onsen and there truly was nothing like it. It was amazing. We went in winter, relaxing in the hot onsen with the window fully open for he cold air to come in was just beautiful. The room was tidy and clean and the futon on the floor was more comfortable then a...

Had a corner room which was big enough for 4 (incl a 5 and 2 year old). Great view of the river from the room. Food was excellent and lots of variety. They also paid attention to tailoring food choice for the kids. Great location and friendly staff. The ryokan experience was really good. Good onsen. Top spot. An enjoyable...

We really enjoyed spending our last two nights in Japan in this ryokan. Staff was very polite and service was excellent. Our room was bright and spacious and overlooked the mountain and the river. The onsen was very pleasant too, with a very relaxing inside and outside bath for both men and women. Breakfasts and dinners were served in a...
