I found this ryokan completely by chance - it was too busy in Tokyo and I was looking for 1 night "Getaway". The only thing I am sorry about is that we didn't have enough time to stay there more... Lovely owners with limited English but trying so much to make your stay as pleasant as possible... Beautiful river and...

Our first visit to countryside hotel in Japan. We visited in winter and walked all over Nikko. Our room was warm, clean, and comfortable. The morning meal was very good and well prepared. We would definitely stay her the next time we visit Nikko.

We loved staying here. It is a really cute, cosy inn set in a tranquil, quite spot. The owners are so welcoming and speak good English. They are more than happy to help with any questions and give good advice. We booked a twin room but ended up getting a family room with a double and single bed in it....

You couldn't ask for a better location than the Turtle Inn; it's far enough off the main roads to have no traffic noise, but walk 10 minutes and you're smack in the middle of the main sights in Nikko. There's a post office about 5 minutes' walk away, handy for withdrawing cash using a foreign ATM card. The kaiseki-style dinner...

The cutest Inn! Very friendly staff, it has a really nice, homely feel to it. We stayed as a group, and took up all the rooms (it was a last minute booking, and they were SO accommodating). Stayed in a room with 3 other women, and we had futons (which were very comfortable), and the rooms were warm, and I...

Turtle Inn, in terms of location, is about as perfect as you can get. It is a 10 minute walk max from everything worth seeing in Nikko. The inn itself (and I'm talking about the older building - there is a newer annexe) is no frills. However, it is very comfortable, and very clean. The shared bathroom and toilet facilities...

My husband and I stayed here while traveling around Japan. We were here in the off season and were the only guests during our stay. There aren't very many rooms and it was very inexpensive for Nikko. The room was Japanese style, with a heater that worked wonderfully to take the chill off, a small table and a tv. Our...

My son lives in Tokyo but comes to Nikko to visit the sties. He introduced me to the Turtle Inn. As mentioned, the owners are very friendly. Japanese and western rooms available. Two hot baths- the large one is quite nice. Walls are very thin, bathrooms are clean. There was a TV and a heater in the room.Affordable rates by...

You can't beat this inn for it's location relative to the Shrines and Temples of Nikko. If you want to get a jump on the bus loads of tourists, then definitely stay here. It's a short (10 to 15 minute) walk up hill to reach the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The inn itself is small, well run, and friendly. There...

The position is a real advantage because it is very close to many places of interest and has some good value eating places close by. It is quite a distance from the JR Nikko with luggage so we opted for a taxi to and from Turtle Inn Nikko. The fare was less than 1000yen each way and it conserved our...
