We stayed at this hotel for one night during a two-week tour of Japan. The building is charming and historic - we were even presented with a small booklet about the history of the place (in Japanese). It is located on top of a hill,...More

We only booked this hotel late in the afternoon on Bookings.com & got a good deal. The room was big for Japan. We could walk to the deer park. We also went to a German Beer Festival which only took 10mins to walk to. The...More
This really is a classic hotel. Some might call the "new" wing dated but its now I think better to call it retro. With the destruction of the old Okura this is an even rarer treat. The old wing has fantastic Japanese-ish rooms that are...More

yes across the road there is a couple of shops n restaurants. Also main shopping area with famous mochi shops about 15 min walk back towards town. I had a great kaiseki meal in a restaurant in the mall. I cant remember the name of the restaurant but it has groceries at front and is nxt to a sock store. Btw it was a third of the price of the kaiseki meal I had at the Nara hotel.

I am not sure as we were there in the Fall. It is right next to a large park and there are trees everywhere in Nara; however, you would need to check with a local to find out when and where blossoming occurs. They have an excellent visitors centre with many people whom speak English. You can find their link by Googling Nara City Tourist information Center. Good luck!
