I was excited to visit Villa Mela in Malindi rated as a 5 star hotel on booking.com.... but how disappointing... Thank god it was a one night booking. Fantastic property but not much investment is being ploughed back. The host is a lovely soul and it's a pity the quality of house keeping is below standard. Finally... 2 things: If... More

I have stayed at a few places in Malindi, usually am there on work and on a tight budget. Mela's B&B was superb and very economical. I enjoyed every aspect about the guest house, the Room, the Bed, the Shower, the Breakfast and the environment. Just a few minutes away from the Old Town and restaurants. It has AC and... More

Great place and will definitely be back. Beautiful house, lovely gardens, good pool (not very big, a few stroke end to end and deep enough to dive), great staff and just a few minutes walk to the beach. Very peaceful. Some good restaurants close by or you can eat in. Recommended

We stay at Mela's for 3 nights. Since there were only few other guests, its a very calm place and we felt like owning the place, haha. Swimming in the pool, relaxing on the terrace or sitting in the graden - and spent some time alone in privacy. We finally were able to relax after several weeks in busy and... More

The Villa Mela is a lovely, quiet place to stay in Malindi, because the house is so lovely. Giovanni and Wilma are adorable, helpful, caring and really nice hosts, who will do everything they can to make of your stay a nice time and to advise you on what to see, where to go. They are really flexible with your... More

Located a few minutes walk from beach, it is easy to relax in quiet comfort. The grounds are full of tropical plants, flowers and palm trees. Palm thatched coverings shelter you from the sun as you relax on comfortable couches and chairs, around the pool. The rooms are very comfortable and each is uniquely furnished with native art and comfortable... More

Giovanni, the owner and his staff more than adequately supplement this lovely quiet B&B which is little more than 5 minutes walk from lovely beaches. The accommodation is beautifully furnished with old Swahili furnishings; all 4 rooms are ensuite; the staff will prepare lovely meals for those evenings when you want to stay in. I recommend it fully. John Craven

This small villa is a perfect choice for short or long stay in Malindi. The building, furnishings, rooms, staff, gardens and pool are all top quality and you feel like you've found a secret gem and can't believe your luck. Highly recommended. I stayed for a week and could have happily sat out on the airy, spacious verandah for another.
