We came here to hike the tsingy and had a glorious time with our guides. This lodge was just fine, with plain but cute bungalows, clean and quiet. Birds and wildlife (like a giant chameleon) abound. Our meals were tasty, a mix of French-Malagasy style. There was a nice pool. One had the feeling that more Malagasy than foreign tourists...

The location of Ankarana Lodge is perfect. However, the lodge’s management takes advantage of its being the only decent hotel in the vicinity of Ankarana National Park and the lodge is very badly overpriced. (There is only one other place but it is extremely basic, to put it mildly, and also grossly overpriced). The nicest things about this hotel are...

Travel company literature describe the Lodge as 'simple'. Our room was basic, but do we really expect massive beds, huge rooms, designer decor, luxury toiletries when out and about in rural Madagascar? Basic was fine - comfortable bed, aircon in the evening, lots of hot water in basin and shower, spotlessly clean, light and airy. We found the atmosphere friendly...

We stayed for two nights and also arranged a guide and transport from Diego Suarez to Ankify through the lodge. In regards to the accommodation, we were disappointed. The pool and garden are nice, some of the food was quite good considering it is a remote area and the staff were quite helpful, but we had a few issues: -...

Our trip was organised by Cactus Tours Madagascar, Charlie was amazing. Our guide Edi was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were told this hotel was the best choice in the area. The swimming pool was amazing. We could spend hours there, having drinks, reading and playing chess. It is VERY close to Ankarana Park which is great. The staff were...

A number of reviews do not rate this hotel well. We can not justify their ratings as to us Ankarana Lodge ticked most of the boxes. Rooms are comfortable and food was very good. The pool is an excellent chilling experience after a long drive on Route National 6. We had the added bonus of a visitation of lemurs visiting...

This lodge is a strange place. No reception, the man that mans the poolbar does the admittance, you are booked straight to your room. The rooms are basic at best. They do have aircon from 18.00h but the aircon is situated straight above the bed so if you use it you'll be too cold. We had to ask for extra...

You are right is a strange place in a natural area, far away from the civilisation, with a big and wild private park and a lot of wildlife(you mentioned lemurs) just around the lodge. The reception and the parking place is not nearby the pool and the accomodation so the driver took you directly to the bungalows. Sorry but we...

the place is nice and comfortable, it can also eat well (as everywhere in Madagascar) but the price is too expensive, at least 40% more. Maybe they take advantage that there are not many alternatives.

Basic / standard hotel run by a nice German that actually built the hotel and cabins himself. Best choice in the area. Reasonable good restaurant. Swimming pool has comfortable chairs/beds. Cabins are clean, airconditioning works from 6 pm to 10 pm. If possible and if may choose, select the individual cabins and not the rooms in the seperate building.

Our Travel Agents had described the hotel in their briefing as 'Simple'. That, in our view, does it an injustice. The lodges have 24-hour electricity, albeit that the air-con is on for only a few hours in the evening; but there is an extremely efficient fan in each room, and the rooms themselves are well, if modestly, fitted out. And...
