Kara O'Mula claims to have camping facilities. We were put on a lawn with access to a toilet and a shower - cleanliness could have improved. There was no light and no hot water because of the power cuts that beset Malawi, so that was nobody's fault. The campsite was overrun by baboons - really scary and not at safe,...

What a perfect place this could be, if renovated and property maintained. The setting of the lodge is amidst lush indigenous trees, just by the forest climbing up Mount Mulanje, and the gardening is nice too. In the early morning there were monkeys all around, jumping from one branch to the other. However, the interior of our room was the...

Came here for a drink and dinner one night in Malawi. After climbing the hill it is a beautiful place to watch the sunset and you can see for miles around. Asked for some drinks and very very few mixers were available - a cross between ginger ale and lime cordial were the only ones on offer really! Stayed for...

Unfortunate one of the locations in Africa which were great but suffer too much from low maintenance and missing experience. Although the location is excellent, you have briljant views and perfect possibilities to walk, the accomodation gets poor. Service is well willing but missing the experience. No problem to stay for a night but do not expect something high end!

The Kara O’Mula Country Lodge is a very nice complex that offers numerous rooms for overnight stay and a good restaurant. The rooms are spacious and open onto a porch where you can enjoy a beautiful view. The rooms were all very clean and comfortable (although the decor there it seemed a little bit dated). All with private bathroom and...

The property has not been taken care of. We didnt stay here, just had lunch. And even though there werent many patrons in the hotel, the service was very slow. And when we did got the food, they got us the wrong order. It was corrected later, but it took even more time. Reaching here is a challenge in itself....

The expectation to visit the lodge was high but the disappointment of the resort was great. The executive room at $65 per night is not even a 1* star rating worth. Entering the room and bathroom reminds you of the 1980's. The workers in the restaurant, Bar, swimming pool at the lodge are very friendly. The run-down of such beautiful...

We were very disappointed with this hotel, we arrived late in the evening so didn't have much choice but to stay. The accommodation was really overpriced, our 'executive room' cost USD$110 and was not worth it, the room was messy more like a backpackers hostel, there were no towels and the shower didn't work very well. It was the most...

Haven't stayed here, but plan to. We were making an exploratory visit to Mulanje, hopefully the first of several trips, and started a brief ramble on the mountain from the site of this lodge. The location is glorious, and the staff and service very pleasant. We had only a light lunch, but it was very good. We expect to stay...

I recently stayed at the lodge for one night. We arrived just in time for the sunset which was just beautiful. Staff were all so kind and welcoming, food was lovely and rooms were of very good quality. My colleague used the swimming pool and said it was a lovely setting. Would certainly recommend for a beautiful stay!

Thank Carly S

“We stayed in Room 9 in what we referred to as "the treehouse." It was large with a queen and a double bed. Don't expect it to be quiet as the floors and walls aren't well soundproofed. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. I personally had no trouble at all!”
