Staff is friendly as well.
The photo was a cosy single bed in a room with window. See screenshot of Agoda ad. I emailed the property just to be double sure but no one responded. It’s either the property or Agoda trying to mislead the guest.
The room is without window which was not mentioned at the time of booking. It has no proper ventilation. The room smelt of dampness and mould.
The worst part was they used extremely strong floor cleaning chemical trying to get rid or to cover the musky smell. I had to leave the door opened for awhile to avoid being suffocated.
My whole body itches when I laid on the bed. The bed could be infested with mites. This explains because the room doesn’t get ventilated at all and is in total darkness and damp when it is not occupied.
On the first night, I had to place my towel above the mattress to sleep on.
They did some house keeping to the room on the second day. I felt less bites and tried to sleep.
The third night which was my last night, the bed was unbearable to even sit on.
The AC filter definitely has never been cleaned. It has bad smell when it is switched on. Again, I had to leave the door opened for awhile whenever I returned to the room.
My bed was against the wall which is the next room’s toilet. The wall is so thin that when the next room flushes the toilet or switch on the tap, it is as though I am sleeping right in the toilet. It is so obvious to see that water is sipping through the walls too.
I asked if I could change the room. I was told the hotel is full. However I don’t hear or hardly see anyone occupying the second floor I am on. The hotel staff is just reluctant to change my room. I would have paid extra for a better room. Receptionists were simply too engrossed in chatting on the phone.
My days were rather packed with appointments. I was just hoping to get a simple room for a good night sleep.
This room was a disaster.
On the second night I developed a very bad cough and had a bad asthma attack. I had to wear a mask the whole time I am in the room so it won’t trigger more asthma attack and other allergies.
This property should be held accountable for causing such distress to my health.
This was a very bad experience to book this property.
It was also out of the way. There is only a long row of shops, not much of choices for food. How much McDonalds can one eat, which is not too far from this hotel. Unless one has a car to move around. Otherwise, you just have to get a taxi to get around and out of this area, which really has nothing enticing for a traveller.
Our room is on the ground floor, very close to the reception area. At 1AM in the morning, the sound of the television from the lounge area can be clearly heard, we have to call the reception to switch that off. Without any apology they did switch off the TV, but right after that, someone's mobile phone messages notifications keep beeping non-stop.
We didn't have a good night sleep. Door openings, bell ringing (main entrance), people chatting... have been very annoying and kept us awake!
Overall recommended as it us good value for money.
The hotel is located within the vicinity of another established hotel - Thistle Johor Bahru - and also walking distance from Johor's famed football team's (JDT) training ground.
Located near the hotels are also F&B outlets which offer a variety of menu choices. McDonald's, Pizza Hut and KFC are also within walking distance. Others: WiFi - fast, met our requirement TV - limited channels, some fuzzy reception.
I must admit that the room is super duper small BUT it is sufficient for my husband & I along with our 15 months old daughter. For such a small room, the attached bathroom was quite spacious (and they have hot water & good water pressure). Bed, floor, bathroom was all clean. They also have a male & female prayer room (on the ground floor) so you don't have to pray in your room (because it's really small). They provide free coffee at the lobby and they also sell some snacks & packet drinks at the lobby in case you get hungry).
And the staff at the counter is super nice & helpful.
All in all, if you just want a place to sleep well for the night, this hotel is the perfect choice - clean & cheap! If you're looking to be on a holiday where you can laze around and spend time in the room all day, this hotel is definitely NOT suitable for you.
