St. Giles Southkey hotel garners praise for its clean, spacious rooms with impressive views, although a few guests have noted inconsistencies in housekeeping. The staff is frequently commended for their attentive service, contributing to the hotel's welcoming atmosphere underlined by high ceilings and large windows.
Its strategic location near malls and restaurants is popular among guests, despite some feedback suggesting improvements in layout. While amenities like mall access are a plus, opinions on value for money are divided, with some travelers questioning the cost in relation to the provided amenities and parking.

Detailed Reviews

The hotel is at the best location (direct access to The Mall, Midvalley Southkey), which you could go for shopping whenever you want.
The room is spacious and clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable. TV in room has limited channels but there are a lot of free movies and the movies are quite updated.
The bathroom is very clean, strong water pressure which i really love it. A minor issue would be the drainage not able to flow the water fast and get flooded for awhile during bathing.
The breakfast spread is good with a lot of varieties. The food items served are fresh and taste good as well except the Dim Sum. Their pastry not bad too, which is better than what i expect.
The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. They attended to my request (asking for a bath towel) very fast and even follow up with me by calling the room to make sure that the bath towel has been sent to me.
I had experience with many hotels that i need to wait a long period of time and keep calling in order to get the amenities i requested.
We enjoyed the stay in this hotel and i think it is worthwhile to stay in this hotel when you are in JB.

Stayed in St Giles Southkey for 3 nights to take advantage of their new hotel launch offer. Stayed in Urban King Room that has a king-size bed. Very spacious in room space. Toilet is also relatively larger than most other hotels. The hotel has a water dispenser so there’s no need to buy mineral water. This means saving some money on drinking water!
Hotel is situated about 10mins away from JB Sentral. It is located together with Midvalley Southkey shopping mall where food and shopping are easily accessible.
Breakfast is included in the hotel price and has a good spread of breakfast items and are enjoyable. Notice that the weekend will be crowded as I heard from a staff telling a guest the hotel would have 500 guests on Sunday for breakfast.
There's a mix of TV programmes and movies to watch for free. Movies are of good quality such as Black Widow and Eternals and are free, maybe for the moment!

Stayed here twice since it opened.
Location is good as it is next to Midvalley Southkey. Parking is easy with the huge carpark attached to the mall. Take note that the carpark is not 24 hours so your car might be locked in overnight, which enhances safety in a way. RM5 per entry by validating your card at the counter.
Room is decent, the bed in the urban king room feels more like a queen size. Cleanliness can be improved - we found a sweet wrapper under the bed; there was a stain on one of the pillow case; one of the face towel was badly stained with blood (poor QC check after washing).
Breakfast queue can be long, although food was ok. Maybe can consider providing a cheaper rate for guests who do not need breakfast.
Staff are friendly although check in process can be more efficient.
TV has limited channels - should provide more international channels like BBC, Nat Geo, Discovery.
On our first night, there was no hot water and the toilet bowl cannot be flushed. Called the reception the next morning who sent someone up to fix rather quickly, thank you for the quick response. Was told that the boiler broke down the previous night.
Housekeeping might be slower than usual in making up the rooms. They came at about 6pm to clean the room but we said no need to clean and only requested for a set of new towels. I guess it is like that for many hotels nowadays due to the manpower shortage and high occupancy.

The hotel is in Midvalley Southkey mall hence it is very convenient as everything one might need can be purchased in the mall. It feels very safe as well. The pool looks great and there is a small lounge upstairs at Level 28 where there is happy hour from 5-7pm and a live band playing at night during the weekend.
The hotel is generally clean as well. If you reach before the checkin time, the staff will help with the check in process first even if the room is not yet ready to help to save time when checking in at 3pm as we can just pass the form to the concierge to collect our keys instead of queueing for a long time at 3pm when everyone is checking in which helps with the crowd. The staff in the morning at the concierge is really friendly as well.
There were however some small hiccups when we requested for plates and utensils to be sent to the room to consume some food in the room. The first time was at night when we called multiple times to the front desk and it took more than an hour for the plates and utensils to arrive. As the request was made at night, we thought it might be due to them being understaffed for the night shift.
We requested for plates and utensils again in the late afternoon the next day thinking that it would be much faster and we wanted to just finish our food and leave the hotel to go on with our day. However, it still took us more than an hour before we receive the items which does not seem very reasonable. We have called the staff at the desk services who was very nice and helped us to follow up with the FnB team who was supposed to send the items. This has definitely disrupted our plans as we have to wait more than an hour in the late afternoon just for plates and cutleries which left a bad taste in our month.
Overall, the room is nice and most of the staff we interacted with are helpful and friendly however, the FnB staff service team needs significant improvement due to the extremely slow service they provided.

Currently missing our stay a lot! We had a great time at the hotel!
+ Check in was smooth, and staff was prompt to help us with our bags. Although we didn't manage to get connecting rooms (only urban twin + urban king combination has this option), we still managed to get rooms near each other on the same floor.
+ Room was very nice and clean, as hotel is still new. Bed is comfortable and amenities provided were adequate (the usual towels, toothbrush kits etc.). We requested housekeeping to send up more items like comb as we needed those. Smart TV provided a few channels, and some movies. We used the screen mirroring to keep ourselves entertained.
+ We really liked how the sofa was designed to be by the window. I spent quite a long time staring out of the window, as we faced the river and could see the beautiful sunrise.
+All the staff we came across was very professional - from front desk to the Causeway Cafe and the security/bellhop. Thumbs up to Ganesh who was very proactive and helped us load the bags on our way home. These staff are the most important, as they are usually the first and last staff that guests interact with, so great that St Giles has trained them well.
+The view from the infinity pool was good, although a bit small. There's no kids pool per se but there's a small shallow separate section (0.6m) that is suitable for toddlers and above to have a splash around.
There are however some things that could be improved on.
- The breakfast queue for Causeway Cafe was so long, and the rooms for the hotel is not fully open yet. If its at full capacity, I think the breakfast wait will be very very long despite the staff clearing plates and tables as fast as they could. I really think that another space needs to be opened for seating at peak hours, as I could see some unhappiness in the guests that were waiting in line.
- There are some design flaws eg. when the bathroom door is fully open, the entrance to the shower is fully blocked, probably due to the small area. At the lobby, there is also a step which you need to go up and one part is slanting. Although it looks aesthetically pleasing, its actually not practical for kids and elderly. One elderly man slipped and had a hard fall while I was at the lobby. Perhaps the hotel might need to put a warning tape at the step.
All in all, I had a great stay and it was so convenient to just head into Southkey mall within a few steps. I'll be back once their bedroom suites are open!

Pros:
1. The ground floor is connected to a mega mall. Very convenient to shop and dine.
2. Room is very clean and new because the hotel is recently opened. In fact, the rooms on the upper floors are not opened yet.
3. At only 7km away from JB Sentral, you can get there in less than 20 mins by taxi.
4. Very helpful and pleasant staff.
5. Good value for money.
Areas for Improvement:
1. The Guest Service counter was not contactable almost 90% of the time I called.
2. Room 1917 was problematic. The safe box was out-of-order. The bathroom took a long time to drain the water away before the next person could shower. The main door could not shut fully on its own. We had to pull it shut manually. Hence had we forgotten to check, we could have left the room with the door still partially open without realising it, thereby risking our belongings.
3. The TV in Room 1918 could not connect to the network twice.
4. This is the first time I stayed at a hotel which does not offer in-room dining. I almost had to go hungry for the entire night if not for the chocolate bar I brought from home. Imagine people who arrive late in the evening and feeling hungry, only to find no food available.

Great ambiance, great service and great food especially the Bubur kacang hijau with Durian that must be the best one I have ever had in my life! The manager, Mr Nazrul, is also very courteous to bring us to our seating place and ask us whether we are enjoying the food there. The waitresses are also very professional like Mr Nazrul, always quick at removing used plates to provide space for our next plate or plates of food. It was a really enjoyable experience to have a hi tea buffet at Causeway Cafe.

Thank you so much Fara for being so helpful and wonderful in sorting out my reservation! Thank you very much Manager Elaine for being such a unassuming, patient and kind manager. I appreciate both your help very much and enjoyed my stay.
I had a top floor, nice and clean room. Quiet and peaceful. All the rooms in the hotel are non-smoking and I didnt smell any smoke anywhere. The staff here impressed me so much that I want to extend my stay.

Took advantages of soft launch promo rate and stayed for 2 nights in early November due to toilets renovation works. The facilities obviously are new and many took advantage of good rate hence rooms were pretty well occupied. Room layout fittings and fixtures are quite typical of 5 star business hotel offering more for pragmatic and functionality. Morning breakfast offerings were quite standard nothing much unusual or surprises. Good to have more staff at lobby as seeing long lines most of the time when pass by to the mid valley mall :-)

Stayed here for 2 nights. Staff allowed early check in, room was big with all the amenities one will need. Eco friendly hotel as they do not provide you with water bottles but with a refillable bottle that you can refill at the dispenser at every level.
The room had over 100 over free e movies to choose from various genres which was the biggest advantage from other hotels. Breakfast was not really satisfactory. Limited spread of dishes & the food didn't taste anything spectacular. Egg station had snaking queues both times I ate here.
Roof top bar was not really good as they had very few choices of drinks. Pool was small but okay.
This hotel is connected to the Mid Valley shopping centre which is an added bonus as we ate in the mall itself,
Check in & check out was a breeze,. Will return again.
