Detailed Reviews
This hotel waived their cancellation fee once we asked for it because we could not arrive to Malaysia due to the f... up of Qatar Airways. We are truly grateful. Please keep that in mind when booking and we will definitely choose them when we go to Malaysia next time.

A no fuss hotel for a night stay. Limited Parking in front of hotel, other hotel parking is at level 5. Carpark lift will reach the corridor at the front of lobby. Lift to room level is only accessible by hotel card. Deposit of $50 per room return upon check out. Room amenities such as toothbrush/ shampoo/ shower gel are provided. We checked in at 11.30pm and receptionist saw us via security camera and open the security door to lobby for check in.

Overall a good stay. The counter service staff is good. You can either park at the 5th storey cross the bridge or in front of the lobby if there is space. We stay at the double queen bedroom. The bed is comfy. There is hair dryer, kettle and basic amenities provided. The cleanliness wise still can improve and the tv in our room is not working but it’s ok. The Wi-Fi speed is good also. Thank you fives n team.

Hotel entrance concealed as it was nested in an industrial building. Right outside the hotel lobby reception was a drive way and smell of sewage was prevailing. Room 323 smell of cigarette. Tv was not working. During shower, the water was not always hot. The pillow case appeared to be more grey than white. We found a hole and a stain on the bed sheet. Spider web could be seen on the shelving. Hotel policy is to collect MYR 50 which is refundable upon checkout. There is much to improve on. A disappointing stay.

There are three Fives Hotel here in Johor Bahru. I had previously stayed in the Meldrum branch and this time, I decided to stay at DNP. The hotel is inside a building known as Plaza DNP and hence its hotel name.
On my way to the hotel, I had apprehension on the hotel condition and its quality. The Plaza where the hotel is situated looks old and unkempt, which is reminiscent of Golden Mile Complex in Singapore. However this was dispelled immediately upon entering the hotel lobby which features a modern looking front desk. The hotel corridor is also aesthetically pleasing.
There are only two levels of guest rooms in this property, namely 3 and 3A. A keycard is required to enter the guest lift. I had booked the Standard King Room and was accommodated in Room No 418 on level 3A. I had read reviews of noise from a neighbouring pub and as such had requested for a quiet room. I am glad my room faces a quiet road, away from the noise of the bar and eateries. The room is spacious at 27 square metres. The air-conditioning unit worked well and cooled the room efficiently. I am delighted there are four pillows on the king size bed.
For TV entertainment, there are local and Singapore TV programmes. However, the unit is a non-Smart TV. The Wi-Fi worked well during my one night stay here. The room is thoughtfully designed in that there are two USB charging ports at the bedside. The room amenities include dental kit, shower gel, conditioning shampoo, hair dryer, disposable slippers, iron and ironing board, electronic safe and a mini fridge. I am surprised body lotion and comb are even provided. Additionally, there are bottled water, coffee, tea and a kettle. The shower pressure for the rain shower seemed stronger compared to the handheld spray. Do remember to turn on the water heater switch outside the bathroom before each shower.
Amenities such as 24hrs convenience stores and eateries are abundant in the hotel vicinity. There are some Thai and Japanese restaurants in Plaza DNP. Lined along the plaza are two roads called Jalan Dato Sulaiman and Jalan Dato Abdullah Tahir, where many eateries can be found. The former is great for day dining, while the latter is popular for night dining. As there is no restaurant at the hotel, you can consider having your breakfast at these halal eateries, Yummy Nasi Lemak House Johor Bahru or Dapo’ Khaleeda. Both are located on Jalan Dato Sulaiman, where several Chinese eateries can be found there as well. For dinner, you can head to this halal establishment, Banafee Village Restaurant along Jalan Dato Abdullah Tahir, which is a 6mins (400m) walk from the hotel.
Opened in 2022, Fives Hotel DNP still looks new and is well maintained. I am also satisfied with its room cleanliness. Whilst its location may not be very ideal, I like that it is quite near to KSL City and Taman Pelangi. Compared to Fives Hotel Meldrum which also offers an affordable rate, I would recommend a stay here for its spacious room and 5-star room amenities.
