stayed a night here and it’s honestly good even though its already been 40+ years and still standing, the decorations were obviously outdated but i still loved the 1970s brutalist architecture and style, the rooms were good enough for the price and the view was amazing but the pillows and mattresses were hard but sleep-able for me but other than that it’s been a good stay in this hotel,
I assume this hotel as a budget hotel because there is no breakfast.Cafe open from 1030 (if not mistaken) until 3pm. Finding eatery places is not a big issue since there are few restaurant nearby. In fact you can have your breakfast or dinner at the 5 star hotel nearby. Room is comfort & clean. You have to go to front desk to get drinking water & tissue since they do not have enough housekeeping staffs. This is the setback service provided by the hotel You can park your car either at open parking area or basement. Since its not hassle for us to look for foods, we consider to come again to this hotel.
STAY AWAY! Yellow water, musty odor in the room, cleaning service had their lunch in the room they're preparing for you, while the other cleaning service staffs just do their job WITHOUT wearing their masks. FULL STORY: I booked a room for a short family vacation at the end of April 2022, the hotel was a bit discreet from the outside, and the local grab driver couldn't find it easily. When we arrived at the premises, we had to wait for about 30 mins in the lobby. Once we got the key, we went up through the lift. The lift was super old (like the lift that you see in old apartments). And when we reached the 19 floor, where our hotel room is, we were quite surprised that we smelled cigarette smokes right after the lift door was opened. It was like the whole floor was a smoking-friendly zone, and our non-smoking room was the only one different there. When we reached the room, we saw the cleaning service ladies still doing their job (WITHOUT wearing their masks!!!) so we had to wait outside of the room for another 5-10 mins. While waiting, we realized that some of the ladies were having their lunch in the room (that they were preparing for the guests??? shouldn't they have their lunch somewhere else??). After they were done with their business, we went into the room, put down our luggage & checked how to change the aircon temp & fan speed, what was there in the minibar, which button turns on/off which lamp, etc., including the shower & sink. To our surprise, the water was YELLOW (as yellow as the liquid soap provided). While the adults might still be able to tolerate the water quality, because we were traveling with a baby, we decided to find another hotel right away. Then we went down to the receptionist and when I told her about the situation, she apologized right away that there was nothing they could do except for refunding my booking (she told me that the hotel was fully booked). However, because the booking was made through Traveloka using my credit card (and Traveloka didn't allow a refund for this booking), she told me that they will transfer the money to my bank account instead (which was why I gave her the bank account number). This case has been in dispute in Traveloka for almost 3 months until today, July 28th, 2022. I've submitted my review in Traveloka, but it's not displayed in the hotel review at all. (I don't know whether it's Traveloka or the hotel that blocked my review to be displayed. Let's guess whose rotten way of business blocked their customers' honest reviews, instead of admitting their mistakes & try to find a way to fix them and improve) We moved to another accommodation right away on the same day, and the new place actually provided us with a lot better place (newer building), better environments, better facilities, super friendly & honest staff, and much cheaper than this place.…
Location : The hotel is centrally located in the heart of JB. It is within walking distances to the CS and JBCC and there are a lot of eateries surrounding the area. The taxi driver might not know the location, you can mention the former Tropical Inn. The hotel is located just the opposite of the Double Tree. It is easily reachable by cars and surely strategic. Lobby : The lobby is spacious in size and very clean too. The cleanliness of the area is simply spotless. The check in process is smooth and quick. I was briefed about car exiting the hotel and also the breakfast area. The lady attending me surely speaks super soft. Room : 1907, facing the city, the view is magnificent. I booked for Deluxe Queen but I got Deluxe triple. Thank you Jo Hotel for the upgrade. The beds are soft and very comfy. Amenities is complete, the fridge work, the TV works, the AC works and everything was perfect. The bathroom is big but the draining is super slow. Took 40 mins for the bath water to drain completely. Other than that, all okay. Breakfast : The breakfast is simple, fried rice, fried noodle and sausages. Simple yet tasty. I love it so much. Facility : I was told that can only use lift 3,4,5,6 to get to level 19. The 1 and 2 arent reaching there. Thats good. The lift is ancient yet so beautiful. The parking is so small. But that night, a chef from nearby restaurant guided us to the underground parking. You should make a signage about the underground parking because there are literally none. Satisfaction : 9.5 / 10.00. I will stay again for sure. Lovely refurbished.…
Highly Recommended! Service is truly nice, all the staff here are very friendly. Cozy & Comfort environment! The size of room is considered large and the cleanliness is good as well. Also, Jo Hotel offers Best Nyonya food! Must Try!
Most taxi drivers will not know JO Hotel, it is better you tell them the old "Tropical Inn". This building is old but is still under renovation for more improvement like lift and restaurant etc. We have the family's room for 4 pax which is big and clean. The room has a separate sitting area and bedroom with good aircon, tv, fridge, kettle, wifi, comfortable bed and bathroom with all necessities. The only downside is there is no eateries in the area, but not a big problem as you are able to do a short walk to Komtar, City square and Night market. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Overall, a good place to stay if you love shopping area this area.
Hotel was previously known as Tropical Inn Hotel. Few minutes walk to KOMTAR and City square to shop or eat.. but alternatively, we jz get food thru Foodpanda or Grabfood Apps since the hotel do not have any restaurant in the building. Room was clean and met with all the basic requirements. Furniture was quite tired looking but the bed was comfortable. The only thing that I would point out was, the hotel is still undergoing renovation and we were woken up on both saturday and sunday morning with drilling sound. But if you jz need a night sleep, this hotel is truly sufficient. No In-Room dining.. Lobby looks nice. Overall.. with the amount we pay, Will recommend and will come back.
The room we stayed was clean though furniture is old, but it was okay for us. the mini fridge, it is convenient for me cause i love to get cold drinks..i enjoyed the simple breakfast they provide. Overall it was nice and affordable..
Quite old bldg, cracks evywhr in the room and bathroom with ants crawling. Construction nearby and next to road side so could hear noises from speeding bikes at night from level 22. Great view though, can even check out the traffic to/fro Spore-JB. Queen bed room quite spacious but things are a bit rundown incl. bed linens with holes and marks. Air-con only hv 3 options: low, medium, high which unhelpful in adjusting room temperature. Actually slept without air-con as it was chilling enough at level 22. Free wifi inside room with good connection. Stayed for 5days and hse keeping service tip top. You get the usual toiletries and also free drinking water and coffee teas likes. Comes with free breakfast perusing coupons which you need to collect from the counter every day. Breakfast is good with choices of nasi lemak, noodles, porridge, cereals, bread, salads, etc. Location wise within walking distance to JBCC but can turn out to be a tiring walk on hot day and if you hv already been walking whole day. Option to take grabcar ard RM5-6. Overall staff met throughout period of stay were friendly and helpful.…
This hotel is aging, could maybe be looked after a little better but still has its grandeur about it. I rate based on what i paid for and expected to get from the hotels advertising. And it met those expectations in all except one respect. It states "free internet". It is actually free but virtually unusable. The staff are lovely and very helpful (except with the internet). The rooms are nicely priced for what they are and the hotel is in a great location, if you are incoming from Singapore.
