Firstly, I have to mention that I slept in 3 of their rooms in total. Secondly, I booked their rooms under a package deal that was offered at their hotel, and not online (880 for 10 days and something else for 5 days or something). I utilise those 2 deals for the Sakura room consecutively. Finally, I was there for an urgent home visit, so I am mostly not in the hotel or did not want to complain much while I was there.
Room: relatively tidy at first glance. First room had some rust marks where the towels were kept, while the second room’s air con and toilet door were broken. I changed from the first room because the toilet got stuck and overflowed in the middle of the night, when there was no maintenance or cleaners. They were also happy to accomodate a second change when I pointed out the broken things in the second room
Walls weren’t very clean, and the cleaners seem to cut corners in their cleaning (my hair sheds regularly, and while some parts of the floor were clearly swept, the toilet had some hair, the drain always had hair, etc). They can be prompt in taking trash out but I don’t really like to ask them to come and re clean the room after a long stressful day.
This particular room has no windows, so can’t really say anything else. Also, at this budget price, no fridge.
Customer service: staffs were very helpful and friendly at any time of the day. Also, staffs can speak English, which is super helpful.
Location: if you have never been to Malaysia before or have never been to Johor before, I will just say that public transport isn’t the easiest in most parts of Malaysia. That said, download grab app, and it works great. Koho’s relatively central location means it’s just a few ringgit to most destinations, so great choice there. However, even though it’s central and next to a high way and a supper place, it’s relatively quiet in my room all the time.
For the price, can’t really complain. Obviously, with all the issues, I can’t give it 5 stars but I will return again.
Took the standard room. Came with free sahur for two.
Rooms does not come with a fridge. They dont provide toothbrush or whatever else that hotels usually provide. But theres a 7-eleven downstairs and you can get your stuffs there.
Id say, for a budget hotel. They're really not bad. I would definitely come by and stay again.
Rooms and bathrooms were absolutely clean and tidy. A bit disappointing is the state of the deluxe-rooms. These are the only ones with a refridgerator, but… these are not refridgerators but wine-chillers(!). They only go down to a temperature of about 5 centigrades. And… they are wrongly wired. They switch off with the rest of all electricity when you pull out the key-card from the main-switch. So, when you come ‘home’ after a long day out, expect a warm box with warm drinks in it.
All cleanliness aside, house-keeping break their own rules on a daily basis (“Towels on the floor, exchange – towels on the rack, continue to use them”). Every day I put my towels on the rack, every day, I got a new one. Shampoo, shower-gel and soap are replaced every day. Inexcusable: they also removed MY OWN shampoo and soap on the second day.
It seems, there is an enormous savings opportunity for the management, if they really scrutinize how house-keeping works.
For convenience, there is a seven-eleven right next door. The attitude of their staff is another story altogether.
No restaurants in the neighbourhood except a kind of Malay breakfast-café and a 24-hr mamak-shop (E&Y), 5 mins walk away. But hey, it is JB, plenty of other food to enjoy, if you have a car. Free parking within the compound with guards 24 hrs patrolling for safety.
On 2nd day, after returning to Koho from business work, card key couldn't open the door again, despite numerous repeated attempts to reprogram it.
As Enk Wan Norazlan, the Resident Manager was out of hotel somewhere in Larkin town, we had to wait nearly an hour for him to return to open the door as he is the only person with the Master Key. We were tired and fuming mad having to wait and have missed planned engagement due to the hour delay.
After about an hour, in stroll Enk Wan Norazlan, passing by everyone, including us, who were waiting at the Reception counter without any word or apology.
I was given a room replacement but still had to wait at least a quarter of an hour before transferring luggage and settling in.
Up to the next morning when I checked out, and seeing this Resident Manager at the Front Desk, not a word of apology was uttered by him. And this Enk Wan Norazlan’s face was solemn and expressionless. No smiles. And I wonder how someone with such a terrible attitude like him can get hired in the hospitality industry.
Question is, how could a hotel Resident Manager behave so indifferently and how could the management allow the only person with the hotel’s Master Key to leave the hotel without any back-up key? What if there was a real life or death emergency and room doors can’t be opened? Who would be responsible?
This was a repeat stay from my last visit. But I rest be assured will be my last. Very disappointing experience and stay as my mood was spoiled by such display of arrogance.
So if anyone is looking for a restful time in a nice hotel, I strongly discourage going to this Koho Hotel.
I book 1 double bedroom with additional charges, just for me to get the double bed and enjoy the rest of my day with my love one. But the staff of this hotel, without telling me anything, process my check in to a 2 single bedroom. I straight away call the operator and front desk. I think the phone was busy for 20 minute and after that manage to talk to the person that check me in. What she reply me, we already fully book and I don't know why you still can book with agoda. She keep blaming agoda because the apps allow me to book. Then I told her that when I first enter their lobby, I heard one of the staff talk to someone higher rank about this agoda booking because one of them wrongly reopen the booking in agoda but actualy their room been fully book before I make the booking.
What I suspected is, they just realize about this booking is after I made my booking and I was nearby. So after I complete my booking online then straight proceed with check in 5 minute after that. When I was in my wrong room, i recheck at agoda that all the room for this hotel been remove. Its clearly show that agoda do not simply open this room without this hotel autority. So its no point for me to argue with agoda to give back my money or anything. She ask me to cancel my booking with agoda and get the refund. Obviusly there is no such thing because like I said its not agoda fault I can book their room and neither is mine.
I ask her to contact agoda about this matter and she had to cancel my booking then it is possible for me to get back my refund. If I'm the one who cancel, sure I will not get anything. The hotel staff refuse to cancel my bookig and keep asking me to cancel with agoda.
I ask for other solution and what other offer you can give me. She said all the room are full and she wanted to get advise from her manager. After few moment later, she call me back and give me the solution to combine both bed into one and would like to arrange their staff to do it. I replied no thanks if that's the only solution she can offer me. I can do it my self and for me its not a good solution for your customer. I don't mind if you do not have the room I booked, normally the hotel will upgrade for me. But I understand its full. So what I think is she could call agoda for me and cancel my booking as its the hotel fault reopen the slot for me. It will not change the bed size, but it will effect the customer feeling that you can do something to pleased your customer. I do not say that I can't stay in single bedroom. I have pay for that room and just to make sure I get what I paid for.
For night shift staff, really appriciated his help and advise about the parking space and where to get good breakfast. Thanks to his advise and its help us alot.
Clean room, strong Wi-fi, and all the furniture are new.
Near to city center and shopping mall, very convenience location.
Relaxing and a good hotel to stay at. ;)
The hotel location in the town but not the central town center. So you need to take taxi to arrive bus station or shopping complex.
Although saying the hotel is budget hotel, but the size of the building and the decoration of the lobby is more than budget hotel category.
When I check in, the staff are extremely friendly and the process is fast, it done within 10 minutes then give me the key card access to room.
The room itself is good in size, air conditioned, clean. There is TV on the wall with satellite TV channel and 2 bottle of complimentary deinking water per day.
The bathroom is clean also, water pressure is not strong but sure can get a good hot shower, They provide 2 bath towel, shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom, also attached a very powerful hair dryer.
The room rate is including a breakfast which I have missed due to the starting time from 730am to 10am. I heard from my colleague said the breakfast voucher can get 1 hot meal, then unlimited supply of white bread and butter jam.
Hotel help me to call a meter tax when I check out, the taxi fare to Larkin bus station from hotel is about RM12,00.
Relatively new and it's clean and neat. Reasonable for its price tag when compared to other hotels. Was also given 'corporate rate' status after the first long stay, will certainly recommend visiting friends to stay here again if it's just for a comfortable and clean bed for the night.
1. Central location; easy access to Jalan Tebrau
2. 7-11 Convenience store downstairs
3. Clean rooms
4. Big restroom; stayed in a family room
To improve:
1. Breakfast pricing and offerings; mediocre not worth it
2. More TV channels
