New & chic boutique hotel, located conveniently at Alor Setar’s “chinatown”. Many modern cafes & local eateries nearby, and short walk or drive to typical landmarks & town centre. Friendly & helpful staff, premise is clean & they even have 2 reserved parking lots for residents on first-come-first-served basis which is crucial in this area. The only flip side is amid the modern minimalistic & industrial design, there’s probably a lack of consideration on practicality. This is especially with the bathroom’s open concept design which means, beyond privacy, any sound (especially from the metal sink top) and, worse, scent instantly gets to the bedroom. Maybe suitable for solo travelers or intimate couples, but probably less so for friends and family with more traditional mindset.

We booked this hotel as we have an early ferry trip to Kuala Perlis Jetty to catch the next morning. We booked 2 rooms including one with a balcony. The rooms were very clean with high quality linens, basic amenities and Young Living diffuser. One room had bottled plain water, the other one didn't have. But this is not an issue since they offer free local snacks and drinks from their fridge at the lobby. The toilets (including the one at the lobby) were super clean. There is no bathroom door, only curtain so if privacy is an issue you might want to book a separate room. The hotel has reserved parking spots in front of the hotel. Breakfast was basic, they offerred delicious nasi lemak, toasts and cereals. The issue here is that there is only one table with 3 chairs and one bench to accommodate all guests. During our stay the family who was sitting there took their own sweet time chatting after they were done, and ignoring the fact that other people were standing up waiting for them to leave. Some people can be inconsiderate urghhh. The hotel might want to reconsider the lobby cum dining space arrangement. I accidentally left my camera and the staff called me up to inform me and they kept the camera until I could come to collect it later. Major point there. Thank you👍🏻

Is a new boutique hotel in Pekan Cina where how’s the name come from. We booked 3 different rooms during our trip to Kedah. My family has taken the family suite (3821) at the higher floor which is the biggest room they have. Room are spacious, modern, clean and that’s a 🛁 inside the room too 😍love it! They do provide high quality towels and toilets utensils. Plus, that’s a small pool at the roof top which is superb. Location is good but they only have one reserved parking, if the parking has taken, then you have to looks for others parking at your own risk. The hotel also provide free flow of cans drink, local snacks, espresso coffee at the reception area which is a credit. The local famous cafe, Caffe Diem was just few steps from the hotel. We really enjoy our stay in 38PC. Thanks to the host Mr Loo, he’s is very polite and responsive 👍.

Uniquely renovated shophouse in the lovely China Town area of Alor Setar. Only 5 rooms so it’s reasonably quiet. Liza the host was very helpful. Nice to be able to refill our water bottles or use glass bottles to avoid single use plastics. Nice local breakfast of Nasi Lemak and half boiled eggs with Nespresso coffees provided. Highly recommended option in this interesting place which is worth a day or two.

We stayed for 3 nights and absolutely liked this boutique hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The cool design is urban vintage style, rare for the region. Our room was very quiet, clean and with all needs. We also liked the view from the rooftop with a cute infinity pool. We appreciated the complimentary Nespresso coffee, soft drinks and snacks at the reception.

Such a gem of a place in Alor Star town ! The hotel is unique and well equipt. We stayed at the ground floor room at the back and had the best sleep in the whole hectic week of work. The room was comfortable and I particularly loved the bed and its bedding. The gentle cascading water flow just outside the room from a clever water walkway design was reassuring and lulled us to sleep; oblivion to any other sounds, if any. Liza was especially a cheerful staff that made us feel at home. Her nasi lemak was yummy. The pool was a bliss in the evening and much appreciated in this sweltering heat wave. Definitely will highly recommend it to families and friends.

We stayed for one night, and would have stayed longer but it was fully booked. The hotel is extremely modern, but with all of the original building preserved. Our room was lovely with a large, efficient bathroom and extremely high ceiling. The receptionist could not have been more helpful and took us for a little walk around the nearby streets pointing out and recommending places for us to eat, drink, shop etc. There was free coffee, water and snacks available all day and breakfast. The pool is more of a plunge than a swim, but it is on the rooftop with good views of the town. By the way, everyone we met in the town was very friendly and welcoming to us and we really enjoyed our stay in Alor Setar.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was here with a friend on the 6th and 7th of December. A very lovely place. It is very close to the city centre- about 5 minutes walk. The staff Liza and Sue are wonderful. Very helpful and polite. I chatted with them and they provided great information on how to get around Alor Setar. I was here on a research and field trip. Liza personally showed us how to find a hidden an old abandoned Istana. A small hotel but the service is very personalised. Great for a family or small group of friends. I recommend the rooms in the middle of the hotel because the front and back are exposed to music from a night club nearby at night. A chic place to stay in the heart of Alor Setar. Keep up the good work Liza and Sue!

Its the first boutique hotel in Alor Setar. It is located in Pekan Cina Alor Setar. Just near by to Cafe Diem and Terrace 48. The place is quit private because it only have 5 rooms. Breakfast is included, snacks and drinks are free flow. Awesome place to stay with affordable price. it also has a pool at the rooftop.
