I stayed 1 night at this hotel for a business trip. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but unfortunately it doesn’t meet the expectations. From outside the hotel looks grand! But inside, it is in bad shape! Even the ceiling at the main lobby is leaking and cracked. The swimming pool, spa and gym are also not operational. The display screen in the elevators didn’t work too. So, you wouldn’t know which floor you’re at until the elevator’s door open! For some strange reasons, the coffee house and the lobby lounge closed very early. By 9pm the lobby area is dark already except for the reception area. I stayed in the deluxe room which is very spacious. Somehow, one of the pillows has no pillow cover. All television channels didn’t work too, apparently there’s a nationwide problem with the cable network provider. Then I realised the mini refrigerator didn’t work too! 😅😅. I have some milk-based drink that need to be refrigerated. The maintenance team had to replace the refrigerator with another one. And ohh.. the hot water is not hot at all! Last but not least, the buffet breakfast.. it’s really nothing much. Not worth it if you have to pay extra for it. Might as well go to the nearby restaurants for much nicer breakfast. The good thing about this hotel is its location. Just across the street is Lotus (fka Tesco) which has many shops and eateries. The hotel is also surrounded by many food stalls selling street foods especially in the evening. But please remember to ask for disposable spoon/fork from the streetfood vendors because there’s none in the hotel room. Not even teaspoon although coffee mix and tea bags are provided. I hate to sound so negative about this hotel but it is what it is. This hotel has good potential but need to get their act together quickly before its reputation get worsen.

Tonight is our second night staying in this hotel and i dont think this hotel deserves to get 5-star hotel. Even this is our second visit since the first one was in 2018. Reached the hotel at 10.30pm yesterday and none of doorman available to get our luggages. We need to do it all by ourselves with a 2-year old kid. Checked in went smooth and entertained by Naeim. He was so kind and helpful. However, i requested a babycot but we didnt receive any. Luckily, their king bed can occupied two adults and 2 little kids. The room is not clean at all. I found many stains at the bedsheet. I dont think they changed. The shower holder is broken. Need to pull the holder so that can have the heavy shower. Other facilities are also not available. The pool is closed because they couldn’t maintained well. Can see algae in the pool from our room at level 8. The most frustration was the operation hours of Lengkuas restaurant is not fixed. Called the hotel to check their operation hours of the restaurant and the receptionist said it was 5pm. Then, we set time with our friends to come over to the restaurant at 4pm today. But when they arrived, the restaurant was closed. It was so shameful. And this would be our last visit to this hotel. I bet there are so many best hotels around Alor Setar out there can give good services.

This hotel is not ready for operations yet after the pandemic lockdowns. The swimming pool is not open, the gym is closed, all restaurants with the exception of the lobby area restaurant are closed. Even this single restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, closing at 5.30pm. No room service available after. The lifts are not in 100% working order. The LCD monitor indicating floor are out of order. So you have to peek out to look at the floor numbers on the wall outside. And the lifts are card swipe enabled, but these work 70% of the time. You'll be swiping like a crazy man to get up to your room. The room is big. Too big. With a lot of wasted empty space. Could have placed a sofa or armchairs for guests. Even the bathroom is too big with a lot of wasted space. In room amenities, are also lacking. The tissue box was empty. When we called to get it replenished, they sent us a small pack of facial tissue. There were no toothbrushes provided. We didn't ask for any, but we found them placed in the bathroom on the eve of our check out. In summary, I'd stay at this hotel again in the near future but not at the premium rates we paid.

Disappointment is too mild a word to describe my experience during my recent stay at the hotel. Very poor upkeep of the room, the ceiling in the bathroom leaks, the shower drain was badly clogged, fridge, safe, and telephone wasn’t working. Had to be replaced. Even the replacement telephone wasn’t working due to internal wiring problem. When we approached the reception area, we were informed that whole of the 10th floor has been having telephone wiring problem. Now, if that is so then why the hotel still place the guests on the 10th Floor despite knowing the said telephone wiring problem all along. The room is dusty, inner carpet areas under the side table wasn’t vacuumed, the window pane was not wiped at all and thick layer of dust can be seen at the bottom of the toilet door. The swimming pool was full of algae and the gym was extremely dusty. The Management know that the guests will checking in on certain date based on reservation made and yet no efforts have been made by their end to ensure that the room is properly cleaned. To me, that is totally unacceptable. It is the most disgusting hotel room I’ve ever come across. Despite the low occupancy, yet the housekeeping department failed to do their job to maintain and keep the room cleaned. Definitely my first and last time. To categorize the hotel as a “5-star” hotel is clearly a misrepresentation.
