when arriving, the front desk staff quit friendly but should learn more about customer service. He should learn which task to prioritize, to entertain the customer in front of him or to answering a lot of phone call or to give an instruction to his buddy. Oh i forget to mention, he just the only person sit at that desk. I think i should forgive him coz my check time processing time is just not more than 15 minutes. My bad coz i book this hotel via agoda.com so this gentlemen issue me two separate bills, one for my room and one for breakfast for tomorrow. Off course with two time credit card swiped. Luckily the bank doesn't count how many you swipe your card monthly so no extra charge for that (hahaha). The room is quit spacious but the interior if was not that good. Closet

Hotel has long been in existence and need refurbishment in rooms and restaurant. It gives the impression it is an old hotel by the look from the outside. It is a budget hotel but could have been better if the right things are in place or else hotel would run down and it will lose more customers. It is a pity....hotel with good location, car park and individual block by itself but badly maintained. It is no use just keep it as it is. At the most, many guest would stay for 1 night, after that, they would check out to other hotels due to so much defects, problems and unpleasantness. Staff are cool & at their level best to maintain their posture when bombarded by complaints and grievances which really is not their fault.

The rooms were spacious and the floors were stripped of their carpeting. It was also clean. However, this hotel is really old and it shows. Air conditioning vibrated with such noise, we had to lower the intensity (which are only 3 levels). The toilet had very weak flushing power (yikes!) Curtains were dusty and allowed sunlight to penetrate via gaps. We were so worried the shower fixtures would fall off! If you are just staying one night and looking for a cheap, clean hotel, this is the place. Also a plus; Ong Nasi Lemak is just across the street.

The room was spacious, big.. Far bigger than loads of 3 stars hotels i've been to. Spacious bathroom with bath tub. Affordable price as RM100 / night via Booking.com. However, the air cond. was barely cool. It was quite hot sleeping with comfortable bed, thick blanket but slow air cond.

Response from HotelGC, General Manager at Hotel Grand Crystal Kedah

Thank you for your compliments on our staff friendliness. Its has certainly boost their confidence to continue delivering their best service. Your observation regarding the comfortable bed with spacious bathrooms, bathtub and room size to be "far bigger than load of 3 stars" is indeed precise. We are glad we could provide you with the comfort that exceed your expectation for similar priced hotels in Alor Star. We however apologized for the "barely cool and slow air condition". The situation had been rectified. The caused of the a/c was identified however due to the delayed delivery of several cooling components for the air conditioning unit, our Hotel encountered this "warming situation" . Coupled with the warm weather during that period, it had made the matter unpleasant. We thank you for your visit and look forward to serving you again

Old, outdated and unpleasant were how I describe this hotel. It never came into my mind that I will end up at this kind of hotel especially in Malaysia but it happens. I've stayed for 3 days 2 night at deluxe room. Staffs were warm though. The facilities looks old and outdated at every corner. The room was big but has the unpleasant smell, perhaps due to the old carpeted floor. The furniture were dilapidated and amenities look and feel cheap except for the LCD TV. Do not expect much for the breakfast. Overall, it was a bad choice and unfortunately an awful experience for me. There were many new hotels nearby and it's not worth to spend your money here.
