We had a wonderful stay of 5 nights in the black and White House over Chinese New Year. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome. We were traveling with our 2 young daughters and had booked an early flight, meaning we got to the resort in the morning a lot earlier than our check-in time. We were given complimentary drinks on our arrival and offered a small room where we could change/rest whilst we waited for our house to become available. We were so grateful for this as it meant we could change and use the pool, which kept our daughters happy. We were also able to order pancakes from the breakfast menu, mid/late morning, which were delicious and kept us going until we were able to transfer into our room, shortly after.

The house was a really great size for a family of 4, tastefully decorated and equipped with several types of tea and fresh coffee. Each evening staff closed the shutters and set the Mosi machines going for us, which was very helpful. In the morning breakfast is now served in the main reception building, a lovely relaxed terrace to sit out on and enjoy the delicious fresh bread, fruits, yoghurt, cereal, or you can order eggs, Nasi Lemak, pancakes or a full cooked breakfast from the a la carte menu.

We had problems one night with our electricity cutting out and staff were really helpful and the owners offered a complimentary meal for us at their restaurant’The Fat Frog’ the following day. This was a lovely memorable meal, delicious western food in a beautiful setting looking over the golf course. We would recommend both the accommodation at Temple Tree and the restaurant. We had a wonderful stay, staff at the hotel were so attentive, bringing complimentary iced water and ice cream to us at the poolside. Besides this the place is being lovingly improved, we saw some the second pool area be re-lawned and planted out during our stay, it will be even more beautiful once the gardens have established themselves in a few months time.

The Temple Tree is a collection of Malaysian heritage buildings that have been lovingly restored and placed around a newly landscaped garden. The pool is beautiful and perfect for sunset drinks.

The bedrooms are well appointed and the beds are super comfortable. We stayed in one of the Estate rooms. Completely deceiving from the outside. From the garden they just look like a row of wooden terrace houses but on the inside you’ll find spacious rooms with vaulted ceilings and four poster beds. I loved all the vintage furniture and decorations.

The food is good and reasonably priced so even if you’re not staying at the resort pop in for lunch. I highly recommend the beef randang burger. Delicious!

The staff are super helpful and friendly.

A total Langkawi gem.

We stayed in the Johor house which was over 100 years old and as such extremely rustic. It had a lovely veranda to sit on and read or just chill. The bedrooms had excellent air con and the bathroom included a large shower and a wooden bathtub. There was a basket providing lots of mosquito kit including 2 plug ins with refil blocks and a giant spray and the one bed had a mosquito net you could pull down with a large fab directly above the bed. We used the pool daily which was good for a cool down and the pool beds were very good quality. The food on site was very good and we ate in the bar 3 of our 4 nights. The bar man was the most lovely guy and mixed great drinks. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is large scale building work just getting started beyond the property to the beach area so there is digger noise from 8/9. Only 10mins to or from
The airport and parking available. Lots of people on the island use mopeds and they are available to hire.

Temple Tree just gets better and better! The resort is looking fantastic, the bar and restaurant at Ipoh House are now finished and they make a great place to hangout after a day at the beach or exploring the island.

The rooms at Temple Tree are a great size and each has its own unique character. This last visit we stayed upstairs in Colonial and we had our own private balcony. It was perfect. The beds are super comfortable with lovely linen and ours had a mosquito net as well. Nice sized bathroom with a wooden tub, which looked so cool, and a walk in shower. I loved the vintage tiles everywhere.

Breakfast is à la carte with the option of nasi lemak on the weekend. I tried the barramundi one night for dinner and it was delicious, definitely worth trying.

I think the resort is such great value for money and it’s perfect for anyone wanting to get out of KL for a cheeky weekend away.

Lovely property, nostalgic with restored kampung homes but with modern facilities... rain showers, bathtubs, four-poster beds and what not! To be welcomed with a glass of Prosecco is a welcome indeed. The staff were excellent and the stay was fabulous. It may not look like a 5 or 6 star resort but the service is one to be commended. Breakfast fare, although simple was delicious with some home-cooking! Location was quite close to the airport and also to the famous Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah. We stayed in the Colonial House which was setup in a very colonial way donning lovely antique furnitures that welcome you as you enter the house. The pool was a simple lap pool with enough sun decks for one who fancied a tan. All in all a lovely stay and highly commended especially when they graciously put up with us rugby lot! Ample parking if you are driving! And a lovely little bar to satiate your thirsty buds! Will definitely recommend and come back!

Temple Tree Resort has a fantastic atmosphere that offers instant relaxation. The buildings have been beautifully restored and provide a cultural experience with comfort. The setting is stunning and the location gives easy access to a wide range of activities that will entertain all ages. The menu is varied, everything that we have tried has been delicious. The staff are outstanding: polite, helpful and efficient. Our stay was excellent value for money, we will be back.

A beautiful place with excellent service in a great location, a rare find on Pantai Cenang. Well done to all involved in Temple Tree Resort.

We were here for 5 nights for a family holiday and stayed in Plantation 5. (Plantation 5 and 6 don't have any other units above them and are separate to the rest of the plantation house so doesn't get much noise fr neighbours). It's great value for money when compared to traditional hotels given how much space you get- we had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living area. The grounds are very well maintained. Pool was clean and big, given its a smaller boutique resort, the pool never has more than 5 pple at a time in it. Restaurant served a great breakfast spread and food for lunch/dinner was also delicious. The staff are ever so obliging- they booked tours for us, booked airport transfers, even organised a delivered breakfast the night before as we had an early morning flight to catch. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
Whilst it isn't beachfront, it is only a RM6, 10min grab drive to Cenang main street/beach where there are plentiful supply of restaurants.
The downsides were the heritage houses have holes at the top of the walls for ventilation- also let's noise and light in, could be solved easily by adding some curtains on the bedroom side. There's a mosque closeby but nothing earplugs can't fix.
Overall, the relaxing time we had, how well fed we were, the comfy beds and friendly service far outweighed the minor downsides. We would love to stay again (in a different house for a diff experience) if we visited Langkawi again!

Where to start?!? The communication before we arrived was timely and helpful, when we arrived we were greeted with a cold glass of prosecco and then we were taken to our (upgraded) room (that was ready when we arrived - 3 hours before the official check-in time)!

The room was beautiful: authentic with lovely decoration, the beds were super-comfy, the bathroom was gorgeous (the shower was amazing) and the view was out of this world!

The swimming pool is very narrow but the perfect place to relax and there were always shady sun beds available. They even bring ice cold water to you whilst you're in your holiday slumber!

And the breakfast...wow! Not excessive but everything you could ever want!

Sitting in Johor, I'm wondering if I can make it back for a cheeky weekend, just to recharge! What a place!

Thank you for the most wonderful stay and the best way to start 2022!

We stayed for five nights in the colonial house which was ideal for our trip. The food is good which a great range of local and some western foods and the cocktail maker made some of the best drinks we’ve had! The pool is almost 25m and the surrounding grounds nice to walk around. Location is about 20 mins walk to the closest beach pantai Cenang but you can get a very cheap Grab car if you wish. We would stay there again.

What’s not too like about the place? Well… let’s start by the few negatives… it is not on the beach so if you are looking for a beach resort look elsewhere, rooms can be a bit noisy as they are original wooden houses and finally there are a few mozzies.
Otherwise, what a gem! What a great find! On one hand you would like to keep it a secret so that it is easy to come back without risking to have the place overbooked all the time but on the other hand the place is so fabulous that you want to recommend it to everyone!
Such a serene environment (the airport is not far so you may see and hear a few planes but it’s definitely not a nuisance), rooms are well appointed, the place is romantic, the restaurant is so enjoyable - both the food and environment, the staff is so attentive. Everything is well thought and despite the fact these are all ancient and traditional houses it still manages to feel modern and comfortable.
I love the pool area - which has never been overcrowded during my stay. It’s a 25m lap pool so it’s enough to exercise.
Added bonuses? It’s very photogenic for your social media feed! Ah ah!
Other information of interest? There are a few other restaurants of interest around. And if you are tricky enough, you can reach Cenang beach in less than 15 minutes walk.
Finally, the highlight for me is the way the place makes you feel like you are really in Malaysia and not somewhere else!
Highly highly recommended!
