The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa comes highly recommended for its pristine cleanliness and sumptuous amenities that include a variety of pools, a spa, and leisure activities, all contributing to a luxurious and relaxing stay. While the service is generally applauded for being attentive and professional, some guests have encountered moments that didn't meet their expectations.
The rooms, celebrated for their spaciousness and vistas, occasionally receive criticism regarding their upkeep and dated style. The hotel's location garners praise for its tranquil beachfront beauty, though opinions on value for money and the atmosphere in dining areas are mixed.

Detailed Reviews
It’s somewhat of a mixed review so the 4/5 was a carefully considered score. We’d chosen the hotel as the location to celebrate my 50th birthday. We’d had some contact with the hotel prior to our arrival about the possibility of an upgrade to a pool villa. Regrettably, they tried to charge us more for the upgrade than a complete new booking if we’d booked on hotels.com which I thought strange. In the event we upgraded to an ocean view room when we arrived and it was certainly worth the extra. The room they showed us that we’d booked (superior garden view) looked on to the brick wall that supported the driveway up to the lobby.
The room was spacious, very comfy bed, great aircon, spacious bathroom with a good shower and large bath (not sure how many people would use a bath but hey!). The room had a large wardrobe, plenty of storage and a safe. I did the room was overall in a tatty state; paintwork was bashed in places, floor badly scratched, wardrobe doors didn’t shut properly, bathroom drawers opened by themselves but nothing that was detracting to our stay. Housekeeping was ok but again was let down by attention to detail such as balcony not swept during our stay, bedroom floor not mopped, hairs left in the bathroom.
We were on a B&B basis I so we breakfast for the 7 days we were there which was plentiful and a diverse range of foods, albeit the same most days. Breakfast staff were efficient although some of the chefs looked positively miserable! We ate one night in the buffet restaurant and once in Tides restaurant. The food was ok but pricey.
There’s not a huge amount around the hotel as alternatives to eat. Fisherman’s Wharf is a 10/15 min walk with some fairly low grade and basic eateries. Captain Eva’s Pool Bar is the only one I’d recommend; great food at a great price, lovely atmosphere and vibe and popular with holidaymakers, sailors from the yacht club and the local expat community. So the Westin kind of have you captive unless you have transport or what to take a taxi out of the resort.
The swimming pool and pool area is lovely! Huge pool which was never busy, sun beds, towels and pool bar which served snacks and drinks, again at a fairly steep price. There is a duty free supermarket (Billion) which we bought gin and tonic from for the room about 25min walk from hotel.
On check out, we were given a voucher to use at the small but perfectly formed lounge at Langkawi airport which was a very welcome touch.
Overall it was an enjoyable stay at the Westin but I found it lacking in character and a lot of the staff looked bored and uninterested. If I returned to Langkawi again I’d probably prefer to look at other options.

We stayed here for 5 nights before going elsewhere in Langkawi for 5 nights.
The views at the pool are fantastic and the size makes it great for swimming in. The beach also has great views but is difficult for walking on. I did get stung by a jelly fish tail whilst swimming in the sea. One of the beach boys helped me with this and gave me vinegar to put on this. The walk to the St Regis is nice and relaxing along the path in the grounds with more great views.
The breakfast is nice but not outstanding. The pastries which were put out looked lovely but as they had been under a hot light to keep them warm, they were no longer soft but actually crispy and not enjoyable. The fruit selection was good but there was not a massive selection of hot food.
The room was spacious with a nice bathroom and really strong shower. We booked a partial sea view room, which was upgraded, but yet this still only appeared to be a partial sea view room as this was on the ground floor.
You get 4 bottles of water in the room each day, but these were not replenished unless requested. There is no water provided by the pool so 4 bottles is not enough. I would expect a hotel of this standard to provide free flow water by the pool.
There is also a good gym and tennis courts. We played tennis and the monkeys came to watch.
We had our first night’s meal in the hotel restaurant by the pool and whilst it was nice, it was expensive. We therefore went out of the resort for the remaining evenings and tried Wonderland restaurant a couple of times for a tasty Chinese meal.
A good tip is to download the grab app as the taxi rides with them are half price and probably cleaner and more modern than normal taxis.
The cocktails at breeze were reasonably priced and very tasty and the band was excellent. All the hotel staff were friendly.
We would recommend this hotel.

Great place, newly refurbished rooms, breakfast buffet was served at the restaurant in full compliance of our current pandemic situation...behind clear partitions, served personally by staffs.. 3 different type of pools to cater to everyone's need, plenty of chaise lounge chair around pool and beach area.
Staffs are well trained and friendly... and that is the ultimate treasure in this industry.

We spend two nights to celebrate the birthday of my sister in law.
For a Westin to earn its name I believe more is needed than just a nice room
Although i was disappointed as I paid for partial sea view But had just a garden view and partial pool view , smart wording though ‚partial sea view ‚ as you might get an idea of the sea of you lean out and stand on a chair 😂
Also my family who stayed in other rooms all had fruits and cakes in their rooms which we never received besides the fact the booking was done the same time under the same occasion ; why ?
Food: breakfast was disappointing compared to other 5* hotels , I think you need to work on your presentation and cooking skills
Just for instance the cheeses, cold cuts and fruit buffet please add individual serving cutlery. There was one fork for all fruits and one spoon for all types of cheeses incl. soft and blue cheeses
Your eggs Benedict I suggest you to make them fresh when ordered and not keep them under the heat which dries out the bagel hardens the egg and Hollandaise
The bread selection is good, the croissants are like straw though
Nevertheless The staff were doing a good job in serving coffees, cooking egg dishes and clearing our empty plates. Sadly overall breakfast food 3.5 *not 5
Poolside : the staff were very good and always looking after our needs. We got cold towels at the end of the day what one expects for 5*.
Lobby lounge bar; not very comfortable unless you want to take off your shoes put up your feet and lean back ; The sofas are like oversize in depth and if you want to get to your drink you need to leap forward to reach the table . So not practical at all
The band was excellent , we enjoyed that part of the eve very much but next to the lobby was my niece with her baby and obviously the loud music was not comforting for the baby .
From my experience travelling all over the world my overall rating is Max 4*, and for sure Not worth the rate we paid.
It’s a pitty ; The hotel as such is very lovely in a beautiful setting but.....that’s just as it it
To end this review I contacted bonvoy / Weston direct with just getting the reply that’s just how it is. If I pay the same rate as others I expect my room at least to be the same in every aspect

Husband and I stayed for 3 nights. First impression was good, we arranged for an airport transfer and was warmly greeted at the airport.
Upon reaching the hotel, we were warmly greeted as well. However...I’m a little bit particular when it comes to cleanliness so when we walked into our room and I found hair on the furniture and floor that wasn’t mine or my husband’s it was a bit of a put iff. Upon closer inspection I noticed that furniture was pretty dusty and the white sofa was stained. A complimentary roll of lavender oil was given which is a nice touch, however I’m pretty sure it’s been used, as the one we’ve been given is almost empty and unsealed. Also there were mosquitoes buzzing around as I slept which can be a bit unnerving. Loud music from the lounge bar can be heard if you like to go to bed early like me. On the plus side, the room is spacious and the bed is very comfortable. We decided to pay more for an ocean view room and it’s definitely worth the extra money as the view is spectacular.
Private beach is a plus, but the best deck chairs (sheltered and on the beach) gets taken up by other guests very quickly, so best to be early. We were lucky that on our second day there we managed to get the deck chairs- it’s great that we were able to get food/drinks from there too. That was one of the highlights of the trip, made for a lovely relaxing morning/day reading by the beach.
Food was decent but not amazing (my favourite dish during our stay was weirdly room service’s chicken tenders and salmon with Soba noodles from the kids menu...go figure. Room service is comes to you much quicker than eating at the restaurants itself). I personally think the food is a bit overpriced for what it is but acceptable. Service wasn’t amazing (slow and most of the staff ignored us the whole time) but when we did bring up issues to staff (twice) regarding my prawn allergy at Seasonal Taste and slow service at Breeze (we gave up on waiting and wanted to cancel our order), the staff that tended to us were apologetic and nice which I appreciated.
Overall I had a good holiday but there are definitely things that can be improved as well.

Great views and very helpful staff. I recommend the beach view rooms, we upgraded and the views are worth the extra money. I wouldn’t have a problem staying again. Although a few reasons why I don’t give this an overall 5.
My wife had a complaint about cleanliness as apparently she found a couple of hairs in the room, and there was a stain on the sofa. It didn’t bother me, but those more particular about it may not be happy.
I won’t go in to the heavy criticism I have specifically of Breeze bar (you can read it on a separate review under that bar) but overall service is quite slow, but very polite and helpful. So a 30 min wait for a drink is quite normal at either Breeze or the pool / beach side bar.
The other criticism I would have is overall cost of food. I don’t have a problem paying the same prices as a decent High Street restaurant in Singapore or London - after all I spend that on a normal day back home as standard. But would expect the food to be worthy of that price in Langkawi which often, while an acceptable meal, wasn’t worth the price we paid for it.
But overall a great place to spend a few days with the spouse and / or kids

My wife and I were very much looking forward to staying here having heard of the fantastic facilities and private beach, however were heavily let down with the hygiene of the very basic rooms(3 star standard) and general service.
We stayed in the partial ocean view room. The view was very nice from the balcony but we quickly learned that the room had not been cleaned properly, especially in the toilet area where there were stains of urine found on the floor from previous guests which really smelt bad. We also found pubic hair on the bed. The tv boasts an advert where cleaning standards have improved during the pandemic but we saw no evidence of this in reality.
Overall, the rooms are rather basic for the amount of money you have to spend. The hallways leading to the rooms feel they were designed in the 1970s. They are dark, narrow and have the smell of other guest’s food room service. You are also forced to push open several doors to get through these hallways which during current times feels unhygienic.
Breakfast was very average for the amount of money spent which is in addition to the room charges. Bread items were stale. Service was poor. Lots of staff standing around looking out the windows being unattentive or taking away plates without replacing the cutlery so we constantly needed to ask for more sets if we wanted anything else.
On the plus side, the beach is amazing and the swimming pools are great. However perhaps the problem is that people will come here anyway so the service has diminished over time.
5 star location, 2 star service, hygiene and experience. There are better hotels on the island.

On the plus side, the beach is amazing and the swimming pools are great. However perhaps the problem is that people will come here anyway so the service has diminished over time.
5 star location, 2 star service, hygiene and experience. There are better hotels on the island.

First of all not only is the hotel in the most amazing location you could wish for but the staff make sure your holiday is 100%.. We stayed here in December 2017 and I can only say the hotel remains to the excellent standard it did then as it does today. All the staff are amazing and I mean ALL the staff from cleaning to front of house. The bedroom we had was overlooking the garden and the ocean and immaculately clean. The beds are to die for and huge, so plenty of space! The grounds are kept to a high standard and nothing is ever too much. We were only there for B&B as we love to sample the food outside as well as the hotel food but i can say there was plenty of variety for all tastes and cultures when we arrived for breakfast. The beach is much tidier than it was the last time we were there and it is cleaned every day with plenty of sunbeds to use. There are 3 pools, we mainly stayed around the fabulous infinity pool and the smaller pool next to it. If you want to have a stroll along the beach towards the spa, pop into the St Regis who welcome you with open arms too. The staff overall made our holiday most enjoyable and they simply could not do enough for us. We were always greeted every morning and although we preferred getting up off our sun lounger to order drinks there is a bell where the staff will always be on hand to help with your order. We would like to say a big thank you to the pool bar staff (Splash) who made every day enjoyable and just how it should be. A big shout out to Zulkeply who remembered us from December 2017 and i have to say made a my birthday so memorable that year. Also a huge thank you to Azham, Rasif, Hasrul, Shaquil, Hospi, Aiman, Shahril and Gayri, the pool/towel guys, Zali, Maslan, Faruk, Bob, Nuh, Wan and Bob, to the Breeze guys a thank you to Christian, Sanjeev, Ashutosh and Ismadi. For the restaurant I'd like to say a thank you to Emmy. Concierge couldn't do enough and the reception staff were exceptional. All in all everyone was fantastic as always and hopefully we will be able to return back again one day.

My party of 6 adults and 2 children stayed for 3 nights at this resort recently. Our first impression on arrival was to be fully impressed by the hotel and its magnificent and spacious lobby. There are many settees and chairs in the lobby with just as many cushions to make one comfortable. We could notice the lovely wooden beams above us and the roof itself as there was no need for a ceiling as such. It was great woodwork and there was a massive artwork hanging majestically below.
Further ahead lay the well laid out Breeze Lounge with comfortable seats and a bar to the right. Facing us as we sipped our drinks on a hot afternoon - rum and coke as well as young coconuts, was the wonderful view of the calm and serene blue sea. Very relaxing and serene too!
Our rooms were excellent - big, roomy, relatively clean ( but table tops were dusty ) and the beds were comfortable with pillows galore. I had a good night's sleep on the 2nd and 3rd night because we took the trouble to open the balcony door to let in the outside air. The air conditioner was much too cold for comfort. This was the advice given by the hotel staff.
The area facing the sea was incredibly well landscaped with water features all over the place and done so tastefully. It also had a few water fountains. My wife and I relaxed on the lounge chairs facing the sea and took in the lovely breezes.
The beach was beautiful, clean and deserted. Walking along it barefoot was difficult because of the seashells strewn all over the place.
We dined only at the Tide Cafe and at the Breeze Lounge. The Tide Cafe waiters were more interested in chatting among themselves than observing if we needed assistance. One of them was also quite rude................asking us at 5.30 pm to vacate the table in 10 minutes because some other guests had booked that same table! What utter nonsense because there were at least 12 tables available besides ours and there were no other guests around!
The other negative thing I must mention is that the pricing for breakfast, lunch and dinner is much too high to say the least. Just for e.g. Nasi Goreng ( Fried Rice ) is RM 90.00 at the restaurant but only RM 50.00 if you order room service! With such pricing in place, we chose to eat at the restaurants / bars at Fisherman's Wharf just a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

We were recommended to upgrade our stay to the 2 bedroom Vila with the beach view. My kids love it. It’s a huge space even for a family with 4 children. It has a kitchenette with full-size fridge, CBTL espresso machine and an induction stove (we never do any cooking on our holidays!)
The Vila has a reading room with TV for my teenage son with en-suite toilet & shower, for his privacy. The kids room only has 2 queen beds, so one has to sleep on the sofa bed. Each spacious rooms has a large TV and the dining has a large table which can seat 8 person.
The private pool is very well maintained with a Balinese gong to chillax after swim. There is so much of space for the family. There are 2 big tubs and an outdoor shower in the master toilet. We really enjoyed the privacy and luxury.
Breakfast was fantastic at the Seasonal taste restaurant. The panoramic view of the sea was awesome while having the meal. We also had breakfast send to the Vila on the last day!
The resort is surrounded with wildlife. I enjoyed taking photos of the eagles, hornbills, egrets, lotongs (leaf monkeys) and the naughty beruks (short tail macaques) to name a few.
The spa was heavenly just like it’s name. A nice place to relax and rejuvenate. It is just next door to the Vila 5009. Very serene with an adult only pool. There are many other pools which are children friendly, like the rockpool, infinity pool, the main pool etc.
The staffs were super friendly and very resourceful. Many thanks to En. Aziz and colleagues who took us on the buggy rides at anytime of the day. Special compliments to chief concierge En. Mizan and front office Ms. Farah for their kind hospitality and Vila Managers En. Azrai and Puan Mahani who attended to our complaints very professionally.
Last but not least, the cleanliness and social distancing practiced at the resort make our holiday feel safe and joyful.

don't know how much it costs to purchase separately but advisable to include in your room cost as the hotel is located quite far away from any restaurants.
The breakfast spread is not bad with a good variety.
They DO have connecting rooms. I saw the door in my suite.
I think you should hire from airport rentals. and not sure of hotel availability but I think they can arrange but that
should be pricey. and straight to your answer not sure.
Its a private property and almost 700m from the main road. So its good to have a rental car so you can go anywhere or can call a grab. But i saw a restaurant very close to its exit and always it was full of cars. So there should be a restaurant very close.
