It’s a lovely location. A beautiful beach set on the edge of a rainforest. Accommodation is in chalets either in the forest or over the water. There are shuttles to take you to and from the main building with access to the pool, beach and restaurants.

Our adult son and daughter didn’t want to share a bed, and eventually a solution was found. The studios are spacious, and the children’s had been refurbished, which made ours seem a little tired by comparison. The air conditioning was a godsend.

The pool is beautifully landscaped, although some of the fake rocks are showing their age. The beach is just beyond, and if you time it right you can see the sea otters processing out of the water. The hotel nets off an area for swimming that keeps out the jellyfish. Shame about the rocks underfoot, which can cut your feet.

The restaurants are good- we ate at the Beach Brasserie a lot, but it can be hot at lunchtime. The Thai restaurant is romantic, especially at sunset, but be sure to book a day or two in advance.

The service in the bars, especially the pool bar, is atrocious. If they installed a terminal to generate the bills rather than disappearing constantly to do the admin, the staff could be more attentive. If their English language skills were better, they could chat to you and encourage you to have another round. If they were just there when you need them rather than chasing around the pool, they could double their turnover. The lobby bar was uncomfortably hot, and we had to ask for a vodka soda five times before a more senior barman came to clarify the order.

New Year’s Eve was seriously the best one ever. The gala dinner was included in our rate, much to our surprise, and they put on a fantastic party on the beach with a brilliant band, DJ, buffet and fireworks. We even got party bags. Well done for that!

The place is a little tired, but the main problem is the staff not being proactive enough.

Handy for the Sky Cab.

My husband and I visited here for a mini break ,tuesday to Friday .I could write a very long essay as I hardly know where to start , I will try to keep to the point ,firstly by saying this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at ,the main reason is the huge amount of friendly ,helpful ,smiling staff ,they couldn't do enough for us , it's a beautiful and peaceful location and you could easily spend a couple of weeks and never leave the resort (which we may return to do). Everything we needed was in our waterfront chalet and it was so nice to sit out on our balcony ,best shower ever ,a real drench power shower and his and hers sinks in the big bathroom ,also huge and comfortable bed ,air con and ceiling fan . There are always staff on call to help with anything you need ,several restaurants and bars and private beach, pools , all at the resort ,Oriental village/sky bridge/skycab was within walking distance ,we spent almost a full day there and still didn't manage to see it all . We also hired a 125 cc scooter each and toured the island all day for £10 each ,what a bargain ! It was our honeymoon and we had a massage booked at the spa (marvellous luxury) and whilst we were out the management delivered a honeymoon chocolate cake ,a basket of fruit ,a bag of sweets/biscuits and a box of sweets ,also a nice congratulations letter ,we were so touched by this . Every night ,early evening ,someone would ring our doorbell with a small box of sweets or cake . The breakfast buffet was outstanding ,the sunset dinner was lovely ,.We saw so much wildlife as well ,monkeys ,flying squirrel ,kites ,normal squirrels ,cormorants diving in to grab fish ,a bay full of porpoise or dolphins, and a kingfisher,a hornbill and lots of other birds we couldn't identify .We were so sad to leave the island and would love to go back one day .Highly recommend this place ,there wasn't anything that we didn't like .

We had a family chalet which is under the trees a few metres back from the see. The family chalets are conveniently close to the main facilities but our was in need of renovation. It is nice that the hotel provide insect repellent etc but might have been needed less if there weren't inch wide gaps around the balcony door. Sheets & towels were in good condition but the furniture was all rather worn. However a pleasantly high number of sockets in each room was a bonus.

Our main problem was with all the scooters. Guests are moved around the site in electric trolleys that are quiet (except when reversing) and do not cause any disturbance. However the constant traffic of scooters really spoils the otherwise idyllic ambiance. Security and groundskeepers were constantly buzzing past our chalet despite quite clear signage prohibiting scooters! On several occasions I had to grab my children out of the way as security staff were riding down the footpaths around the resort.

The security could have been better, it was a pointless display as you just saying that you're staying at the hotel and you're through. No recording of vehicle registrations or anything.

Due to MCO there was only one restaurant open for our first few days. It was ok, nothing spectacular and rather dissapointing to see mass produced frozen flatbreads being used. Not really five star! A wider selection to include such things as yoghurt or cereal would have been nice. As the restaurant is halal it is "facon" and chicken or bacon sausages only.

The hotel shop was excellent with most of the bits and pieces that you might want and the prices were not as inflated as at some hotels.

The pool is excellent, a shame that the pool bar couldn't open due to MCO however drinks were available from the beach bar. The beach was well kept but be careful of the steep shelf, not the best beach for young children.

The Thai restaurant is a lovely location but seriously let down by the food. It was not of a high standard.

Throughout the resort the vast majority of the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.

In Berjaya Langkawi Resort you can trek into the rainforest watch wildlife or relax on a white sandy beach where you can swim safely in the warm sea, hire a pedalo, Jet Ski’s or relax with a beer or cocktail. It all set in the middle of a rainforest surrounded by wildlife including 3 types of monkey, monitor lizards, geckos or lizards plus an abundance of birds.

The premier chalet with marble floors, a bath, shower and first class housekeeping plus sea views from your balcony with your own chairs and sun loungers was heaven itself. These rooms are 5 stars. Rooms can be a distance from the bars, pool and reception areas you ring for a shuttle bus who collect and deliver you to your chalet or destination at no charge.
The rest of the resort delivers the same high the quality the reception staff cannot do enough for you; the cabaret in an evening is pleasant. The pool, pool bar, beach and surrounding rainforest areas are simply stunning, so many vibrant colours take a deep breath or you won’t believe it.
Breakfasts are a buffet supplemented by fried, poached and scrambled eggs with omelettes of your choice, plenty of fruit plus tea, coffee and fruit juices. The restaurants are tranquil, with wonderful views set in stunning surroundings and the food is very good.
The Oriental village home of one of Malaysia's top attractions, the Cable Car and the Sky Bridge a 15 minute walk or 5 minutes free bus from the resort. From day one to the day we left we were treated like royalty.

This was a one night stopover on our way to Ko Lipe, so our requirements were merely functional - a low cost room for the night.
I have highlighted in the title something that we have never come across before, and I hope we never experience again. In many large hotel complexes where rooms/villas are located relatively long distances from the main reception/dining areas shuttle services are provided. In all cases in our experience these shuttles are battery powered ie silent and eco friendly. Inexplicably this hotel uses a good number of diesel powered shuttles as well as battery powered shuttles. For us this is totally unacceptable at every possible level since there appears to be no good reason for it. This is a very unusual topic to dominate a hotel review, but there it is. My strong suggestion to the management is to immediately stop using diesel powered shuttles.
Aside from the above all the staff are exceptionally helpful and attentive.
The beach area is large, but the sea in Langkawi is a murky green. The pool area is rather overcrowded.
Our cabin was comfortable but basic; no surprise given the budget price.
In summary it’s okay for a one night stopover, but definitely not a place for an extended stay.

Very impressed with the Berjaya's response to our emails asking for information regarding the costings and menus for all food options. We always had a reply within 24 hours. We emailed our referred room location before we arrived and we were happy that we were located where we requested. Staff throughout the hotel were happy and welcoming. Buggies to get you between reception and your room were efficient and we never had to wait long. We had thought that we would be able to walk to reception and back, but the walk back to our room was up a steep hill. The pool was great, but we felt that it was quite small compared with the size of the hotel. At low tide you will come across some coral if you walk in the sea so beach shoes are needed. The hotel has put up netting to help keep out any jellyfish. We preferred breakfast at The Beach Brasserie in the hotel and had a couple of evening meals there also. Staff got to know us and were very attentive. The Berjaya's Chinese Restaurant was lovely but we thought their Thai Restaurant was very over rated and food not that good at all. We could only order from a reduced set menu of the day. We had booked the larger Rainforest Studio with the bigger balcony which was fabulous, shower was great and had a very comfortable bed. During our stay the hotel also provided a bowl of fruit, a nice thought which was appreciated. We had different towel art everyday. We would definitely go back to this hotel if we went back to Langkawi.

Stayed in suite, right in front of beach view. What an amazing view if you’re there for couple trip. Buggy/Concierge staff was friendly, check in staff did not use sneeze guard counter, should make use of both (associate and guest) safety. Far away from restaurant, probably need to drive 20mins to cenang, if you’re okay with open air stalls just 10 mins away. 500m away from cable car and hotel do provide FREE shuttle service 😍 room facilities well provided, worth the amount I’ve paid for. Upon arrival, hotel provides free face mask to guest, allow for early check in Eventho I’ve purchase a last minute upgrade for suite room. Overall, amazing short trip.

I’d read mixed reviews about the Berjaya beforehand but as they were offering bookings at a reasonable rate over Christmas I thought I would give them a try.

The resort is conveniently close to the airport and the prearranged private transfer was friendly and efficient with a clean minivan. Arrival and check in were equally trouble free.

I had booked one of the larger overwater suites with a separate semi open spa bath day room. The room itself is quite spacious and the fixtures and décor were in good order and clean. The beds and seating areas are all comfortable and having a plumbed in water purifier that dispenses both chilled and hot water is really good – no clue why more hotels don’t use them instead of bottled water.

Room service/maids etc are all very friendly and polite. As I have seen in other reviews, the facilities in the main building are starting to look like they need an overhaul as does the catering.

My only downside was that despite there being plenty of signage around insisting guests wear masks at all times when in public spaces, many didn’t and this wasn’t challenged or enforced.

Overall I would say based on the rooms you could say that it’s a 5 Star resort but the rest of the facilities pull that down a little to a strong four instead – given the competition on the island from other 5 star resorts.

Would definitely go again.

Our first impression of this resort was not great. We were unimpressed with massive delays in getting a shuttle to drop us to our room. People who make booking here should really be aware of the following and then make their own choice
1. The hotel charged us MYR 150 for airport pick-up and offered us an option of MYR 290 for return. I am glad I took the former since the regular fare via grab taxi is MYR 20!! So do not make the mistake of booking the hotel arranged airport pick up/drop since there are plenty of transport options available and Grab App works very well in Langkawi.
2. The place is in a middle of no-where and quit far from the Cenang beach where the action is. Also you need to rely on restaurants at the resort since there are no other options close by. This was a bit frustrating.
3. The breakfast that is included in the room rate is very very ordinary. One of the reasons we paid exorbitant rates to get a room here was the so called availability of Indian food options but we found vegetarian options available in the buffet breakfast one of the worst and very disappointing.
4. As my daughter commented when she entered the room, ‘it looks like a motel papa’. That would give you the idea that rooms are not luxurious by any standards though they are spacious. Also beware of monkeys given the rooms are in the middle of a dense forest.
5. The pillows provided by the hotel are not comfortable at all and are too thick. When asked for a replacement, the hotel said they did not keep thin ones. This effected the quality of our sleep.
6. On the positive side, the resort is quite close to the cable car and the oriental village with a free resort shuttle that takes you there (5 minutes shuttle ride). There is also a good money exchange outlet there offering much better FX rates than the hotel.
7. The swimming pool at the resort is quite good with number of lounge chairs to relax after a dip.
8.The hotel staff is generally friendly and courteous.
We paid roughly USD 350 per night to book a room at Berjaya but frankly did not find it value for money at all.

Berjaya Resort is nestled in Burau Bay with the private stretch of beach. There are two types of chalet, which is the rainforest chalet and the other is sea view chalets right on top of the sea waters. This resort has a relaxing environment and a nice stretch of beach. We stayed at the rainforest chalet , with well appointed room , hot showers , air conditioning and very comfortable beds . Housekeeping team perform housekeeping on time but need to constantly be reminded to replenish the shampoo and bath gels. The resort has a very well stocked gift shop, you can find everything there at reasonable prices including game cards that I can’t find in toys r us. During the RMCO period, the resort has good guidelines on safety such as physical distancing in the seating area at the lobby as well as the buggy services. Some of the activities also have not started due to Covid 19 concerns. Anyways we met very friendly and helpful staff at the recreational desk. They gave us helpful tips relating to some of our interests. We end up doing ATV which is a very cool experience. The staff manning the ATV provide us proper training before we head off to the mangrove. He was very patient and always come down to help us with our corner turnings when our ATV got stuck. All in all , it was a lovely stay at Berjaya and I would definitely come back here again!

I would definitely recommend the resort. I was there with a party of 12 and we all thought it was great. With regards to the over water bungalows, we didn’t stay in one , we had one of the ones that overlooked the water but not on it . Honestly speaking the over water bungalows looked a bit disappointing as mostly they were over rocks rather than water. Although of course once you are in them and looking out it would have been fine . I would say if the cost between one of them and the sea front villas is massive then don’t bother .

Hello the 1 we stayed in is a 2 bedroom chalet which is enough for 4 adults. Each bedroom had a queen bed adequate to accommodate 2 adults each. The resort is spread across a hilly area. The chalet where we stayed is not suitable for people with crutches. But you can talk to the hotel people to give you suitable options. Thank you
