We have just spent 15 nights at the Berjaya Langkwai resort, this is a truly unique resort, the accommodation is set in the rain forest, yet only a few minutes walk to a lovely white sandy beach. We stayed in a Chalet, and our daughter a studio Chalet, both were good size, nd both were individual properties, and had balconies to sit on and enjoy the wildlife. We have travelled all around the world, and this location tops it all, it is so unique to sit on your balcony and see monkeys climbing up the trees, squirrels and various birds. The resort is set in beautiful gardens, and is maintained very well. The accommodation is all spotlessly clean, as everywhere on the resort. I would like to thank Jacky and Muhammed for making my daughter's birthday so special, they gave us a wonderful breakfast on the beach, decorated her room and gave her a cake, it made it truly special. The location on the island is the best, as you can walk for 5-10, or the hotel provide a shuttle to the Oriental village, where you can do the Sky cab, there are little shops and coffee shops etc here. Everyone in the hotel is very friendly and helpful. I would like to thank Imran for doing such a good job on looking after our rooms, and to Hafizan for looking after my daughter with the watersports. And to Adrian, who keeps the resort running so well.…
Enjoyed my honeymoon at Berjaya Resort, everything was great! Though it is quite obvious that some of the chalets are pretty old, but we didn’t have much issue throughout 3 nights there. Kudos to one of the staffs, Aziman (if not mistaken) as he was extremely helpful and friendly while we were there.
There are other luxurious resorts in Langkawi and it's true that this resort is a little outdated, but I was looking for a place that would be worth my spending and that is exactly what I got (and even more). Many have already mentioned about the staff here and I totally agree. There were surprisingly pleasant, helpful and caring. Even before booking, there were responsive and helpful to my inquiries. This is very unusual in Malaysia, even for 5-star establishments. My room (Rainforest Studio) was big, clean and everything was functioning as it should be. The bed was comfy, but the sofa was overly soft. There was nothing special about the hotel facilities, but they seemed to be OK. We liked the natural environment around the resort. Yes, lots of monkeys, birds and bugs... The only downside for us was the dining. Thai restaurant was OK (need to book well in advance for the nice sunset) but Dayang Café was a disappointment that we skipped our free dinner. Breakfast was better with fresh fruit juice and Roti Canai. If they want more international guests, definitely need to improve on this. Buggies and breakfast were very busy, but they were well managed. We didn't have to wait forever. I think they had allocated the more experienced staff for these tasks, which is smart. All in all, we were very satisfied with our stay - mostly due to the great staff, specifically for me the reservations, front desk, buggy management guy and the sports/recreation desk staff.…
We had a very enjoyable stay in Berjaya Langkawi Resort and would love to be back. Although the hotel is a bit aged, everything is very clean, from the rooms to the vast grounds and facilities. The location is lovely, but what truly made the hotel special are the staff; they were all warm, friendly and courteous, and always ready with a smile although most of them were fasting in scorching hot weather. Special thanks to Siti Rahaya from the Little Monkeys Club, she was very kind and accommodating to my kids, and such a joyful bubbly lady! Food. Buffet breakfast at Dayang Café was a generous spread and everyone had their choices catered to, with plenty of fresh fruit and juices as well. We also dined in twice at Dayang for lunch, and the food is above average with reasonable prices for a hotel restaurant. Having travelled a few times during the pandemic and experienced lousy food even at five star resorts due to staff shortages, we had low expectations, and were pleasantly surprised that Berjaya Langkawi has held up their restaurant standards. We did not have a chance to try Pahn Thai as we usually ate out for dinner. Nature. The resort is nestled in the jungle so do expect mosquitoes, just bring insect repellent. There’s plenty of wildlife to spot, a group of dusky leaf monkeys even showed up at the hotel lobby one day. The bay is pristine and small fishes would swim right up the shore around you, and we had small swimmer crabs running across our feet in the water. There are also groups of jellyfish sometimes, but swimmers have a safe netted area to swim in. Waves are very gentle in the bay and very safe for young children. Buggy. Buggy rides were prompt and never more than a five-minute wait as we were staying during low season, and we saw the buggies going up and down the path even late at night. The only occasion we had to wait was during the buka puasa hour as the drivers were breaking their fast, which was totally understandable. Our kids enjoyed the buggy rides tremendously and it was all part of the fun. Kudos to the management and keep up the great job!…
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Not a 5 star (not even close to a decent 3 star). -Horrible check in experience. The clerk (Ms. Dailila) was very rude. She had the worst attitude I have ever seen. She did not even want to explain to us the facilities available at the resort. -The room had very large cockroaches and even ants went all over my toothbrush. When I called them to explain the situation, they said that they would do something about it and even said they would offer me a better room. I waited 3-4 hours and they said they still did not have a room. Then they said they would call me to advise me once the room was available (they never did). Note that after the room cleaning they didn't even remove the dead cockroaches that were lying on the floor. Furthermore they removed the towels but never replaced any of them. Ridiculous - why would you remove all the towels and not replace them. It gets worse, I asked for the bedsheets to be changed but they didn't. -Note that the hotel makes you wait for 20-30 minutes every time you need to go to your room from the main hotel or from the hotel to the main room. Further they expect you to wait in the scorching heat outside without advising a waiting time. For a 500 room resort imagine having only 2-3 operational vans. They say they have 7 (which would still be too little) but most of them are parked on the side and not in use. Imagine the travel time to and from breakfast takes an hour alone!!!!!! -The door got jammed and my wife got stuck in the room. Called them for help and they made her wait in the room for 25 minutes before someone even came to help. Then she had to wait another 20 minutes outside before they sent someone to get her and only because I went to speak to the manager in the main hotel. Then once she got to the hotel breakfast it was already finished but I had saved her a plate, they asked us to leave! They said they would start brushing the dirty from the floor, I tried to explain what had just happened, but it seemed like the restaurant manager was not interested. The staff are clearly untrained and exceedingly rude, they must have been hired from a 1 star motel. I stayed at 2 other hotels in langkawi and several other hotels in Malayisa. Not a single person or hotel employee at any other place than the Berjawa Langkawi were rude to me except at this resort. -Ordered water at the beach cafe, they informed that only large bottles were available. So I explained that I wanted glasses since we were several people. The man came back with large bottles and no glasses. I asked him for glasses but he said I had to walk to the shack to get them myself. Further he wanted to leave drinks for other tables at small tables out in the sun rather than getting them tables. Several times while waiting for the buggy, they kept letting other people on before us (all white European). I asked them why, they said because the buggy was going in their direction. THIS WAS A LIE! I saw their room number and it turned out to be almost opposite our chalet. I can not believe that this day an age to experience something like this. Several other hotel residents were echoing the same sentiments. It seems like they just re-opened after Covid and don't have proper staff. I will also be complaining to the Malaysian tourism agency, Berjaya Resort company and anyone else I can find about cleanliness standards. It is a real shame, because the resort is built on a very beautiful land.…
