The hotel is located about 5 mins away from the airport and about 15 mins to Cenang beach (main attraction in Langkawi) by car. The rooms are super spacious and located in a scenic and green environment. There is no beach per say, but it is a sea front property. The food is so so, mostly local food for in room dining which was reasonably priced. Service is as expected for the price that you are paying. Generally the rooms and buildings are a bit dated, but still well maintained. The pool is definitely one of the main highlights of the place. Mostly locals in the area. It's a quiet part of the island and more family oriented resort. Overall, great value for money ! Would come again.
My friends & I had bought a holiday package from a tour agency where Ombak Villa was chosen to be one of our accommodations. Check-in was supposed to be at 3:00 pm. However, when we arrived at 3:30 pm, we were told that our rooms were still not ready. Apparently, the Hotel was not informed by the tour agency that we would like to have connecting rooms. So, while waiting, we had helped ourselves to the tetra-packed welcome drinks. I had also indulged in a game or two of checkers with my friends at the lobby. We only received the keys to our 2 rooms an hour later at 4:30 pm. Since connecting rooms weren’t available, we got the next best thing. Our rooms were beside one another on the 1st floor of the Cempaka block. It was worth the wait. Both rooms were big & spacious. The design & layout was certainly different than the usual hotel room. The bed was the room’s focal point & it was facing the sliding door which opened up to a rather big balcony. The bed’s headboard also served as a partition to the writing table which was located behind the bed. Unfortunately, the TV was small & the reception wasn’t good. Also, we were unable to get access to the complimentary WiFi. Our bathroom was large, equipped with a bathtub & a rain shower. The toiletries smelled very nice too. An electric mosquito repellent kit was also provided in the room apart from the iron, ironing board & electronic safe. Tea & coffee making facilities plus 2-bottled water were also thoughtfully provided adhering to the standard hotel practice. Unfortunately, the prayer mat which was delivered to us by a housekeeping staff had a musky smell which was a turn off. In addition, there was a 2-seater outdoor seat & a side table which completed the look & setting at the balcony. We did not get to use the Hotel’s swimming pool as we were diligently observing the SOP due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. But my partner had used the gym. Although the gym was small, all the equipment & machines were the latest. There was a lot of green throughout the Hotel & the view towards the open sea was simply magnificent. We also chose to forgo the use of the battery operated buggy service in lieu for a good walk. Reservation for a steamboat sunset dinner was made one night. It was RM25/pax & the food items were in abundance for 4 small eaters like us. Unfortunately, the sunset was spoilt due to some light rain. But we still enjoyed the view of the Hotel’s water chalets from our seats. There was also a wicker swing overlooking the sea which made sense for a good photo opportunity spot. Breakfast was at the coffee house but since it was still during the Movement Control Order, it was just a small spread with very little varieties to choose from, not like the usual that we would find in 5-star hotels. Nevertheless, the food was decent. I would probably return back to this Hotel in future.…
