This hotel is right next to Langkawi Int Airport, don't let this put you off as all the windows in the building have the thickest glass I have ever seen, you do not hear any aircraft noise, even from the pool area as the runway is quite a distance from the hotel.

We have stayed here a couple of times, mainly for convenience. The first time was when we were married and I had to keep going into Kuah to make arrangements. After our wedding reception we returned to the hotel and the management had left complimentary wine, flowers, fruit and a wedding cake. We thought this was very thoughtful of them as it was unexpected.

The one really great thing we liked about Helang is the fact that most travellers just by pass it without a second glance, they head for the beach resorts - so you generally have the place and staff all to yourself. Wow ! an empty pool on a holiday island, pick your lounger - they are all empty.

No problems with money changers or taxi's either as your right next to the airport.

As for the rooms - they are all decorated to a good standard with full en-suite bathrooms, large comfortable beds, room service etc.

We found all the staff to be extremely helpful and polite.

If you are a business traveller and going to Langkawi for LIMA (book early), this place has to be considered. Even if you are just an aircraft spotter, this is where you would want to be.

I would never book this hotel for a week of planned beach vacation, but we were cheated by a tour operator in Shanghai (do you want the name of these morons?) and they have canceled a booked resort in the last minute before the flight. And it was a high season – Chinese NY, no more possibilities for accommodation.
When I checked the location of the Helang, I was deeply disappointed, because I found that we now need to stay not in a tropical paradise like we are used to spend our vacation, but in the airport hotel. Oh, I was very angry and full of gloomy expectations.
First, we found that it is 45 sec. walking from a terminal of the airport to the reception of the hotel. Do I need to say we were driven to the place by a small bus? It took 1 minute. The hall of the hotel was large, and we found that room is also very big and… yes, unbelievable, it was quiet. An expectable roaring of the planes was not audible.
Everything was simple and comfortable. I have even spent one evening sitting in the pool bar surfing internet. Quite nice. Furthermore, we swam in the hotel’s swimming pool, and forgot for a time that we are next to airport.
How about the ocean and sand beaches? We have heard that it is a satellite resort of Heladen – Four Points by Sheraton, which is in walking (but it is not a pleasant walk, trust me) distance and have an open beach. But we have never used it.
By scooter it is 10 – 15 minutes driving to the south, on the Jalan Pantai Chenang road. There you find everything: sand beach, palms, restaurants, shops, bars, water activity… and even helicopter for rent! Frankly speaking from Heladen with the scooter you can discover whole west side of Langkawi, so, don’t have doubts, take a transport, it is useful.
Well, summary: the hotel is good. It is suitable for conferences, I’m sure it was full during aero show last year. It is good if you have a business trip. But staying there with a hope to get another paradise vacation is maybe not a best idea.

at first, we overshoot because we can't see the hotel at night. Until we reached the next petrol station which was about 10mins away and the attendant said it was just right next to the airport. Check in was ok. Room was nice! Beautiful scenery. :)

First when we enter the room, we are really shocked when we saw the room is in very worst conditions. It is very old and floor is look not clean or mop at all. The smoke detector on the ceiling had been removed; cracks exist around socket outlet power points. When we switch on all the light in the room, the room looks very dark as one of the light on the wall had been removed. We requested to change room, the other room is still crappy, refrigerator was malfunction, the sofa, blanket, pillow case and bed sheet got a bad ondour and black spots stains. When I requested to changed, the receptionist told me that housekeeping department was closed at 11pm and there was no more staff working. When we taken breakfast, another worse thing happened, we saw a few of birds and flies to ruin our breakfast as the main door of lobby was opened, the tableware was a little bit Rupture, the food is very simple and not tasty at all. I don’t think will come back again and not recommended for friend or family trip stay.

First of all, the hotel was cheap in compared to any other 4 star rated hotel in langkawi. So we decided take in this hotel. When we arrived, the check in was quite smooth, I had no issue with that. The lobby looks classy, because I believe they have been renovated, so it looks new and has the 4 star look(as the old folks says, don't judge by its cover).

Anyways, I parked the car, decided to rest the trip, wanting to take a hot shower and sneak out for a short dinner. When we walk into towards the lift, we saw 1 of the lift was not working, and we took the other one. Lift look old and slow. When the lift open on our floor, the 1st thing we saw was the carpet. OMG, the carpet looks uncleaned for ages. I don't thing the house keeping team owns a vacuum at all. When we walk the corridor, it smells full of cigarette smoke.

When we went into the room, the room doesn't have a carpet, which is for me a good thing and the bad thing because, carpet was filthy and at the same time I have a 1 year old son crawling on the floor, don't want him to hurt himself on the floor.
Went into the shower and found shower do not have hot water. Called the reception, they said will sent a maintenance. The maintenance came after my 5th complaint. I tested the shower, was still the same. Called in the reception on the sixth time, and they claim that all the rooms in the hotel does not have hot shower, only warm shower. I was puzzled to know a 4 star hotel doesn't have a hot shower, and how am I suppose to bathe my son?

Next day, went down for breakfast, not much variety, I am not so keen on the quantity but the quality. The pancake was not too bad. Nasi Lemak was so spicy. All the 3 days that we stayed we only took, scramble egg, pan cake, bread butter and fruits. Rest of it either it doesn't have taste or too spicy.

I believe the hotel was overated, it is no different than a service in a motel. Not going to come again unless the hotel has major change.

The hotel is so smelly when every time I back to the room. The blanket, pillow case and bed sheet got a bad odour. The air con is not cool at all and there is no access to wifi. Not recommended for family or business trip stay. Don't think will come back again.

The hotel now is known as One Hotel Helang Langkawi. First when we enter the lobby, it was really awesome as the lobby looks very huge and you can feel like staying in the 5 stars world class hotel. However, take note, there is no bell boy in the hotel. Staying here for 2 nights, we never see any bell boy. You have to open the entrance door byself and carry all your baggage byself. There is no standby Bell boy at all. The receptionist are not that friendly. We are really shocked when we saw the hallway carpet is in a very worst conditions. It is really dirty and disgusting. The room is not that good, it is very old and the floor is not clean at all. I think they never clean or mop it at all. The toilet is also very disappointing. I am very sorry to say, this hotel should be rate as 1 star hotel in term of cleanliness and services. The breakfast was really simple and not tasty at all. It is just eating in the school canteen with simple taste food. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody. I do agreed with others which is no wifi in the room, if there is, the connection is not that good. Please avoid and look for more comfortable and great service hotel. Langkawi actually have more much better hotel that this hotel.

Where to begin? The only redeeming feature is the location about 100 metres from the airport terminal.

Mould in shower growing on the sealant, lights that are so dim it is impossible to read in bed, housekeeping minimal - dirty plate left in room for several days, bathroom never cleaned properly, towels supplied reluctantly - one towel most days occasionally two. Internet very slow when working, typically not working in the morning as the technical does not start work till around 9 am. Worst of all, i went down the fire exit and the ground floor door was locked.

My girlfriend and I had 2 nights left on Langkawi and was looking for a bit of luxury before we left. We saw the the Hotel Helang and thought it has everything we would need to have a nice relaxing 2 days.
We arrived and had to find our own trolley and then hump our 7 bags up to the room ourselves even though there were staff there, I'm not one to let people carry my luggage anyway but there wasn't even an offer.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable so I have no complaints here BUT you then leave the room the lobby ALWAYS smells of cigarette smoke and room service dishes were outside the doors all down the corridor (same plates for the whole 2 days). Also there looked to be building dust everywhere!!!!!
Anyway we carried on down to the very spacious pool only to be told that the advertised POOL BAR (loose term) was now shut for renovations but there was absolutely no renovations happening what so ever. So we proceeded to ask in the main restaurant if we could order some alcoholic beverages only to be told that all they had was cans of lager and gin not even fruit juices. We decided to leave the hotel and drive to get some beverages from a local mini mart, we then felt settled sat by the pool. 1 hour later we were asked to leave the pool as it was shutting down for the night, 8am - 8pm was advertised on the internet and at hotel reception it was now 6.45pm. We then went up to our room got changed and came down to the main restaurant for dinner, we waited to be seated for 20 minutes before we realised that it wasn't even open!!!!!!
Next day the pool towel hut was unmanned for the whole 2.5 hours we were there and again we were left dumbfounded by this so called 4 star service.
We felt it necessary to complain to the manager but all he could say was that he would arrange for a lift to the sister hotel down the road. IF I WANTED TO STAY THERE I WOULD OF!!!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! THE PLACE IS A JOKE!!!!! THIS IS MY FIRST REVIEW AND I FEEL OBLIGED TO HELP PEOPLE NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID!!!!!

I was residing there just recently and I was shocked to see that the rooms were huge. The toilets had a seprate shower glass cubicle and a bath was big. In terms of room's cleanliness and all, this place did its job. I cannot complain about the room because it was good.

However, room service is terribly slow. There seems to be this relaxed pace at which everyone adheres to. There is no sense of urgency even though I specifically asked for the order to be hurried. I find it hard to fathom how the majority of people in Langkawi rely on tourism as their source of income and yet seem to be ingrained with laziness.

There is a free shuttle service to Helang's sister resort, Langkasuka Beach Resort. Now, the reason why I did not stay at Langkasuka was because it did not receive good comments here. But yet, I found myself taking up the shuttle service and ferrying myself to Langkasuka just so I can get some booze and also to swim. If you are going to use this shuttle, I suggest you call from your room and then go down and check again if the call has been made for the shuttle. I had my call forgotten about.

The swimming pool is in poor maintenance at Helang Hotel. The pool looks so good from afar. But while I was in it, I realised just how many fallen leaves were floating about in the water. My worst experience was seeing a cockroach floating in the pool. I mean, would it be so hard to use a net and take all these out?? For god's sake, a cockroach!

The location is right beside the airport but it was not noisy at all because no plane is allowed to stay overnight in Langkawi. So planes are out of the city before bedtime.
