For a day or two in Kota Bharu, I’d say this is a wonderful hotel. The room is huge and so is the bed, which is the most comfortable I’ve slept in in a very long time. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The location is also very good, with loads of restaurants (from local cuisine to the Chinese one) near by. Highly recommended! Thank you so much ❤️ The girl from room 617

We were initially given room 531 and it was in a very very poor condition. Everything in that room was old and smelly - pillows, mattress and the worst was the carpet (very filthy). After an hour checked -in and rested we had to change the pillows because it was too smelly. The next day we got another room (1021) and to our pleasant surprise the room was much newer and acceptable. The question is, why sell the old non-renovated, filthy and smelly room to your guest when the condition was very poor and didn't even match your hotel stars? Room 531 to me was a 1-star rating. Your staff though were very helpful and responsive to change the pillows and room. Could this similar experience also happened to other guests before us that had room 531? My next trip to KB would be to a much cleaner hotel room in another hotel. Thanks but no thanks GRV for the bad experience! Luckily we both have no sinus or asthma.

Booked this hotel bcos of the view, and the property exterior & rooms looked fine in photos. Upon checking in, lobby looks glorious with all SOPs in place. We were assigned to a spoilt room (Housekeeping & Res team - how did this happen!?) It was creepy & eerie in the corridor and that spoilt room had a doorbell ringing on its own, non-stop! Electricity didn’t work either when we slot the card in. After calling & waiting for 15 mins, FO team came and brought us to another room. I had asked for an upgrade for the trouble and seeing as the occupancy was low, but she didn’t accommodate. Unfortunately when we got to the room, it was extremely old and poorly maintained - yellow stains in the bathtub & black stains inside the toilet bowl. Kettle didn’t seem clean inside. Two plug points were not working. Strangely, no toothbrush & toothpaste (the most important!) were not provided, BUT other amenities like shower gel, shampoo & lotion were. Did they miss it out? Good points were: Riverview from the room was glorious, F&B were decently good, staff were pleasant & hospitable.

Worst Experience Ever!!!! We are staying in Suite Room on 28 August 20. Check in around 4pm. room seen to be okay with everything but there was a excrement in the toilet was no being clean by the housekeeping. when try to flush it was stuck and more come out, it was so disgusting and so awful. I make a complain to the front office & they change to the new room. Then in the new room the toilet door can't be close. So when anyone take a shower, the water will splashed and wet until front of the toilet door. Then i make a new complain. But there is nothing to be done by them. In the morning, i tried to see the Hotel General Manager Mr Peter. But he was at the coffee house and just make us waiting for him about 20minute and not appears to meet. It was very rude to make a guess waiting and insisted not to meet us. There was no appologies from the Hotel. We was a regularly been there and accualy my family members wedding also performed there. IT WAS VERY RUDE to treat us this way. How can this hotel get a 4stars rating. bad experience after few years been regularly there.

We were looked after and staff were friendly and helpful. We were walking distance to cafes and restaurants. The pool was great and Kota Bharu was really interesting. Need to get a good taxi driver who can speak English. Would definitely stay there again.

Took two rooms, one with king bed and another with twin beds. Room size is adequate at about 30m2. Bathroom is nice but room itself needs furniture refurbishment. The air conditioning borders between stuffy room temperature on one end and not so cold and noisy on the other; indications that the system needs servicing. They still maintain the furniture from its early days, scratches and all. For a 4* hotel, it would not hurt if they could supply 4 pillows instead of 2 in each room. Location wise, its quite a walking distance to the market (about 500m), the old palace, museums and central mosque near which is the famed White House cafe. Less than 200m from the hotel is Wau Cafe (decent selection with nice ambience) and Restoran Hj Ismail Sumatera for popular local lunch. On the upside, its beside the wide silt tainted river where one could take a stroll or jog along the bank. There is no ferry or boat rides though, not like in Kuching Sarawak. Not much if view on the other side of the bank.

The restaurants are Asian but in most other respects this is an international hotel, with all that that implies, both good and bad. It's easy - staff speak English, the room looks like you'd expect a hotel room to look and there are no surprises like a quirky loo. On the other hand, once inside you could easily be in London, Sydney, New York or Berlin. But in a city where so much else is unexpected and feels distinctly "other", coming back to something that felt familiar at the end of the day was a comfortable experience. And I can't fault the quality of the service or the standard of the room.
