We spent 3 nights here in June this year. The Malay House was basic but clean and there is Aircon (not advertised). Nusa Village is a bit further out from the rest of the hotels and hostels and needs an additional boat trip to reach - get the boat from the Nusa Cafe in the village - you may have a wait if you arrive from Jerantut by boat.
We were under the impression that we'd have to pay for the boat trip back to the village (RM5 per person each way) but the reality was were we never asked to pay even when we offered.

The food is basic but we really enjoyed it - definitely my favourite "Nasi Kampung" of the whole trip.

The hotel staff are friendly enough and were happy to prepare a packed lunch for you if you want to wander off the beaten track (watch out for leeches :-D). The location is really quiet but it makes it difficult to take part in the Night 4WD safari that's offered from the tour agencies in the restaurants in the village but that really is the only downside. We travelled with 2 young children and the small tributary flowing into the main river was great for the kids to play in.

Like many places in the Taman Negara, its alcohol free.

We stayed three days. The rooms at river side are great as you hear the river sound at night which is very relaxing. The room was good (for standards of a jungle hotel). We had brought our own bedsheets since we read about dirty bedsheets which were indeed a bit dirty. The bathroom was very clean. We slept very well and very much enjoyed the accomodation.

The staff at the restaurant was very friendly and extremely accomodating. I was on a special diet those days and they prepared the food according to my whishes.

The boat rides to and from the HQ in Kuala Tahan were fun and we really enjoyed the daily boat ride.

The only drawback of this hotel is that the last boat from Kuala Tahan to Nusa Village leaves at 6.20pm. Since we wanted to do the night jungle walk in the Park, we had an issue. You can hire a boat for 120RM to pick you up, but since there is not light, some people did not recommend to be on the boat at night, since you can't see where the currents take you.

We talked to the Manager of Nusa Village, Mr. Rosli, and he agreed to pick us up in Kuala Tahan after our night walk. However, he completely forgot us and did not answer our calls. We got in touch with Nusa Village who sent someone else to pick us up 1hour later than agreed!

When checking out, Mr. Rosli then wanted to have 100RM for this pick-up, which we had never agreed or touched on. The talk was very unpleasant and Mr. Rosli even tried to tell the boat driver not to leave with us. Although we feel he just tried to get money from us, we agreed to give him 50RM to settle things. He was still very unfriendly and even insulted us.

If you want to do the night walk (which was one of our highlights!), try to get an accomodation in Kuala Tahan for that night. Or if you do stay in Nusa, agree with Mr. Rosli upfront on a price for the pick-up

I did not stay in a room here. My family & I spent a week camping in Taman Negara and we spent two nights at the Nusa Holiday Village campsite.

First off, don't expect too much. It is extremely basic. You have a makeshift tent kitchen with running water and a basic bathroom and toilet nearby. But the great thing about the campsite is it's away from the crowd so you get to enjoy nature in peace without strangers peeking into your tent. There's a tiny muddy stream nearby for kids to wade in and if you walk a little, you will come to the big river where you can do some swimming, just be very careful of the strong currents. The restaurant overlooks the river with an excellent view of the jungle and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The downside is that it is far from the main entrance to the jungle. You will have to take a 10 minute boat ride just to get across the river (which you have to pay each time). Also because you have to travel back by boat, you need to get back before 6pm which means night trekking is out. There is basically nothing to visit on this side of the river.

Good place to camp and laze around, nothing much else to do.

It's the first time of my whole life that I decided to cancel after 30 minutes and to choose another staying. As I already spent quite some time in jungle lodges all over the world I thought I knew what to expect. But not at all... Nobody welcoming us (after shouting three times there was movement from a girl sitting in front of the TV - the girl hiding behind the reception desk in front of me was so busy playing computer games that she was apparently not able to react). The whole resort is not maintained and everything is outdated. Waste (i. e. old toilet brush, plastic bottles) laying in front of the huts, smelly rooms, dangerous bridges... It seemed we where the only guests - it was like staying in a ghost city. The perspective of spending two nights there made us feel so bad that we decided to leave right away. Unfortunately, the first half was already paid and a call with the manager made clear that there was no way to get the money back. At least, after some discussion, they agreed to meet the next morning to do the booked day trip. I must say, the guide was very friendly and we enjoyed the day with him a lot although it was not possible to do the Canopy walk as it rained to much the night before... But we can absolutely not recommend to stay there!

Good points:
- Beautiful location
- Decent food (however, do not always expect to get what you ordered!)

Minuses:
- Rooms are very dated and have not been maintained for many years. The roof was leaking... The carpet looked as if had never been cleaned…
- Linen were smelling badly of mildew
- For most tours at least 4 people are needed (e.g. rafting, night safari). As we did not manage to find other interested couple and boat service to Kualan Tahan is on pre-defined times, last boat leaving to Nusa at 6:20, we were stuck in this dated place
- All hostels and even the only hotel are of very poor quality. If you want to enjoy the rainforest, avoid Kuala Tahan entrance!

We spent 3 night in the nusa holiday village, and we booked the 4 day/3 night experience, including all the food and tours. Since we were the only guests doing the tours that time, we had our own private guide. He was really fiendly and learned us a lot about the things the rainforrest has to offer. The nightwalk was really good as well. The food at the resort was really good. The staff was friendly, though their english wasn't really good but that's what you see in a lot parts in Malaysia. The accomodation was cosy, no bugs, but don's expect anything fancy. We really enjoyed our stay here en felt really welcome so I would definiteley recommend it.

We stayed for 3 days from Oct 9 to 11th 2011. Beautiful location. Rooms are neat and clean. Service was good. Hike to Abai falls is good. Staffs are friendly. Would highly recommend. They do not charge you for the boat trips to Canopy & Village. Food is decent.

We were so relieved arriving at the quiet, peaceful Nusa Camp after spending one night and one day in Kuala Tahan, a village overflowing with tourists. Nusa is located 15 minutes by boat to the north of Kuala Tahan (or 10 minutes by car) and it feels like you are in the middle of the jungle.
We shared a lovely, though basic, river-view cabin (don't forget your mosquito net!). The view from the restaurant was great and the staff was very welcoming and friendly!
During our stay the hotel owner arranged a private half-day river boat tour for the two of us. It is also possible to hike to the nearby Abai waterfall (+/- 3 hrs in total, no guide needed). This hike was beautiful and it was great not bouncing into groups of tourists which is the case on nearly all Kuala Tahan-based trails.
All in all, if you want to do more than just barely scratch the surface of the Taman Negara, as is the case in Kuala Tahan, I would definitely recommend a visit to Nusa Holiday Village!

You are within the jungle. This is really cool! By a 15-20min free boot ride from Kuala Tahan you can reach Nusa Camp. This ride gives me everytime a goose skin!

We have had a cottage with river view. The view was really awesome and you hear all night long the river which I like. But the rooms are very old. I first read the sign at the door that it is Malaysian tradition to slip out of your shows before entering the room. I have done so before opening the door ... after the door was open I immediately jumped back into my shoes. The carpet tiles are so old and dirty that I never tried again to walk barefooted.
Also the bed has very old sheets and mattresses .... disgusting!
The bathroom was quite good ... a little bit better than bathing in the river.
Maybe I compare this too much with the Hard Rock Hotel in Penang where we've been before ... but hey they really need a redo of the entire complex.

In the first night we were the solely guest in the whole hotel and the two girls who were responsible for the reception and the kitchen done everything false ... after complaining and explaining .. they got it right :-)
Breakfast was Ok, also some dinners in the evening can be eaten.

Maybe I would go there again.

It was fun and most memorable. Don't expect to have a dry boat ride from Kuala Tahan to Nusa Camp...especially during the monsoon season. My family and I love the boat rides. Thanks to the boatman as he expertly handled and maneuvered his long and narrow boat through the rapids. It was all 'Splishy-Splashy' boat ride during the 'Night River Cruise'

We caught a glimpse of a Samba Deer eating shoots and leaves, serenaded with sounds (hoots and squawks) from varieties of night birds, and also the sounds of running animals in the dark. Not forgetting the clear skies that displayed thousands of beautiful and colorful stars above our heads. We saw two shooting stars. Through the excitement we forgot to make a wish.

Alas, the one and half hour boatride wasn't enough, Aha....and don't expect a dry butt. We plan to revisit and at that time we will stay longer and have many more boat rides.

Nusa Camp provides comfortable rooms, cheap and affordable food and cheery guests. The guide and the boatman were cheery too.
