Responsiveness of the staff is below Hyatt standards. At check-in we were not told any directions to our room and, as a result, we wandered throughout he property for about 20 minutes and then we had to go back to the reception to ask for directions. If you call for something at the guest services they will deliver, but only after more than an hour's wait. Housekeeping services are unpredictable, one towel today but two medium towels tomorrow etc. We had to call every day to get our towels the right way. We were there for six nights, same story every single day. If they don't bring the towels after two hours you can call guest services again but they will simply not answer your phone call! - this happened enough times so I know that this is what they do as matter of routine.
A mysterious charge for a phone call (that we have never placed) was presented to us at check out and had to be removed upon our vehement protests. Food offerings (breakfast and lounge) are average, breakfast is slightly better and more varied, but the lounge food, however, is really poor and deadly monotonous. Otherwise, the swimming pools are nice, the rooms clean, the atmosphere relaxed. Beware of a sudden visit from a monkey on your own balcony!

I booked a twin sea view room for 2 nights with access to the Regency Lounge. The recently renovated room looked immaculate and clean. However, after two days some problems became apparent. Firstly there is only one mirror located in the bathroom and no mirror in the bedroom. Secondly the shower temperature was unstable and would change from tepid to hot without moving the tap. On the second morning there was no hot water.

The location of the room was next to the Regency Lounge which, inconveniently, has recently stopped serving breakfast. This meant that guests, who had paid extra for access to the lounge, had a 1 kilometer walk from the room to the crowded breakfast area. Being partly disabled this became a major inconvenience as it was monsoon season and heavy rain would lash down in the open areas of the corridors causing floors to become slippery and dangerous.

This was our 1st family trip to Kuantan, was somewhat dissapointed with certain areas of the hotel, where I believe can be improved.

Hotel was generally dated, the room that we stayed in was dusty and moldy. There are not much activities besides swimming in the nicely heated pool (where pool was quite crowded due to limited choice of activities) and playing on the beautiful clean sandy beach.

Sad to say when I check with the concierge and front desk staff about what activities or happenings around the hotel and Kuantan itself, I was surprised that they were clueless about recommending anything. Their respond was, "nothing, no activities in the hotel or around Kuantan."

Breakfast buffet are basic, somewhat tasteless, not much to be offered due to Covid restrictions, however, I would suggest to have minimal choice of food and really tasty ones, to prevent food wastage (if food are not good), and include more healthy salads, whole fruits choices rather overnight looking soggy cut fruits, and perhaps some local Kuantan delights for those 1st time visiting Kuantan would be highly appreciated.

Despite all the above, I would commend on overall warm and welcoming services extended to us from the staffs from front desk checkins, restaurant, gym, pool & housekeeping, they are well mannered and I believe they are doing they job well.

Hope the Hotel General Manager will look into this to increase the overall quality of Malaysian hotel reputation & Hyatt chain of hotels.

Thank you.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador tier member, I have stayed in lots of hotels and resorts world wide, and this is the first hotel I actually write a review.
I visited Kuantan on business trip and instead of choosing Marriott hotels I choose Hyatt because it looks like a better hotel. Firstly, the pricing is 5 stars hotel pricing in Kuantan, it’s about RM750 per night for a normal room. So I expect to have 5 stars hotel service in return. Well I was so wrong!

We arrive at The hotel about 5pm, no one at the entrance offer a hand on our luggages. After checking in, the front desk just passed me the key card and didn’t show us the way to our rooms. The hotel has few buildings. However no map was given, they expect us to find our way in google map? Thus, we have to ask our way in order to get to our rooms.

The room is quite run down but still acceptable. Aircon is good. I found some stain on the bed sheet. I have a habit to read the introduction of the resort, including facilities and restaurants in the hotel. I spent 15minutes look around the room for the booklet and only found one paper menu for room service. So I have no idea what facilities and restaurants the hotel offers. The Toiletries are unbranded, looks like 3 stars hotels toiletries. The shampoo and bath are in small plastic bottles which I can’t see and specifications. And I can hear noise from rooms up stairs and next door.

We had dinner at the Italian restaurant. Taste of Food is acceptable. However the waiters are not well train. They serve white wine with temperature around 12 C. And it’s quite warm in the restaurant despite aircon is on. I can’t say it’s a fine dining Italian cuisine. The presentation of the food is poor.

We went out to event and return to hotel around 11pm, and we could not have a car park!!! There is extreme shortage of car park. So we have to park on the street that night. The staff didn’t even want to help.

Finally, the good thing about this resort is the scenery and beach. Nice sun rise view. Some staff are friendly.

I won’t recommend this hotel to others and I will stay at other hotel for my next trip to Kuantan.

I liked the hotel, everything about it - room amenities, room size, cleanliness, service, sanitation and the required SOP. Only one thing I wished the hotel can improve - checkin process with the required health declaration.

The pool was inviting, the breakfast was very well organized to avoid guests getting the food themselves. Service during breakfast was fast, I was impressed with their undivided attention to guests’ needs, even though there were many tables occupied.

I used the gym room and the staff was on duty to maintain the number people using the facilities.

The room was spacious and thoroughly sanitized and cleaned. We had full TV channels with movies and TV series, news and sports.

I’m sure the checkin counters can try to use the apps to register guests instead of getting them to fill up the forms. Wouldn’t passing the writing instruments around make it riskier in times of pandemic like now? Please use QR CODE instead.

Despite of the checkin counter woes, we enjoyed our stay a lot. Hope to come back soon.

The hotel was nice and good for family to get together. However, the MGMT should advise the guest or put a signage to wash their feet before entering to swimming pool from the beach.

The receptionist are a clueless as it takes me 3 calls to inform that there is an issues with TV connection in my room and had to demand only they take action , no apology given. This is something that the hotel need to look into.

As a former Hyatt client planning this much needed break, I cannot afford to rely on customer service to tell me that my family’s safety on holiday is ‘subject to availability’.

I cannot comprehend why Hyatt, which would have been a personal choice because of milestones with this hotel chain and with its ‘high standards’ could not give us clear options for accommodations that guarantees that we all can stay together for the safety of our kids. A ‘Subject to availability’ response just leaves a lot of doubt and no peace of mind at all.

Context: The trip was meant for my family before kids start school again. Yes it was an important 4-day holiday to mark the event.

We have completely changed our holiday plans where I can rely on Shangri-La suite deals that are not ‘subject to availability’ and have transparency on room/package rates and will address my specific requests.

We stayed ath the Hyatt Regency in December of 2019.

The resort is beautiful, directly at the beach with nice restaurants with a view of the beach and the ocean. One of which is also the breakfast restaurant.

The rooms are freshly renovated, but still have their 80s 'Charm'. Not my personal style, but clean which is the most important thing for me. We booked two sea view rooms and they are definitely worth the extra money. The view is wonderful.

The breakfast is large with options for everyone, from European breakfast to Asian breakfast, you can find almost everything there. And good quality as well, so definitely book with breakfast included.

The only negative thing I can say is that it is almost impossible to get in contact with them before you arrive. I spent over 2 weeks sending them messages and calling them to arrange pickup from the airport.
When it was finally confirmed and we arrived at KL airport (about 3-4 hours from Kuantan) nobody was waiting for us and we called to hotel to find out where their driver was. They said they had no booking from us.
But I had a confirmation mail, so I called that number and they said the driver had left because we weren't there (our flight was delayed by about 1 hour). But we gave them our flight details and it should be possible for a hotel like the Hyatt regency to manage a simple pick up from the airport even with a delay. After almost 45 minutes the driver arrived with a car much too small for three people and our luggage, which I had informed them about beforehand.
So four hours in a car with no space was a terrible start into our vacation.

Upon check in we told them of the problems and the manager on duty actually apologized and didn't charge the full transfer price.

So to sum it up, if not for the terrible first impression at the airport and the communication problems beforehand, I might even have given them 5 stars. But that service is not acceptale for a 5 star hotel.

This is my first night staying here and im writing this even though is midnight now cause im letting all the taps and shower head to run 100% so that the muddy water can be cleared off.

Knowing that they had water pump issue in the evening, they didnt even notify the guest to let the water run. Unlucky for me to be out of the room and i thought i can come back for a hot shower but seeing the water quality like this, i didnt expect to pay such price for this badly maintained resort.

Dear Daniel, Thank you for your feedback, we wish to apologize for the inconvenience you experienced due to water disruption in hotel. It was due to main water supply disruption to hotel and we needed to switch to our reserved tanks which took some time and since there was no water reserves in pipes that affected the water discoloration. Since this was a last minute water disruption, we reached out to as many guests as we could and assisted accordingly. We also apologize if team missed to contact you. We greatly value your continued support of the Hotel and we certainly look forward to welcome you back soon. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us, should you require any future assistance. Thank you. Sincerely, Syed Adnan Director of Operations

We had an excellent vacation here. Services were excellent, we had a problem with our room on first night and shout out to Ms Nurul the front-desk manager for acting promptly to switch us to another room, with an apology letter - which was a nice touch!

Weekend was crowded, but on a weekday it was quiet and serene. Public beach was clean and the pools were fine - if I have to nitpick the second adult pool could be a little bit more better maintained as algae were spotted all over. All in all an excellent property that we definitely will come back.

A supermarket is not within walking distance but within a 5-7m drive away. There is however, a 7-11 convenience store within walking distance. Hope that helps.

Hi. Are there beach bars, good seafood restaurants and motor bike rentals near the hotel? Thanks
Answer from ravi311

The hotel itself has a beach bar (Sampan Bar). There is another bar within 3 mins walk (The Barn). Seafood restaurants are better in town (e.g., Alor Akar Seafood Restaurant in town, Pak Su Restaurant by the beach at Balok, Akob Patin House in town). I have not seen any bike rentals near here.
