I suppose it must be the economic climate as most hotels outside Kuala Lumpur seem to be time-locked in the 90s. Perhaps nostalgia makes them want to preserve the looks when they first opened decades back. The Kuantan GC is no exception. Tight-knit carpet, 3’ beds (twins they call them here) instead of 4’ present day singles, shower in tub with plastic curtains (nope, not glass), and the bedside console (yep! They are still in use). That said, there are rooms that have been refurbished to keep up with the times although they are fairly basic. Here, you still shower in the old tub but apart from shower hose, they have rain shower head and with glass partition. Relative to similar-starred Kuantan hotels, the GC ranks better. The rooms are equipped with mini bar, drinks facilities, iron, hair dryer, even international socket (how thoughtful) near the desk. Old it may be but it does the job if you are in Kuantan for a business. There are underground car park, valet parking and convenience shop. The Swan Chinese Restaurant is decent if you are hosting. Breakfast offering is fairly basic (beware: no butter but only margarine). Frankly if one is willing to take a short drive or walk, there are nearby breakfast outlets that offer better bang for your bucks. If you are not into hotel food, the Sara Thai across the road does decent Thai dinner fare for reasonable prices. There is also an all day dining “mamak” at the back of the hotel. Verdict: GC does the job, especially for the price. …
Located at the heart of Kuantan, easy access to local eateries, plenty of rooms, cheaper for solo traveler. A pleasant stay with a friendly staff. only thing is i have to parked at separate building and walked up to the hotel lobby.
This hotel have spaciuos parking in front of the hotel, have cafe on the ground, with very good food, which customer can enjoy and chit chat around the pool, good staf, reasonable price of room, easy transport, walking distance to food stall nearby, acess to this hotel is easy but tricky, must be alert no to miss the entry to this hotel
This hotel looks old. However, I give thumbs up for its room, which is very spacious. It also has its own free parking. The swimming pool is also one of my reason of staying over there with kids. The deepest point of the pool is 6 feet, whilst the shallowest is 3 feet. No life guard around and also almost no one around at the pool during our stay. The hotel's location also very strategic and very near to eateries outlets.
Stayed in for one night. We booked two rooms online. The price was reasonable....RM 192 per room net with breakfast. It is advisable to book online because it is a lot cheaper than the published rate. The rooms were large and comfortable but they have seen better days. The carpet and fittings were old. The towels were slightly better than rags. Please replace them ASAP. Breakfast was ok but refill was slow. The pulut kuning with rendang was great. It was gone fast but there was no refill, instead the replacement was fried rice. Many were dissapointed but I hope to enjoy it in my next visit if it is still in the menu. Staff was friendly and helpful.
We stay overnight at Grand Continental Hotel Kuantan, with nice price. our review for this hotel are as follows Advantages: Location: the hotel situated at center of Kuantan, just walking distance to Kuantan Mega Mall. therefore its not a problem to find restaurant Staff: they staff are great, and friendly. their are very helpful. Disadvantages: Facilities: The room are spacious, and we got a connecting room which is great. however, the hotel condition are in poor, there a lots of improvement need to be done such as painting and refurbishment. the bathroom also in poor condition and its toiletries are at minimum standard. Swimming pool are big, however its combine with adult and kid, therefore during peak hour, the pool will crowded. Hotel not provided specific kid pool. Restaurant : We don't have time to try its room service, but based on menu at our room, the price are quite cheap, eg pizza at price of RM 10. however, we try their buffet breakfast and their choice are not to much. its have local and western breakfast. Parking: The hotel has basement parking, but never try. I accidentally park at apartment parking which is in the same building with the hotel. It also provide valet parking with a price of RM 10 per entry. Quiteness: the hotel are not to quiet, u can hear people talking and walking at the alley.…
This is an old hotel. However this hotel is location is good. It's located in near Berjaya Shopping Mall. There are food stalls around the hotel. Hotel bath tub is dirty with dirt and stains. They need to wash it properly.
Booked this hotel on our way back from outstation business trip. Front desk was friendly and we dont have problem checking in. Room wise its good enough for one night sleep. We are already tired and after shower and supper at nearby mamak at ground level, we already slept. If you fancy a massage, there's a spa at Level 2.
The hotel need some refurbish on certain areas such as swimming and hotel rooms. Anyhow, the room facing the front of hotel is nice. Bad experience in check-in as we all have to wait until 2 pm to check in.
The bedroom not sound proof.very noisy at night bcause near to the main road. Pls check ur water kettle. Some of it hav rusty inside. Wifi cannot connect at all. Pls educate ur counter staff dont laugh if customer ask a question. That is rude. Tq.
