Went to stay a night from our long trip up down south and thought this was a good deal. About 10mins away from the new Hollywood restaurant and it’s pretty decent size bed and bathroom with cute boutique-y furnitures.

Unfortunately the bathroom smells from drainage, that should def be fixed together with the stains on the stool / chair provided with the room. Also, please ensure all bedsheets / pillow cases are washed and clean, basically put on the new ones for each guest. Thank you.

On 15 Jan 2022, hotel receptionist (male) did not wearing a face mask while serving a customer at lobby.
Regarding the hotel interior design is very nice and modern. The room that we booked has no issue and I think cleanliness need some improvement , no issue with the facility, WiFi internet speed pretty fast. Many car parking lots just right in front of the hotel.

Well, for SGD39.00 a night, this was pretty good —- clean, modern, good bed and great shower, good wifi. OK, no windows but that also meant no traffic noise! Staff friendly and check in and out all went smoothly. Walls can be a bit thin; while we were there we had a herd of water buffaloes in the rooms around us (boys here on a mountain biking weekend) who were up at 6 in the morning, slamming doors and all. NOTE TO FUTURE GUESTS OF THE MERTON: please be mindful that the self-closing doors will slam!

Not a lot around the hotel, some eateries, one clinic, a bar and a $2 shop. However, town is only MYR 8 - 10 with Grab, so very manageable.

All in all, quite happy with the hotel and will stay again.

This is my second visit to the hotel. Recommended to a friend. But very disappointed with the room service. Bed sheets was not changed. Noted hair strands and stains on the bed sheets. Noted dried soap bubbles on the toilet sink and stain in the toilet bowl. Enjoyed my first visit in May. But the second visit very disappointing. Called for room service and questioned regarding the unchanged bed sheets. The room boy claimed there were so many rooms to be cleaned and said sorry for not changing it. Suggesting for the service to be better in future.

Excellent Service from Ida ( Reception) and Lin (HouseKeeping).
Room is clean and cosy.
We visited touristy places like Kek Look Tong Cave Temple and Dai Shu Geok ( Big Tree Foot ) for Yong Tau Foo at Jalan King which is about 3 Km from Merton Hotel.

We checked in for a one-night weekend stay at this hotel. The location is just by the main road, close to one of the attractions, reflecting pool or tasik cermin. The lobby/ lounge is nicely decorated, so as the lift lobby. The clever lighting makes space feel cozy.

The room is just so so. There is no side table, so have to place your phone away, which doubles as your alarm clock by your side, but safe for keeping valuables is provided. The room decor is minimum. The room size is just okay. The shower room floor is a bit clogged, thus have to program the water flow while bathing. Iron and ironing board is provided along the corridor. Breakfast is not provided at this facility. However, there are plenty of places to have one in the area.

The room is fairly quiet, thus good for having a rest after roaming the area. If you are looking a room for rest, this is a good one. Recommended.

Small boutique hotel with restaurant and shops near by, few minutes drive to Ipoh center. Overall hotel and room's decoration and cleanliness is good.

But it is not ok for my room. When i went into my room, i saw a big crack on the wall, as shown on the photo ! Went to reception request to change another room. Was told that no room available due to full house. My room is booked one month before and such room given, the room is NOT READY !

The way reception handle my request is worst, was given excuse like :
a) i don't know why reservation release the room before check the room (do you think this is my problem ?)
b) let me check with maintenance (why u need to check with maintenance ? i need is to change another room!).
Reception really need to learn how to handle guest request and complaint and do not let guest bring this issue up to social media. I asked him, how if the crack suddenly become a hole, if we are hurt, who is going to responsible ? No answer again.

Reception say will bring out this issue to management and morning shift colleague to follow up. Ok, it is fine, we cant do anything.

Next day check out, asked reception regarding this issue.
The girl told me : no update or any issue was report. What is happening ?
I am like : SERIOUSLY ??? Night shift do not report anything to you ?

Dear management, please do not vacant the room before it is ready.

Pretty hotel and good place for those who likes to take selfie. Staff was friendly, room was clean, bed and pillows were comfortable, place was sprayed with nice smell, amenities provided, shower with 2 shower heads and easily adjusted water temperature. Convinience with few Chinese seafood restaurants, rm2 store and a boutique attached with hotel to shop. Parking was easily available as well and we enjoyed our stay.

The chic decor exuded a refreshing aura - quite a feat considering the hotel is really a collection of shoplots. Facilities were minimal in this 3-star hotel.

The room was clean and acceptably spacious, while the bedding was pleasantly comfortable. Toilet and shower were clean too. No complaints on Wifi performance in the room. Perhaps the one thing that stuck out as disappointing was the in-room safe which was rather small, and wasn't bolted down - which meant that certain larger belongings (e.g. laptop, digital camera, etc.) would not fit in the safe. Even if items did fit, one would wonder how secured they would be since the safe could be carted away to a hideout for unimpeded attempts at break in.

Check-in and check-out service was promptly - and front desk staff was courteous. Granted, occupancy during one's time of travel was low.

Grabbing a bite to eat was convenient since there were several local restaurants in the area - else a quick ride using Grab would bring one to a myriad of other choices in Ipoh.

Overall, a pleasant place for a short stay.

Hi Lisa L, there is RM2 shop right beside the hotel if you need chips or can drinks but not wet food. Only dry food can be obtained at the shop. If you need to go to a shopping mall, you can head to Ipoh Parade Mall about 5.6 KM away from the hotel, you can use either uber or rent a car (About 10 minutes from the hotel). Lost world of tambun is about 11-12 KM away from the hotel in a total about 25 minutes drive using a car. I was attending a wedding near there but i assumed the receptionist can help with other place of interest. Along the way to the hotel, there's McD and Starbuck if you need snacks. It's quite convenient there I would say. There's couple of Uber you can get. Hope that helps.
