A no-frills budget hotel that is fairly clean and comfortable - and not much else. We had, overall, an ok experience staying in this hotel. On the plus side, the rooms are spacious. Beds are comfortable and the place reasonably clean, though not spotless. Bath towels are provided (though a bit thread-bare) and apparently changed everyday. The staff are friendly and try their best to be helpful. When we checked in one of the rooms smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and our request for a room change was met with cheerfully. On the minus side, there are a few issues. The room is equipped minimally. Although the rooms we stayed in were en suite, some had baths and others just showers. There were no mini fridges. Drinking water is available for purchase from reception at RM1 per large bottle. There were no hair dryers available even for loan. One of the rooms we stayed in at a noisy aircon that kept its occupants awake. While the rooms have a tv, the only channels available were the terrestrial channels. Worst of all, and this is no fault of the hotel, was the dreadful caterwauling that came from a karaoke bar about 200m away. So if you are staying here be sure to ask for a room that does not face front! Given a choice I would rather not stay here although for a night's sleep it is adequate. However it is a budget hotel and advertised as such, and it was quite inexpensive.

The family room is great in price and clean even though is old but still acceptable with the price i paid for. Recommend for budget traveller. The bathroom with bathtub which my kids love it too. Walking distance to the food stall. Ample parking in front of the hotel. There is a lift too easier for us with big luggage.

The hotel looks jaded and is in the quieter and older part of the Ipoh City Center. Own transport essential. The receptionists are friendly and helpful. Rooms are reasonable sizes and bathrooms okay. We paid more much for the CNY peak period and as such our expectations were understandably. higher. But based on normal off peak periods, the rooms are fine for the prices charged. Rooms are clean, beds comfy but our air-cond leaked. Overall, we got what we paid for.

Just across one of the main roads within walking distance of Ipoh Old Town. This is a plus point because you don't get the traffic jam and the many tourists walking around Old Town. Although the Dragon & Phoenix Hotel looks dated, the owner is making an effort to modernize the facilities. Just as we checked out, the signboards were being replaced with brand new ones. The shower in the room is new with powerful pumped jets. The staff is friendly. One of them informed us that our car lights are left on so that we can turn it off. Room is spacious.

The hotel's location is very good, it is closed to the city center. The room and the bathroom were clean and spacious, the bed was very comfortable! All the staff that we met was friendly, professional and helpful. They gave us really good advice. I highly recommend this place, especially if you are looking for great value!

We are a family of four adults who checked into 2 rooms in this budget hotel. Other hotels are fully booked due to the xmas long weekend. The rooms are dated but spacious. However I think cleanliness can be relative. Room is very basic but you pay for what you get. Sheets are greyish. I couldn't spend the night here and found rooms available at Excelsior hotel nearby. It was 4x the price we paid here but I couldn't get my credit card out fast enough for Excelsior. The karaoke bar nearby was an absolute nightmare till 2am. Stay here only if you are not fussy. It's bare bone and a basic budget hotel.

We had been warned about the background of the hotel (i.e. love hotel near a pub). However, we would pleasantly surprised. The desk staff were courteous. The rooms were clean and spacious. We had a good night's sleep -- comfortable bed, pillows, and comforter. The bathroom had a tub and more than enough hot water. This is a great location if your arriving to Ipoh via Old Railway station (just a little above 1km away). Try the Fong Wei Ge hot pot restaurant very close to this hotel for dinner!

We spent 3 nights in this hotel, after checking out at least 7 other hotels, this was the cleanest, friendliest and best value. the furniture is very good, great bed, good shower, lots of hangers, a big window and enough space for a dance. a good lift helps with your luggage. Internet was excellent, among the best we had. The only little drawback in the room is the lack of power plugs, had to use the TV one to charge my camera batteries and the phone. Apart from that, the room service was perfect and the receptionists all knew good places to eat!

This is a first budjet hotel which have 5 star value as there is a long bath tub in the bathroom and also lift. I really feel surprise on it. The room is very spacious even a family room which consist of 2 king size beds at RM98.40. I can even add an mattress with extra RM20 only. The quality of mattress can be improve further. At night can be very noisy if your room facing roadside as there is a open karaoke near by that hotel.
