Room 408. Went I opened the door was surprised how spacious of the basic room cost RM62.10 incl. tax on weekend rate. No smell in the room it was tiled and clean. Can walk bare foot and not to worry dirt. I sat on the floor and wrote this review. The air-condiotion unit was good no noise and cool. No complain for the price paid and much better than some budget hotel I stayed so far. In fact I place Dragon & Phoenix hotel at par among most 3.5 star establishment. The shower was fantastic, strong pressure and central hot water system. Parking was convenient back portion of the building and open space parking well lighted up no worries and I noticed there was a person guarding the car park. At 11pm while checking my car, I noticed the entrance gate being locked. Walking distance to pizza hut and kentucky fried chicken. While outside of the hotel there was a dangdut joint right opposite of the road while in the room hardly hear the noise.Walking distance to other hotels about 100m Ipoh City Hotel, Eastern Hotel (opened 2 months ago) and Grand View Hotel. Some average points will be from the lift to the room not air-conditioned (open natural air), no wifi in the room (I don't need them as the 3G coverage was adequate and could personal hotspot from my iphone). TV without Astro channel. I definite recommend this budget hotel, its a peaceful stay.

Stayed at short notice and was the only avilalble option over Chinese New Year. Rooms large and clean though dated and worn. Staff friendly and helpful. Location is central. Prices are reasonable for Ipoh. Would stay again

Just across one of the main roads within walking distance of Ipoh Old Town. This is a plus point because you don't get the traffic jam and the many tourists walking around Old Town.

Although the Dragon & Phoenix Hotel looks dated, the owner is making an effort to modernize the facilities. Just as we checked out, the signboards were being replaced with brand new ones. The shower in the room is new with powerful pumped jets.

The staff is friendly. One of them informed us that our car lights are left on so that we can turn it off. Room is spacious.

A local Chinese hotel. It was close to the train station and the downtown area, so the location was good. There was also a KK and Seven-Eleven nearby. It was a little way down an alley and was like a motel. You could connect to WiFi without leaving the room. There was no free water. It was RM90 per night (including tourist tax).

We spent 3 nights in this hotel, after checking out at least 7 other hotels, this was the cleanest, friendliest and best value.
the furniture is very good, great bed, good shower, lots of hangers, a big window and enough space for a dance. a good lift helps with your luggage.
Internet was excellent, among the best we had. The only little drawback in the room is the lack of power plugs, had to use the TV one to charge my camera batteries and the phone.

Apart from that, the room service was perfect and the receptionists all knew good places to eat!

Room Tip: Do not use one facing the side road, the karaoke is loud :)

I studied in Ipoh last time. I missed a lot of good food there so decided to visit it for the foods :)

I found this hotel via this website thus want to share my hotel stay here. Initially I wanted to book a big room that can fit 5 adult but because it is long holiday, I only managed to book two standard room. It is a very old budget hotel that already been renovated. It is clean but those old piping still have some small leaking. It is good for a budget hotel and clean. The only thing I hate is that one of the room have smoke smell. I guess I check in the room too soon. Normally hotel will open up the door room for fresh air to come in. For those smoker in close door air-con room, they will know the smell. And to be fair, somehow, end of the day, only I alone complaining of the smoke smell. My parent-in-law, sis-in-law and wife said I am overreacting :)

Overall the hotel staff is very friendly and can recommend places to eat. The hotel is located at the town area. One hotel staff even go extra mile to open up a gated worker's parking lot for me to park my car :)

I have asked for hot water for making my baby milk. In the room have air con, small tv, hot water for bathing, some room have bath tub (clean one) and some just shower. By the way, on the night of my stay, all the hotel rooms is fully booked. If you need, you can google yellow pages for phone number of this hotel. Perhaps can ask receptionist if previous night is smoker staying in the room, if yes perhaps can ask them to get you another room :)

A no-frills budget hotel that is fairly clean and comfortable - and not much else.

We had, overall, an ok experience staying in this hotel. On the plus side, the rooms are spacious. Beds are comfortable and the place reasonably clean, though not spotless. Bath towels are provided (though a bit thread-bare) and apparently changed everyday. The staff are friendly and try their best to be helpful. When we checked in one of the rooms smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and our request for a room change was met with cheerfully.

On the minus side, there are a few issues. The room is equipped minimally. Although the rooms we stayed in were en suite, some had baths and others just showers. There were no mini fridges. Drinking water is available for purchase from reception at RM1 per large bottle. There were no hair dryers available even for loan. One of the rooms we stayed in at a noisy aircon that kept its occupants awake. While the rooms have a tv, the only channels available were the terrestrial channels.

Worst of all, and this is no fault of the hotel, was the dreadful caterwauling that came from a karaoke bar about 200m away. So if you are staying here be sure to ask for a room that does not face front!

Given a choice I would rather not stay here although for a night's sleep it is adequate. However it is a budget hotel and advertised as such, and it was quite inexpensive.

The hotel's location is very good, it is closed to the city center. The room and the bathroom were clean and spacious, the bed was very comfortable! All the staff that we met was friendly, professional and helpful. They gave us really good advice.
I highly recommend this place, especially if you are looking for great value!

We asked for a non smoking room because of other reviews.. and got one. A huge room, clean and functional. It's more like a Malaysian version of an Ibis hotel and doesn't come close to a hostel. Airco works well
