I stayed here for almost 2 weeks during a course I had to attend in Greentown area, which is about 10 minutes walk. And beforehand, I called the hotel and did my reservation. And to my surprise, the reception (which was a middle aged man) who took my bookings weeks beforehand remembered me calling in. A plus. I got into my room. It was old, but clean. The first room we had didn't have any view worth looking at, I was looking at the back of some shop lot. So I asked for a change of room, which was not a problem since they have available room. So I moved to the new room, which is better.. bigger windows, and view of the street down below. Food? The hotel is surrounded by varieties of cheap and affordable street food, and also restaurants, it's not a problem to find decent food at all. That's a big plus for me. There's a 24 hours sundry shop just next to the hotel too. Safety? It's pretty alright, just the normal thing to do, don't stand out too much or flash too much. The hotel could be a little bit quite after 12am, since most of the street stalls would close around that time, and you have less people walking or driving by. Shopping? Depends on what you want. If you are into malls, then there's a mall which is less than 15 minutes walk away, just that, you'll have to cross the road to get to it. If you are into some cheap deals or haggling for good price, there's a 'pasar' or night market which is about 10 minutes away.. Conclusion. It's a decent hotel. no wifi though.. old, but clean.. a real deal if you are travelling on a budget.

Rooms are big and clean. So was the bathroom. Staff not overfriendly but efficient. Opposite the hotel is a good and fun foodcourt and a karaoke-bar as well. Both can ran till very late and there will be noise, so take a room at the backside. Be aware that the area has a certain reputation concerning the horizontal trade... but it happens inside and not on the street, so everytings fine. To both the trainstation and the local bus station you need around 20-25 minutes to walk. Wifi worked fine.

if u r looking for a friendly and clean budget hotel in a central location, Hotel Robin is right for u. Rooms are clean, staff speaks English and Bahasa and Chinese and is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms at the back guarantee a more quiet place for better seep. The front looks out over a street with bars and karaoke and food courts, so noisy. Rooms, bathrooms etc are very basic, but for the price this hotel is charging one can not expect more. Location is great, close to Ipoh parade, green town and food courts.

My family have been staying there for 2 days this yr June. The area very convienence for foods and other places to travel. We will be planning again this Dec for staying this hotel. If the hotel can provide each room a kettle it will be easiar for us when we travel with kids n some of the room wall the paint starting falling out... look unpleasant. The Thong Sui Kai just accross the street so at night u never get hungry..

I am not sure if they are used to having travelers - not malaysians in because they looked surprised when we booked a room and checked in. But the service was great, wifi everywhere. We had family room and it was huge anc clean and aircon and the bathroom for budget accommodation in asia one of the best. Clean, nice, spacious, very nice staff, we paid 103 for four people and the room could fit five. Would stay there again

I have been staying in this Hotel for the last 10 years since 2001. I visited Ipoh 3 times a year & stayed approx 21 days each time in this hotel. Everyone in the hotel knows me they are all very friendly. The price is very, very reasonable. Eating is very convienence. I always travel alone & stay in a single std room. Hotel very clean no complaint all these 10 years. Will continue another 10 years if I live that long as I will be in the 70s. For one looking for a budget hotel, I strongly recommend this one. I was an Ipoh resident until 35 years ago when I migrated to Australia. I know Ipoh very well and all its hotels. Having consider all angles, I find this is the Budget hotel to stay. However, when my wife is travelling with me, we stay at the Syuen Hotel because there are lifts & my wife's legs not too good for climbing stars. At that price, it is money for value. Next door is a spa. Especially those without transport this is the spot. This is only my opion of this hotel I hope it will suite you if you so decide.

Stay here for 1 night. Introduce by relative who been staying here before. The family room is really big with 2 queen beds and 1 single bed, and still can add another 2 extra beds. Th price if not mistaken is Rm110-RM130 while extra bed should be RM18. The bed sheets and towels look old but clean. All the chairs and cupboard look old too. The wall need painting but still ok. The staff service are good. The location is really good, walking distance to lots of shops and food. We walked 2 /3/4 blocks to the 'foh sun dim sum', the famous Aun Kheng Lim 'salted chicken, funny mountain famous soy drinks and more shops. One friend told us that area not safe but we not sure as didn't go out after 10pm. But do saw lots of food stall s still opened after 10pm and easy to get food here. But safe when we went out early morning after 6.30am. Overall value for the price and we enjoy the stay.

Hotel central to main road, banks, very close to food court. Food court comes to life at nigth so could be a tad noisy. Seedier part of town ('tokong urut' or massage parlours abound!) but felt safe at all times. Room cleaned every day with fresh towels (albeit thin). Air-conditioned, ensuite (plenty of hot water). TV (reception poor & only local channels), bar fridge in room. Simple accommodation, no frills, great value for the price.
