i stayed in this hotel as it was the official hotel to an event i was involved in. the room allocated to me was surprisingly clean & nice despite the room rate quoted around rm130. i normally expect nothing but the worst when room rates are that low. as it was a biz trip, i hardly had a chance to experience the facilities offered by the hotel & since i was in ipoh, i'd be spoilt for choice when it comes to food t any time of the day so i wasn't desperate to try out the complimentary breakfast or room service. as much as i was happy with the room condition, i was told by my colleagues who stayed in the 4-bedroom apartment, that theirs was better looking (recently renovated) than my room! i might want to check out the apartment next time i visit then.

Ritz Garden Ipoh is located in the town, so nearby got some pub or discount. Actually is normal to every where. So there is some business over there, you will know what i mean if you read some bad review from some web site. So try to book a apartment in garden wing. There is some one room apartment in Garden Wing. Garden wing is the new apartment hotel, so the furniture and room is nicer. Many Facilities in garden wing, like swimming pool, gym room, cinema, snooker table, library and KTV.

Foot Massage also very cheap as RM 19.90 for 40 minutes. You can call for room service, you can skip it go to the 1st floor on hotel wing. As there is other business there. Frankly speaking many hotel also have it you just skip it and you will feel better.

I book the 4 bedroom apartment. Inside the room is big and the bed is comfortable, each room got LCD TV and got the famous channel like Wa Li Ta, AEC, HBO, Disney Channel and many more. Each room and living room also got air cond. Some more got microwave oven and electric stove. Is better than the 4 star hotel. Even last time i stay in the 4 star hotel in ipoh also not have such a good facilities.

The Bathroom is very nice, but only one attach with master room and one outside. So we have to share it with other 3 rooms.Nearby there you can;t find this kind of hotel, some more is so close to the famous restaurant and buying things.

We went to the 2nd floor for foot reflexology as it was RM30 for 60mins. It was a frightening experience. The cafe at 2nd floor is a hangout for the men to ogle and pick up the Chinese prostitutes. The rooms at 2nd floor are at promo rates of RM70/night and hence serve as a cheap room for these prostitutes. My sister and I were harassed by these men when we were there. I lodged a complain to the reception but the manager claimed that they couldn't do anything as "they" were hotel guests. The hotel management is aware of such vices going on in the premises of the hotel, but did nothing to protect hotel guests, especially female guests. I would say, for female and young guests, stay at your own risk. The hotel is pretty old, and breakfast sucks too!

A nice surprise in Ipoh!
Excellent value for money, modern hotel, clean, spacious rooms, good beds, good airco, small but nice swimming pool, lots of other facilties (gym, foot massage, etc.). Very good breakfast. Child friendly.
We would stay there again!

I return to stay in Ritz Hotel on the 30th May 2015.
I managed to get the standard Room on the 2nd floor.
My preference is the deluxe which come with windows.
Room size was ok.
Toilet was fairly tight buat none the less, still acceptable.
My 2nd reveiw on Thistle hotel is to share the unplesant nite i had.

1.Room across my Room and just 2 doors away were having commotions from inside the room right to the hallway from as early as 8pm.

2. I made 2 complaint calls to the receptionist and the fighting and yelling among the youngters did NOT stop.

3. It continues till 5am or so. Apparently the commotions did not stop and continued to the lobby and back to the Room.

4. I found out later there were 4 to 5 guys stayed in 1 Room.
Seriously how can the management allow such occupancy.
Room is small and just nice for 2!!

5.What dissapoint me is the lack of action from the duty manager to control such situations.

6. Lack of security interference to control the situations and escalate.

7. I trust others on the same floor and rows would have complaint.

8. The Best part was....When i feedback to the receptionist in the morning, the answer was "the nite manager has gone home....we will ask them to check out..."
To me, Why wait....???
They should have call the police if the in house security can't control the situations,
The drunkards were shouting, banging door and shoving among them.
They simply ingore us and behave like gangsters.

9. No apology from the management and no counter proposal to other tenants.

10. Simply lack of ownership and poor customer service.

11. I wrote what i've gone thru personally. This is not to tarnish the hotel reputation but as a constructive criticism for improvement.

12. If a hotel is good, i would say they are good and vise versa.

13. Please help to vote not that i have anything to gain buat your vote would bump these commets and "hoping" they improvised and respect the customers.

14. The management need to go for further training and be customer service orietated.
I hope someone with authority and rank read this and do the neccessary.
Would i recommend this hotel....on my 1st post was yes!!!
For this, they need to buck up!

Changeroom for 3 times after check in.
1st time- Room dusty
2nd time- heavy smoking smell in room( already inform non smoking room to reception personnel. but when i ask why there is smoking smell, then hotel personnel said they dp not have no non smoking room in this hotel)
3rd time- floor full of shoes print and very oily all over the floor including bath room and carpet. House keeping conduct mopping on floor. then she go and take the vaccum cleaner to vaccum carpet. Unfortunally i wait for more than 20 minutes with room door opened, house keeping still not reach yet. ......reason is lunch time.. But why not inform earlier or ask some other housekeeper to replace job?

This hotel is different so don't expect the norm. It has everything but it is taken over a couple of buildings in a block so it is spread out with a walkway between the buildings. It is done in the Chinese style of lots of things but many are small. In other words it has a pool, gym, coffee shop, bar, front coffee shop, night club, small cinema, pool room, cigar room, massage room,... These things are all small and are situated all over the buildings where it can fit. The pool for instance, is underneath a floor but on a verandah at the same time.
The rooms are also different. In the old wing they can be very small, smelly and dirty looking because the carpet has not been replaced and everyone seems to smoke. In the garden wing or newer part the rooms seem extremely cleaned (no carpet) and much larger. Of course the night club is in the garden wing and as long as you don't have women screaming all night you will be fine. Take the European glasses off and be open to the new experience and it isn't too bad. I was shocked at first and said I was not staying in the smelly room so my family was moved to the garden wing. It was alright, I just had to try and change my mind set and everything was alright. I asked for an ironing board and iron and I received it in minutes. Just ask for what you need as everyone seemed happy to help.
The breakfast is very asian so don't expect bacon and eggs. There is usually a mixture of nasi lemak, congee, bake beans, some sort of omelette, fresh fruit and bread for toast.
It is central and will have most things you will want so give it a try and it may be the best in the area. I did not note anything better.
Generally, the staff were cheerful and just wanted to help to make the stay better so a client really couldn't ask for more.

We went there for a night stay and i found out a lot of facilities to enjoy with my group of friends. They have swimming pool while i spent most time with my friends there. Oh! pls don't forget to paid a visit to "Euro House" at the ground floor of the hotel. wow man!~ the food tasted good and the environment were great too!~ We had a great moment there as well. So this time we only spent a day there (No time for sauna & foot reflexology) We definitely will going to pay this hotel a visit in the future!~ Bravo Ritz!~

I booked a 3 room apartment on the 3rd floor. Beautiful rooms with good facilites including a microwave . Breakfast was good enough. The hotel is driving distance to the famous food outlets.
After a tired day, there is a good massage centre in front of the hotel that offered traditional massage.
