Xscape Tambun resort is not as good as they are usually known based on the internet. Due to poor property management, there are many cracks with holes in the ceiling and walls, water leakage marked in the tops, and large gaps and holes around the door, allowing bugs to come and go freely. There are even cobwebs and spiders, and dead bugs in the room, and you can even sleep on the same pillow or bed with live bugs.

We spent our holidays at Tambun to enjoy the outdoor activities so we managed to fit all 6 into one room and still feel spacious. They provided refreshments and snacks which were nice surprise. There is Netflix which is great for family entertainment. We felt like living surrounded by caves and jingles and upscale neighborhood which was fun. The only thing is: whilst it said it's a buffet breakfast it actually served bread with margarine and jam and nasi lemak with limited chicken supply. Only at the end of the breakfast time they added a few chicken but when my family tried to pick a few more then server's facial expression tuned a bit uneasy.....Wouldn't that mean buffet is unlimited supply within that given time? If so why staring at our spoon when we were scoping for chicken? It says buffet but where are the other options? Perhaps I didn't research thoroughly any additional activies cost a bomb eg flying fox, cave tracking so having a stay-in package could be more exciting for families …

Pros: 1. Surrounded by caves and birds chipping, this hotel gives a sense of tranquility and escapes from the city noise, yet it is only 10-15mins distance to ipoh city where u can easily access to any food. 2. Rooms are limited so there is not crowded, we enjoy the privacy and the silentness all day long. They play some zen music through public speaker also Rooms for improvement: 1. They provided bicycle but many of them are not well maintained. 2. They provided free breakfast - we stayed 2 nights, first day we had nasi ayam kunyit (spicy chicken rice), it is tasty but quite heavy to eat that early. luckily we able to have western breakfast on second day. i think they should provide options for us ;) oh another thing is, they will knock the door to inform "breakfast is here" at 8am, so do expect this free alarm clock also Overall, it is still recommend to come here for a short getaway.…

Valuable for money, has massage seat in room, room very spacious, tv has netflix, nature and calm environment, has jacuzzi, near to Lost World of Tambun Theme Park, my kids very enjoyed the holiday and love staying here,. InsyaAllah will repeat again

The location of Xscape is in Tambun which is about 15- 20 min drive to the old town/ city center so is only accessible by car. While the setting is picturesque and has the potential to be tranquil, there seemed to be a lack of management in the property, and staff were either shorthanded or did not seem to know what was going on. Christmas carols were heard on repeat even though we visited after Christmas. The room itself was pretty basic for the tariff paid, and wasn't cleaned in between days, and for 2 rooms we had to ask for the shower gel to be topped up.All this would have been fine/ teething problems, if I didn't also get bitten by either bed bugs or some other insect on one arm, which is still itching after 2 days and likely to cause scarring.
