My wife and I stayed 3 nights, arriving at noon with a rental car from IPH airport. At reception, we chose early check in($12), made the payment, received our key card and breakfast vouchers. After parking(2MR/day) in the lower garage, we took the elevator to the lobby and transferred to one of the hotel’s 5 elevators up to the 13th floor. Room #1309 was spacious, carpeted, clean with a very comfortable king, desk, table, easy chair, closet, small refrigerator, coffee maker & small TV with an easy guide (AXN, Bloomberg, Sports, 2 Movies and 8 other channels). The large fully outfitted bathroom had a tile shower & separate bathtub(no plug & the sink did not hold water), good open wifi/lighting, 2 outlets and central AC. An opening window overlooked the Riverwalk’s suspension bridge. I swam laps in the 5th floor 5m x 30m Infinity pool and used the nice adjacent 10 station gym. The 4th floor’s 7AM breakfast was excellent with attentive service: juices, fruit, children’s cereals, made to order eggs, baked beans, spinach frittata, baked pumpkin, fried noodles, many breads/jams, many cakes/jello molds, 2 coffee machines & large Malaysian selections. Overall, an excellent choice for a quiet night’s sleep, 1km riverwalk stroll S to lively Concubine Lane and an 800m walk E to ‘The Store’ supermarket.

I am at a loss to work out why this hotel is rated as highly as it is as my experience was not particularly good. I picked the hotel because it is well situated to the historic areas of Ipoh and is a ten minute walk along the river to Concubine Lane and about fifteen minutes to Ipoh Station. Check in was pretty smooth and I was given a room on the 13th floor. The room took me a bit of time to find as the rooms are not actually arranged in numerical order as one would expect (see attached pic). At first glance the room looked quite up to date. Most light switches have been swapped out for touch controls and the bathroom has clearly been updated with a glass wall through to the bedroom, which has since been covered over. This was much the same as the lifts facing the river which also had glass walls that had been covered over making them somewhat claustrophobic. While the electronics of the rooms have been updated, the furnishings have not. Both the tiles and carpets in my room were stained and frayed. I did not manage to make contact with anyone from housekeeping to clean my room while I was there as they all seemed to be too busy every time I did see any of them. On my last night I did ask for a quick tidy up of my room as there were four of them outside the room next to mine when I returned at 3pm after being out all day. The pool area is open crazy hours and there are no pool side loungers to sit on, nor umbrellas for shade. I was there for four nights over Chinese New Year and entered and exited the hotel on numerous occasions, but it was apparently too much to expect the doormen to open the door for a single woman on foot. The front desk is somewhat out of the way and when I went looking for a concierge or a map or someone to speak with about where to go in Ipoh everyone ignored me totally. At the front desk I found a child's map of Ipoh with some places to visit which I took and stood at the counter looking at for a few minutes, but the three staff who were presumably on duty did not bother to ask me if I needed anything. The mention on their website of high speed wi-fi is a joke as it was barely working every time I tried to search for places to go. I don't believe that it was a language issue, as I speak fluent Malay and was happy to engage in either English or Bahasa Malay with any of the staff. On a brighter note, I must say that the breakfast offerings were very good.

I stayed here in the Deluxe King Room for 2 nights with my wife and 2 children (7 & 6 years old), and we managed to just fit on the King size bed. The room is spacious. We paid over RM300 per night which I think is fair consider it was holiday season and I booked rather late. It's not my first time here, stayed multiple times for my business trip and glad it maintained well after the Covid lockdown. Everything in the room is still in good condition.
Those who drive, basement parking lots are available and they are now collecting RM2 per stay for hotel guests. Location is good with just 2-3km away from most of the famous Chinese eateries. At night you can just cross the street to the Kinta River where there are rides for the children to enjoy. There is a 7-Eleven store at Ground floor but it closed rather early about 8-9PM.
I did not take the breakfast so no comment on that.

Disappointing, I was debating on 2 or 3 stars for this hotel.
The condition of the Hotel needs to be revamped, I learned that the hotel is only 12 years old, it has worn out a lot in that 12 years, looks like the maintenance staff just patches things up or paints over it.
The service at the front desk was subpar, seems like most of the hotels I went to on this trip had the same attitude, the front desk was not rude, nor friendly, just seems like they just want to get the task done and over with.
I did run into a major issue with the security up front, the hotel has very limited front entry parking, maybe 3 cars can park and go in, the other is a drive lane. They have plenty of parking spaces up front but they are reserved for VIP, there's like 15 spots of those, wasted. Anyways, I go to park and bring my family inside to re-check in, and so they can also use the restroom. Once we were done with the Re-checkin and bathroom we head back to the car, as I was driving away, I hear a bang bang on my car, I see this guy smacking the car to get my attention, I stop and ask whats up, and he told me that this was his company's parking space, I asked him yes I was just checking in, he said that to check in I needed to go downstairs in the basement and park there to check in, and that i was there for too long. I told him; never in my life have I heard I needed to park in the basement to check in, he said I was there for 10 minutes, I asked him how long does he think it takes to check in, he didn't answer, then I asked him what company he works for, he proceeds to tell me that he works for Kinta as security, I said Wow, so you work for the hotel, I thought you work for a 3rd company "valet" for the hotel, but that was not the case. I said does he think its appropriate to tell a guest to park in the basement to check in, and if its appropriate to have that tone of voice with a guest. All he said was "ok sorry". I believe his name was quddus
Why I had to recheck in was because my first hotel room was disgusting, there was stains every where on the carpet, and even the lamp shade. I didnt feel comfortable walking over the carpet with my shoes off, they did provide slippers to wear, but still. The room did have a good view of the mountains. The bed was comfortable and pillows were in good shape. The 2nd room TV was burnt? Stained? Idk look at my pics and of course I get a room with the wifi broken outside so it was slow.
The breakfast was probably the best thing that the hotel had to offer, and thats why we initially picked this hotel in Ipoh, recommended by a local. The breakfast had lots to choose from between Malay, Indian and western. And if you do end up staying ere, I recommend that you get a room with the breakfast included.
The location of this hotel is pretty centralized if you are staying in Ipoh, you can get any where in a short amount of time, depending on traffic.

The fact that a hotel has been under its belt for a few years is one thing, but the fact that you can't even invest some paint for scrappy bathroom doors or vacuum the carpeted hallways that smell like a wet dog is another. The entrance hall still looks inviting, at the latest when we stepped out of the elevator on our floor, a hallway carpet full of dirt and scraps of paper greeted us. Even the carpet in our room did not seem vacuumed and full of crumbs and dirt.
In any case, the concentration of dust mites was so high that the next morning I had swollen eyes that I could barely open.
Even when we pointed out this lack of cleanliness to the reception, nothing happened. The next morning, too, pieces of tempo towel were still lying in the same places in the hotel hallway and house staff were not visible. There were enough staff, what sat around on the pool terrace all afternoon without activity, for example, or guarded the entrance of the breakfast room by several people.
The long pool is the only plus point in this hotel, even if the small pool terrace is not very appealing. A few more flowering plants and reasonably usable sunbeds instead of the two (!) round lounge parts would be advantageous.
The breakfast was basic, but we were amazed by the restaurant staff, who smelled liquid egg (replacement) on the tube with a warped corner of their mouth, because the fried egg on the hot pan probably didn't look appetizing even to them, but then diligently continued to pre-produce fried eggs with this substance. We therefore left it with the products that were ready portioned or cornflakes with milk.
The hotel has a Tuefgarage and takes a one-time 2 ring trip, no matter how often you drive out.

As a family of three, we stayed at Kinta Riverfront Hotel between 22nd and 25th July without any problems AT FIRST.
The check in was fine. Attentive concierge who helped uploaded and unloaded our bags and cases. The room we had was the most spacious when compared to all the other rooms we had at other hotels in the country. Room was clean even though it might appear a little aged.
Extremely convenient location as it is within walkable distance to the Ipoh Old Town, the Concubine Lane and a couple of museums we wanted to visit. We were spoilt by the eateries nearby, who provided abundance of food, especially Hong Kong style dim sum, which we loved. The bonus facility provided by the hotel is the swimming pool which my son used every morning and evening, while we were there.
We checked out before midday of 25th July, ready to depart for Penang. Once I handed the door key (in the form of a card) to the front desk staff, he said to me promptly “ Thank you very much, you are already checked out!”
At that point, I had completely forgotten about the RM50 deposit I had paid to the hotel and and like me my husband had also forgotten about it, even though he witnessed the entire check out process. He only reminded me about the deposit a couple of days later, when we were in Penang.

While I don't typically complain, my experience at La Kinta Riverfront was extremely disappointing. Despite a nice lobby, the Deluxe King room we paid extra for was far from deluxe. The carpets were stained. Furniture was in poor condition, with ripped leather on the bed frame and a beat-up coffee table. The bathroom lacked the promised rainfall shower head fixture and had rusted tiles. The safe didn't work, the WiFi was unreliable, and the TV had poor quality. Even the glass cups were dirty. The bedside buttons didn't work, and one fell off the wall. The only positive was the cold AC. We stayed only because we were exhausted from traveling. We planned two nights but left after one, opting for a nicer hotel elsewhere. Save yourself the trouble and money—avoid staying here. Room 14-09, February 19, 2024.

Nothing much to shout out since it was quite an old established hotel. Good for a short night stay. The room came with a hot tub. It will be great if there is no lamination on the glass so I could enjoy tub while watching TV. As the hotel is located opposite the river bank, you can purchase bread to feed the fishes,

If you wish to have a relaxing moment with a touch of nostalgia in Ipoh, Kinta Riverfront Hotes & Suites, is a good choice.
Our one night stay at the hotel was very enjoyable. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly welcomed by genial staff of the hotel. The room was spacious with a big window overlooking the river. A thoughtful welcome gifts consist of Sweets and Snacks plus Bedak Nyonya on the dressing table, really reminded me of the yesteryears. Some locally sourced fruits had completed the aesthetics.
Buffet breakfast was a great affair. The vintage styled Coffee House brought back memories of kopitiam of the old world. Excellent food quality with a mixture of Malaysian comfort food & drinks especially Nasi Lemak, Teh Tarik, Kopi Kampong, Pulut Kuning & Rendang plus many more. As you enjoy the ambience, you are spoilt of eating more than usual. Forget your "Dare I Eat That" (DIET) for a while.
To add more to our comfortable & memorable stay was the General Manager himself, Mr Azhar, who has a very good public relations skills.
I also highly recommend the Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites as a stopover for travellers passing by Ipoh or as a breakfast spot to remember the old times while enjoying their delicious food varieties.

Car park is excellent - security is tight but you need to park under ground and use the lift service to lobby.
