A clean city hotel with no frills and nice thing was, the hotel had five free parking bays in a side lane next to it. We stayed a night and it was easy to walk to nearby restaurants for dinner. In the morning we walked again for a few meters to get hot noodles and local coffee and also got the famous Lim Kheng Aun salted chickens home. Hotel was clean and comfortable with instant coffee and an electrical kettle to boil water. Two bottles of drinking water were also provided.

Quiet hotel with extremely friendly and helpful reception staff. We had a twin room which was quite spacious. Very clean and comfortable. Good hot shower. Free parking below. Within walking distance to Ipoh Parade Mall and also old town is 1km away. A walkable distance too to see the old Colonial buildings and Concubine Lane. Hawkers centre and coin laundry opposite. Very good value for the price paid. Highly recommended.

No matter what, no matter for who, never breakfast on Sunday, also not for those with a booking "breakfast included" ! Nobody could explain why, also because of the language barrier. I call this an electro-electronic hotel. Upon check in, you will get a couple of electronic keys= to use the elevaatr, for the door, for the electricity...The first day my key did not work well in the elevator, the other days I acted, so that I could see the reception-girls running to help me...Upon check in you will be asked for a deposit of 100 RM, they wont give you a receipt, but you can trust them, they are honest people.
I have asked them which kind of toothbrush they used to clean the rooms, but theydid not lunderstand my humour...This is the best clelanedhotel during thirs Asia trip! I got room 321 which is without a window, but the advantaage is that daylight can not wake you up. No noise at all.Dont confuse the old town with downtown1
When you come to Ipoh by bus, they will drop you aat Bendahara and nobody knws where the hotel is...my taxi drive phoned his sister to be guided to the hotel !Dont ever think there is nothing to do in Ipoh, I was there during the opening of the murals in the old city, I bet you those murals will become famous in Asia and will get more tourists to the city.
To end with... the hotel is 5 minutes walk from the new Parade shopping mall, where you can get breakfast on Sunday. Huhu.

In my haste, I forgot to pick up my holding deposit on departure (granted it was only a small amount) and I always maintained I do not want it back but do put it towards the upgrading of their towels and bedding - which have seen better days,

My first two emails were ignored, a simple acknowledgement would suffice, instead, there were loads of excuses and denials - for a start a receipt was never issued that the deposit was refunded. It only makes one to conclude that perhaps someone allegedly misappropriated this money, that’s why it did not show up on the system at the end of the day.

The towels and bedding are positively grey in colour and it is high time that these are replaced with new ones.

The windows (one without handle, cannot be shut at all) to the front of the hotel are not double glazed so it is very noisy being situated on the main road and facing a junction.

The smell of cigarettes smoke came through, not sure either from the air conditioning vent or from the windows, but we had to sleep with our masks on!

Ipoh Downtown Hotel - you only had to acknowledge my email and say ‘thank you for your contribution and feed back’.

The location is superb! 1min walking distance to famous Foh San and Ming court dim sum restaurant. We booked 2 rooms for 1 night, the rooms are clean, bright and cozy. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. However, ask for an extra pillow, they will charge RM5 for the rental fee. This is the first time I have encountered a hotel charging for extra pillows。 Other than this, everything is perfect!

This modern hotel is a great base to explore Ipoh and the surrounding area, with reasonable sized rooms and excellent bathrooms with a rainforest shower. The staff on reception are friendly and efficient and in the reception area is a coffee shop and small self-service shop for all your basic needs. Excellent free WiFi that you do not have to keep logging into like most hotels.

I stayed there for a month previously (16 mths ago for biz).
This time I went back for 4 days (the standard is still very good).
The staff were friendly, the location excellant. Rooms moderately priced.
I did shop around and it wasn't worth saving rm20-30 for a dive.
I'm please this hotel has kept its high standard. Travelling solo, I stayed
in the cheapest room (rm108/night) in a nice hotel. It's got 2 single beds
and the room is still spaceous. Like buying the cheapest house in the
most luxurious street, if you get my drift. Three and a half stars, my rating.

It was within walking distance to banks, restaurants and open air
night food court (tasty, delicious but the hygene was off putting,
high patronage though) and 300m away from Parkson Shopping Centre.

Be aware when handing over your credit card being swiped for
deposit payment (this is ok) but do not allow the reception to record
everything from your card - front and back.
I objected to this procedure before the senior receptionist intervened
to removed my card detail. I'm not sure if this is standard practise for Malaysian Hotels.

I was staying in this hotel for several trips since last year. I love dis hotel very much due to its location for all the famous Ipoh foods & Dim Sum restaurant & shopping malls within walking distance. Their breakfast is getting better & improving in quality compared with my previous trip. Definitely I will choose this hotel for my next visit again!
