We popped in on our way from KL to Penang. Overall the place met our expectations which means, friendly staff, large and clean rooms, ok breakfast. I would say its a good place for a or night stay.

On the drawback: cost. Paying for a good place is not an issue but the money you drop here would get you 5 star pampering in most other Malaysian towns. And five stars it was not.

We did not have time to eat in the restaurant but my guess is that they had a restaurant and opened a hotel and not the other way around. Design rooms... Well I've seen better.

It's a decent place on the expensive side, that's it.

A rare find in Ipoh no less, service was impeccable, but slightly snooty at times (forgivable) since I ordered ice water while waiting for my host to arrive, instead of sparkling designer water.

The plates were exquisite lay decorated, food was playful and inventive, decor was eclectic contemporary, and the evening magical!

Lovely to know that a restaurant of this caliber exists north of KL.

Indulgence was a fantastic experience for all, with beautiful luxury rooms, a special shout out to the room with the wonderful fat ladies painted on the wall, Indulgence has a fabulous vibe of tasteful individuality. The food was fantastic and there was a wonderfully helpful staff, it really was a great experience. The food at the restaurant was amazing, really different using lovely fresh flavours for an all round great experience. The staff were helpful and friendly, lovely to be around and spoke fantastic English. The owner/chef was absolutely lovely and friendly, it really was a experience like no other, I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I do agree with Mr airmmile on their stupid policy! Damn stupid! I have 2 kids aged 2 and 5 and they force me to take two rooms. They do not allow children above 3 to share rooms with their parents. The room is over priced (483 is the cheapest)and yet they want parent like me to spend more money on the other room for my small kid who weigh less than 16kg. I asked whether it is possible to share a suite furnished with sofa and that costs 700 + / night. She answered snobishly, NOPE! For close to 1000 RM / night , I might as well stay in a 5 star hotel. When I told them that their policy is not at all family friendly , the hotel reception has the audacity to say ' yes, that is our policy!' and no logical explaination is given. With such a over priced room rate , they can't afford to provide extra bed to client? I do not mind paying extra 100 for extra bed rather than 483 for extra room for my small daughter. Pleassse..... I'm sure the owner is malaysian. So please understand the concern of the other malaysians. They are trying to practice european hotel practice and assume that every one earns 20k RM /month. I totally hate this superiority complex attitude!

I tried to book a room for one night and the owner snobbishly turned me down because I have 8 and 4 year old children. For a first time trip to Ipoh this is certainly a memorable experience, one that I will always remember as a bad thing. For Indulgence read Self Indulgence, Self Importance. Nothing good to say about this place, they suck.

Although this place sets out to be a chic boutique style hotel with well designed rooms...it falls flat on one of the most important aspects....it's service.

We were met with a stuck up arrogance by the staff, that left a bad taste for the luckily only one night we had booked there.

Located on a busy road you will be totally dependent on taking taxis everywhere...for which you will struggle to get back to the hotel as most taxi drivers seemed to have never heard of the hotel.

Rooms are located above a restaurant so much of the building smells that way too.

The included breakfast was about the only good thing going for this place.

Restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday, so if you stay on these days the whole place will feel deserted and eerie.

Walking into this restaurant with some expectation especially the owner/chef is someone reputable and by judging at the price of their food, it's certainly comparable to some fine dining restaurants in KL, and I thought, they must be serving something great here!

To start it off, my appetiser which is the mushroom soup is tasteless, and very starchy, the warm soft shell crab salad suppose to be served it warm but it comes out chilled, and for second, I thought I've ordered a cold platter salad! My main course is trio crab ravioli which is way overly salt! The dessert I ordered is some sort of chocolate lava cake but when I cut it open, it's over baked, and there ain't any chocolate oozing out from the cake... and not, I'm not trying to be a critic here and definitely hesitate to range any restaurant as 1. The food here is literally not up to their name, nothing on my plate is "Indulging" and the only food which is good is my glass of Merlot, and only if that's consider food! Definitely overpriced.

Had a wonderful 2 night stay in this delightful, quirky restaurant with rooms. Excellent service from the well trained and efficient staff. Food was deliciously different with the very talented and lovely owner chef being very hands on. Would be return? Most definitely.

All their rooms are themed differently. I believe the standard rooms were around the 300 ringgit mark. The suite was around 500 ringgit but best to call them and ask. Rates may vary depending on the time of year.
