Coral bay resort is about a 15 min drive from the jetty and cost us 10myr each way (taxi fares are apparently fixed on the island, depending on start and end points).

It was apparently called coral bay as the beach nearby was white 30yrs ago, but this is not the case now.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with a pool view as 3 adults for 2 nights. It was roughly 218 MYR / £40 per night.

The apartment was very spacious and had a nice layout including an en suite in the master bedroom, kitchenette, dining table, balcony, utility balcony, wardrobes and mini fridge. Beds were comfy and 3x AC units kept the entire apartment nice and chilly.

The apartment was very clean, including the bathrooms and whilst it was a little dated with signs of wear and tear it was not dirty.

Negatives of the room are that it could do with a little decor (minor complaint) as it does not feel very homely with so much empty space. The kitchen space, apart from the fridge is also not really usable as an apartment kitchen (no utensils, plates or mugs, just 2x glasses and a kettle)

Soundproofing is the major problem. The windows are single pane so the bedroom near the pool let in a ton of noise, especially from kids. The other bedroom faced the hallway and footsteps, talking or doors opening/closing were waking us up. Its also audible from the living room.

Front desk staff were fine, housekeeping were nice, breakfast staff did not look happy at all.

Breakfast buffet was below average, despite being very busy the choice was limited. Porridge, fruit, cereal, hot drinks, orange juice, a few rice dishes, eggs, noodles each day. Not much variety.

The pool is very small and as a lot of kids were in it, i would not recommend it for adults.

The gym was bloody awful lol, it was like a prison gym and absolutely knackered. The equipment looks like its from the 70s and has never been cleaned. There is no AC and the door to the gym is a metal gate, so its as hot as the outdoor temps.

Location is ok but quite busy. Lobby has a duty free store and supermarket next to it. Taxi rank outside alongside a few eateries, food stalls, bike rentals, small beaches and massage parlour within a 10 min walking distance.

Would i visit again?
Yes for another short stay. The apartment was fine by island standards but I would pick a quieter time (not Raya week).

Situated in town centre Pasir Bogak. Hotel with duty free shop and super market outdoor swimming pool, walking distance to street food and sovenier shops. Triple room is large with balcony.Beach is walking distance but it's better for you to go to beautiful Coral Bay beach Telok Nipah for swim and picnic

Superb memories of playing Foosball and shopping at the Pangkor Coral Bay Resort.
Even if you're not staying over, you could just come over to shop at the duty free shops, play foosball (Rm 4 per game), and eat at the amazing restaurants nearby.
It's a splendid location

We had booked a family holiday early this year. The hotel should definitely not have a 3 star rating. From the front entry, rooms, pool area, this hotel is very grubby. The seats and the carpet in the reception area looked badly in need of a good clean. The deluxe room we booked with a balcony was also in a terrible condition. The curtains and carpet were stained, the seats grubby, the shower leaked, the door was badly damaged. We did not even have a balcony as advertised when we booked. The photos on their website are completely misleading.
It is not a hotel I would recommend to anybody. It is a pity as it is located close to the beach and has some nice cafes closeby.

This is my 2nd time here! last was 2007...and back now in 2020! The hospitality was great with helpful staff and they have Duty Free Shop at the hotel lobby! my mum was so happy and kids were sooooo happy with the pool and the beach it's just 100 metres walking distance from the hotel. Only a few suggestion for the hotel which they need to have their own shuttle for their guests return trip from jetty. Need to separate for guests waiting lobby and duty free customer (too crowded and messed with check-in and check-out guests) and last but not least, a big space for breakfast time (especially in RMCO (PKPP) period).

The whole hotel looks grungy, grubby and like something put from the 60s It doesn't even have a proper parking lot.
It is however near the beach and some restaurants. It also has a supermarket and a duty-free shop. Good for location but otherwise there are better hotels.

I stayed with my aunt and uncle in a 2 bedroom apartment. Room was spacious and clean although air condition unit was noisy. And TV channel had almost no viewable channel. But the pros stop there.

There was a big group there for some sort of conference. They made so much noise as they were getting back into their respective apartments, and that was almost midnight. The next 'good' part was at 6.45 am we were woken up by loud music played over speakers as the group was dancing and stretching as their morning exercise ! When a complain was made regarding the noise level, the staff at the reception simply said 'oh I am powerless, you need to speak to someone in charge but I don't know where she is'

The cherry on top of the cake was the pool cleanliness. Coral Bay does have a big pool with acceptable depth for adults and children BUT the hygiene of the pool is non existence to say the least. The pool floor littered was things like name tags, tissue papers, rubbish etc even the water didn't look clean, later that day I found out why. Around 15-20 middle aged men and women just jumped into the pool fully dressed (dressed in track pants , t shirts and headscarfs for females) to 'swim'. The hotel staff just watched and did not attempt to stop them when pool sign clearly stated basic pool attire.
My uncle fell sick after swimming in such appalling conditions.

Breakfast was provided but it was a pathetic spread, it was mostly oily and fatty unhealthy food.
This is one place I will definitely AVOID !

We were staying in this Coral Bay Resort, Pangkor from 7 Jan to 10 Jan 2012 via an online booking from Agoda.com. When we checked in on 7 Jan which we booked 2 rooms, the front desk reception staffs were cold without any greeting and it's disppointing! The resort is already run down esp. it's interior decoration & the rooms we stayed though it seem to be painted externally! The hotel is dull & the staffs need customer service training badly! When we requested for extra pillow, we were told that we need to pay RM5 per night and this is just absurd which for the 1st time, I am asked to pay for extra pillow! The sauna is also needed to be paid at RM30 per hour for 5 people which again is rubbish to pay for such facility!
Pangkor Island itself is also pathetic as the place is also dull, dirty and it's difficult to look for good foods esp. for muslim like us! I am really sad to visit this Island after more than 2 decades, I do not see any transformation to make this Island a real resort island to attract tourists be it the locals or overseas to have repeat visits! This will be my last visit to Pangkor and also to Coral Bay Resort as it's is really absurd with bad services!
I would suggest that Agoda to remove this resort from it's listing as it is just disappointing!
